Oh! Another Sherlock Holmes fan! Do you watch any of the BBC series? I'm not just talking about the one made recently with Benedict Cumberbatch and crew, I mean Jeremy Brett or (I think it's BBC, or maybe older as it's in black and white) Basil Rathbone.
I'm a big Holmes dork haha.

Hmm... I love him in Red-Headed League when he jumps the couch. But there are so many other little moments! Ugh... let's just say League, because I can't pick.
And yes, despite my issues with Nigel Bruce's portrayal I love him so much.

Ohhh I started watching that the other day but I fell asleep due to late nights.
I just adore how great Brett is at acting to be honest. The whole cast. I'm actually able to loose myself in the show and that's a great feeling. Nowadays, one just can't find acting like that anymore.
Yeah I suppose he does deviate from the original character substantially but, with all the other, more serious, Watsons around, I'm glad there's one who acts a little more like comic relief.
Sherlock's funny in that version too, he makes mistakes a lot more often I find.

(See, I can find that sort of acting, but it's only in the stage. Or in lesser-known actors, like Daniel Day-Lewis. But yeah, stage acting. People like Hadley Fraser and Ramin Karimloo... I can buy them in any role.)

What about Benedict Cumberbatch, though? What's your opinion on the new-ish series of Holmes? Personally I love it. Cleverly shot, great acting, interesting plots which don't stray too far from the orginal stories, I don't think, and some funny bits too.

My biggest issue is the modernization honestly. It drives me nuts, but that's because I was a book fangirl for four years before the new series started. I love Benedict's Holmes, and Martin Freeman is a lovely Watson, but there's something about it being in the modern epoque that just rubs me the wrong way sometimes.

I completely understand, that's how I found it in the first place, and that's how I find most things like that. I guess I've seen a lot of him set in his actual time, whereas only the one set now.
Of course there's that brand new series to come out with a female Watson...
