Talia sat with her legs crossed on the porch of the general store. She watched the rain fall hard and the old woman argue with someone on the phone inside the store. Leaning back against the wall she continued to stare blankly.

Metzger walked past Talia and into the general store. Although he only needed to buy one item, he took a lot longer than usual because he was interested in why the old woman was yelling. He walked out of the store with a spool of fishing line and looked over to Talia. "Do you know why that woman is yelling on the phone, Miss?" he asked her.

Talia looked at the man and smirked. "That old hag is naging at her husband. She knows hes with his other woman, but he is claiming he's not." She crossed her arms and continued to watch the rain.

Metzger looked back at the woman on the phone and then back to Talia. "I've never understood that about people. If they're so unhappy with each other, why don't they just leave each other?" he said. He pulled some fishing line out of the spool and started tugging on it to test its strength.

"She's tired of divorces. She's had twelve." She looked up at him. "And later i'll get chewed out for slacking." She closed her eyes and listened to the rain.

"What a dumb bitch." Metzger muttered under his breath. He began to walk off the porch but stopped when he noticed it was raining much harder than before. "The rain is really picking up now. My tent is probably ruined by now."

"If you want you can stay at my place. I usually allow travlers to stay since i got extra bedrooms." Talia offered and opened one eye.

Metzger gave Talia a smile. "I'd be honored, Miss. I'd just need to gather my belongings at my camp." he said before stepping off the porch and into the rain. The cold water didn't bug him, but the fact that his clothes were now wet did. "Oh, and do you have a washer at your house?"

She gave him a thumbs up and waved him off. She stood up, dusted herself off, and walked back into the store.

Metzger hurried to his camp and gathered his supplies. He worried that if he took a long time her shift might end and she might go without him. About half an hour later he came back to the porch of the store. His shoes and bottom of his pant legs were covered in mud and his clothes were soaked. He took a look in the window to see if she was still there.

Talia grabbed her messanger bag before walking out and smiled at him. "Ready?" She asked looking at his dirty clothes. She pulled out a umbrella and held it out slightly so he could get under it.

Metzger smiled softly and stood next to her. "Miss, what is your name? I'd like to find a way to thank you for your hospitality." He said in a thankful tone. "Are you a vegetarian? I'm excellent at cooking meat."

She smiled sweetly at his kindness. "Talia. And I do eat meat. You are?" She asked.

"I'm Metzger. It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Talia." His tone was both pleasant and polite. "Do you have any preference on meat. Fish? Mammal? Bird?"

"Any i'm not picky." She giggled and started to walk on a dirt path.

The giggling made him blush a little bit. "I'll see what I have with me." He said as he walked beside her. "Do you want me to hold the umbrella for you?"

"I'm fine, thank you. We're here anyways." She pointed to a medium size house with a small wooden gate in the front. She opened it and allowed him in.

Metzger nodded and followed up to the door. He slipped off his shoes and socks before following inside. "Sorry for dragging water into your house."

"It's ok, i've had worse brought into my house." She reassured him and led him upstairs. She opened a door revealing a medium sized bedroom. "The bathroom is the door to the right." She pointed to the door inside the bedroom.

Metzger smiled and started walking to the bathroom. "Miss, if I hand you my clothes could you wash them for me?" he asked as he waited by the door.

"Not a problem." She closed the door and waited outside for him to hand her his clothes.

Metzger wondered how long the rain would last as he begun to undo his tie. Because he had an outdoor stand, selling would be very difficult in the rain and he'd be better off not even trying. Once he removed all his clothing he folded it up neatly and slightly opened the door to hand them to her.

Talia kindly took the clothes and walked downstairs. She put the dirty clothes in the washing machine before heading into a room.

Once Metzger was done showering he wrapped a towel around himself and walked out of the living room.

She walked out of the room and tossed his clothes into the drier. "I have some old mens clothes you can borrow." She offered and walked over to a closet.

Metzger scratched his head. "Old men? You mean like the elderly?" He asked as he followed her.

"Yeah, its mostly old guys who stay with me. Dont worry I got young mens clothing to." She giggled and grabbed a pair of pants and a shirt and handed it to him.

Metzger smiled and nodded. "Thank you, Miss Talia. I'll be going to my room now." He went inside and closed the door. He tried the clothes on but they felt starchy and uncomfortable so he decided to keep them off and stay in the room.

She stayed downstairs and started to prepare dinner. When it was almost finished she walked upstairs and lightly nocked on his door. "Dinner is about ready."

Metzger looked over to the door. He didn't want to be rude and refuse dinner, but he also didn't want to wear those clothes. "Miss Talia...I can't wear the clothes you gave me. They're too uncomfortable."

A small giggle escaped her lips. "Your clothes should be done drying, i'll bring them up." She walked down stares and came back up with his clothes folded and ironed.

Metzger opened the door and smiled. "Thank you very mu-"" he was cut off as his towel nearly fell off but he caught it. With a deep blush he grabbed his clothes and shut the door.

Talia quickly placed her hand over her mouth to cover her blush and to stiffle her laughter. She rushed down stairs and burst into laughter in the kitchen.

A minute later Metzger walked back into the kitchen, his face still red. He silt sat at the table.

Talia placed the food on the table and snickered. Her cheeks were still a dark green from laughing so hard. "Dont worry I will not tell anybody about your towel almost fell." She assured him.

Metzger kept a blank face as he said. "Thank you, Miss Talia." If there was one thing he couldn't stand it was being humiliated. His mind already started thinking of ways he could get his revenge.

She set two placed,took a seat and closed her eyes for a few seconds. When she opened them she fixed her plate and started to eat.
