It took me 3 hours to get most of the things moved over @_____@ I refuse to include all the rough sketches I have because I would be here ALL DAY.

Also at a certain point I just gave up on descriptions. I can't words anymore.

Ari! My lovely! I did not forget your birthday, I just was not home to my computer at all yesterday, but I just wanted to belatedly come say that I hope it was FABULOUS and you had much confetti and that everything was lovely. (And also that I am very sorry I abruptly stopped replying to you - it was not out of reduced delight to talk to you again, but instead out of an explosion in my own life that has rippled through the months and made doing anything but dwelling on it feel like something of a chore - but I do still miss you, and hopefully we can talk again soon. I hope you a truly well in the meantime. <3)

Dear Ari,
I don't know a lot of things. I don't know where you are or what you're doing or how you're life is going. I don't know if you ever come on dA, or Skype. I don't know if you want to hear from me. I do know I promised you that of course I would not be offended if you needed more time. BUT I also know that your birthday was four days ago (21st, if I'm right??), and that I love you and miss you very much, so I hope your birthday was ABSOLUTELY STUNNING and that your life is going wonderfully.
Love,
Kit
Happy belated~! <3

Writing buddies should be up by now! Are they not for you?

Oh my god this week...this week...there are no words for this week.
Bio exam on Monday (Bio lab on Monday)
Chem exam on Wednesday
Meetings with chem, writing, and history professors (Tues/Weds/Thurs)
Bio exam tomorrow (Bio lab tomorrow)
Chem quiz Weds (Chem lab Weds)
Writing essay Thurs

Shoot meeee. I've only been able to set aside like an hour each day for actual writing ): this does not make me happy. Why do professors always stuff insane amounts of death and destruction into November??

Ouch, I hope the midterm went well! And the rest of it. So much, so much!

(Yeah, writing buddies went up right after I checked, after posting that...oops)
(By the way, yay/congrats on writing so far )

Holy snap, Ari! At least I'm through the exams (well, that's a lie- French quiz Monday and German test Friday, but those are pretty easy); I've just got two essays (although one is 25% of my grade ). Do you have any days WITHOUT tests?!
Still, you've been doing pretty well despite all that craziness! I mean, 18k is nothing to sneeze at, even if teachers DO conspire to put everything during NaNo.

The midterm went awfully, my essay... I had no real thesis and made a lot of vague assumptions I couldn't back up. XD It was on the FIRST DAY OF NANO! Then I found out my professor is doing NaNo, too... I think she did it so she could write while we took the test.

Thanks! And congrats to YOU, too!

I would be crying in pain if I had those - languages are not my gift! (And yet I'm going to be taking Greek - at the same time as biochemistry. This is what I get for deciding I want to double in Bio/Classical History)

Speaking of tests worth insane amounts of your grade; I get back my history test (which was last Friday) this week...50% of our grade in the class. Oh the joy. I am so -thrilled- to get it back. [/sarcasm]

There are a few days without tests, but there's usually a chem quiz every other week, and a writing essay every other week, so those alternate...and the bio exams were only stacked this week because we had the godawful plant test (30-40 plant genuses, each with ~2-5 species, and we had to identify them in the field. The karmatic gods owe me big time for the studying for that one).

Ew, I hate it when your thesis ends up being all floobily. Yes, that is a word now. Even better is when you get to the end of an essay and realize that your thesis is totally not your thesis, but it's too late to go back and change it. Aw, I hope it turns out well for you though! Sometimes those actually work!

(Also, that is awesome about your professor)

I'm hoping next

Ameko-Shadowsong In reply to Ashelflaed [2011-11-07 02:22:38 +0000 UTC]

Ah, but I adore languages! Taking Greek, though?! You astonish me! I want to hear all about it.

...oh yikes. Best of wishes on that, though knowing you, I'm sure you aced it. Did I mention you astonish me? Ari, is there anything you CAN'T do?! Art, writing, and all that crazy science. Those exams sounds like murder. You'd BETTER get your good karma.

I am also stealing floobily as a word and will use it in my novel as soon as possible. XD Oh, that second bit makes me crazy! That's why I often don't even write my introductions first, because I don't really know what I'm trying to say until I say it. XD -so organized- Man I so belong in the English major, you can tell by the legit way I write essays.

