Wow your response to my thread was the most helpful I've had...EVER on this website. I was told by a lot of people many things and I'm just trying to piece it all together. There is a tattoo artist in my hometown who has told me no already but I think I'm going to do what you said and keep going to him with my work. He has been doing my tattoos and he's a really cool guy. I just got a new piece by him a week ago and he told me I don't really need an apprenticeship because everything I need to know can be learned simply by getting tattoos. He said just watch the artist and ask questions like crazy because tattoo artists love to talk about what they are doing because they are so proud.

Why can't you live near me so I can pester you and try to get an apprenticeship from you? :P (Lick)

Lol, you definitely have the artistic skills from what I've seen. Now you just need the guidance to further your dream. Don't believe what he says about learning from just getting tattooed, its more than that soooo much more. You just need your foot in the door and being persistent is key. Kinda just wiggle your way in there from what i said before. And yes Tattoo artists love to boast with their work, they have worked hard to get where they are and love it when someone is interested.

If you lived closer our family would love to take you in and give you a chance. I wouldnt be able to teach you much due to me being an apprentice myself. October will be my year marker into my apprenticeship. Rules are more strict where I live, you have to have a blood borne pathogens certification, and a license to practice tattooing. Its worth it because I love tattooing and creating art. Money isn't get rich quick either, If I could do it for free I wouldnt care.
