I didn't realize that you have a Deviant Art account! Β Back in 2012, I purchased one of your Action Props Captain's Sabres from Knighthawk Armoury in Texas. Β

The blade wound up being used for a somewhat unusual purpose - it's a cosplay prop/training tool rather than an active LARP sword, as I don't LARP myself. Β However, I've recently started cosplaying as Captain Hikaru Sulu from the classic "Star Trek" feature films... and as a lot of fans of the series know, the fellow was a rather enthusiastic fencer.
However, the only time he was ever seen with any sort of European sword, he was just using a regular sport fencing foil and I thought that was rather underwhelming. Β I'd rather have a prop that represents a *real* sword, and that's where your work came in. Β I noticed that the Captain's Sabre is unusually historically accurate for a LARP sword. Β
It's very similar to the straight-bladed, hatchet-pointed heavy cavalry backswords used in the Napoleonic Wars such as the English Pattern 1796 Heavy Cavalry sword that the hero of the "Sharpe's" films carried. Β I haven't actually brought the sword to a convention yet (I'm planning on rectifying that this year, actually), but it's my go-to prop whenever I want to evoke Sulu's passion for fencing, since it's one of the few things about that character that made him stand out.

I actually love your product because of its relatively period-accurate shape, design and size - that massive 42" length is just about right for what it represents (the English 1796 Heavy Cavalry seems to have had a 40" overall length, just a smidge shorter) because I often make a nuisance of myself nagging my friends about the need to emphasize "realism and believability." Β
Unfortunately, I still have a lot of work to do with regard to posing, though. Β I've started reading sources about fencing with sabres, backswords and broadswords, but sometimes, what works in real life doesn't always look that good in still photos...Β