I do think it's pretty cool my professor is also NaNo-ing. She said she's writing fantasy, too, and I kind of really want to go talk to her about her novel, but I don't know if she'll want to share. XD

"I'm hoping next" is where that message left off, and you're keeping me in suspense. I suspect it's "I'm hoping next week will be easier," but it could also be "I'm hoping the next time I face a dragon, I'll have a better-forged sword," or perhaps, "I'm hoping next time I see you will be next week, since I'll be in Colorado as of Thursday," so would you mind finishing that sentence? ;D

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ashelflaed In reply to Ameko-Shadowsong [2011-11-07 17:47:19 +0000 UTC]

I think languages are fascinating, but I have no tongue for them at all. Tongue, because reading them is not the problem, it's speaking and hearing them. Which is why I'm hoping Greek will go better, because I want it primarily for reading first-hand sources, not for, well, communicating with -live- people!

(Of course the class probably requires an auditory/spoken component too, which will make my grades nosedive faster than a speeding bullet, but I'll deal with that when it gets here)

Ah, we will see; I missed a few easy ones, unfortunately, so that does not bode well. And certainly; the list of things I fail horribly and miserably at is considerably longer than the list of things I can do take math, and all things even remotely related...ugh. Speaking of which, the chem quiz is on thermodynamics. Math. Yay.

Writing the introductions last is probably a good idea; I tend to go back and tweak them if I can (non-timed papers) and just pray that they hold up if I can't (in class, frantic, pen flying everywhere). I must say that's an awesome way to organize papers

Pff, of course she'll want to share (hopefully)! Who doesn't want to spaztastically ramble on about their doomed plotlines, their failing protagonists, their jumbled ideas...it's half the fun of November!

Whoops, the computer bit off the last part. As much as I wish it was "I'm hoping next week I'll be in Colorado", it's more likely to be "I'm hoping next time you hear from me I'm not a twitching heap of bawling misery after a lab spent grave-hopping". No, I do not kid, our lab today involves plundering a cemetery.

(On the other foot, I believe it was originally meant to be "hopefully next weekend there will be time to actually write and get caught up", but that sounded less cool than grave-hopping)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ameko-Shadowsong In reply to Ashelflaed [2011-11-07 22:10:19 +0000 UTC]

Oh well, I've been taking French for 11 and a half years and I STILL think reading and writing is easier than speaking and hearing. XD If you're taking a first-year language course, I'm pretty sure your teacher will understand that it's FIRST YEAR....

Agh, math. Math! What to say about math.

I think that about sums it up.

Well, grave-hopping is WAY more exciting than sitting at a computer! You should probably put it in your novel. |8 Um... actually please tell me all about this grave-hopping, because it sounds awesome. Well, I'M hoping that next week you'll be in Colorado, even if I'll be severely disappointed.

Our Greek/Latin courses are pretty notorious, so I'm not holding out much hope - but I would love to be proven wrong! Wow, 11 years...that's a lot of French! I suppose it goes without saying that you must like it XD

Math just gets a cold stare from me. It is worthy of no more. Maybe a strangling motion. Or a stick.

If any of my characters end up being stuck in a cemetery, forced to count dates of birth and ages of death, I will give them a cookie. Because they will deserve it.
(I lie, it wasn't that bad, just a lot of squinting at really faded inscriptions and trying to tell if that's a 3 or an 8 or a 1 or a 7. There are some pretty impressive people; one tombstone I misread as the woman being 123 years old when she died! Turns out she was (only!) 101. And another poor family just did not learn; their first daughter (Hannah) died when she was a month old. So they promptly named their next daughter Hannah, who again died after a year. The third daughter, Anna, died at two years. Note to self: never name daughters Anna/Hannah variants...)

I would so much rather be in Colorado next week ): then I wouldn't have to do my essays...

Ameko-Shadowsong In reply to Ashelflaed [2011-11-08 03:43:23 +0000 UTC]

Wellllll... I know you can do it. >) My first six years of French were required learning, but after that, I took it for fun... and yes, I really love it. It's one of my majors now.

Um... perhaps you can encourage a slightly more exciting scene in a cemetery than counting dates of birth and death. XD At least you were doing something different! My labs in, say, biology usually involved sitting inside and poking things.
...oh my goodness, I guess they really loved the name Hannah, but really. XD

I just want to say that I hate myself so much sometimes. I spent ~6 hours yesterday staring at the computer screen, forcing myself to get out about one word per ten minutes on my essay, not being able to write coherent sentences at all, not even able to -outline- (I never outline, shame on me). I had -one- paragraph done.

Today I sit down and manage to babble out five pages worth of...something...in about two hours. You know those days where you just cannot write anything to save your life?

I hate those days.
