# About me

I'm Elliot, or Ell as some people call me (few have gone as far as "L" though), 16 and from the sunny, sunny land of Scotland. And no, I don't wear a kilt on a daily basis;)
My aspiration is to get into the comics industry and work for Marvel, specifically it's Ultimate line, release some creator-owned projects and get a chance to meet (or even work with) my favourite comic creators. So obviously, my user ID name is a bit out of date now. I've drawn since I was little, but only recently really focused on what art style I want to work in, which why I have few sequentials. My favourite comic creators are (in no particular order) Mark Millar, JRJR, Adam Kubert, , Ben Oliver, Nobuhiro Watsuki, Joe Quesada, Joe "Mad" Madureira, Noriaki 'Tite' Kubo, Steve McNiven, , Alan Moore, Brian Michael Bendis, , Chris Bachalo, , Humberto Ramos, Warren Ellis, Paco Medina, Dan Slott, Greg Pakk, Daniel Way, Steve Dillon, Carry Nord, David Finch, Stuart Immonen and
Comments, Critique and s are much appreciated, so is advice on how to get into comics and how to draw better.

Thanks Roy, it's not actually my Birthday 0 just my DA one

Thanks though

How's it going? Pick up CLiNT?

D'oh! well it's the thought that counts

Oops, I completely forgot about CLiNT

I'm fine thanks mate, although I've been a lazy sod. Need to pick up the pace, and pull my adamantium pencil out of my ass

You watched The Green Lantern trailer yet? the film seems to be shaping up for major summer eye candy. Let's hope Thor and Captain America do the same

No worries

It's worth a look, just a good bit of fun

Sounds good Been pretty busy myself.

Yeah, looks pretty cool, though at some points the CGI looked a little off (maybe it was the video quality, not see it in the cinema). Thor looks cool, and so does Cap from the pics I've seen. Seen the pics of the new Spider-man? Looks good, different though, but not too different.

WAITWAITWAIT!

Imagine.. Kinder garden Cop.. But with Jean-Claude Van Damme instead..

The one that was the 'Torminatur'.

That would be...I'm not sure that would be allowed.

You couldn't have Dolph Lungren or Stallone in 'Jingle All The Way' God-Dammit!

noncannonfireworks In reply to Aspiring-Mangaka [2011-01-09 23:21:22 +0000 UTC]

I always thought his best work was Hercules in New York, if you don't know it look it up.

Pretty sure regardless of whatever happens in the first 70 minutes it'll end with him fighting a bald shirtless man in a prison.

I think having Stallone instead makes some of those scenes a bit... sinister..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aspiring-Mangaka In reply to noncannonfireworks [2011-01-11 12:13:50 +0000 UTC]

I'll have to watch that. How does it compre to "GET TO THA CHOPPAAAA"?

That's pretty much a common scene in any Ahnuld film. Or something similar.

I know what you mean. Stallone would scare (and scar) the kids, I'd say. Seen The Expendables?

He pins a bear onto the ground and starts punching it..

I don't think so, he's not as gritty as Van Damme. Hell Van Damme these days is the face of suffering. Have you seen his serious stuff? Jesus titty christ..

Oh god don't remind me..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aspiring-Mangaka In reply to noncannonfireworks [2011-01-12 16:13:35 +0000 UTC]

I mean due to his veins-ass arms and fucked up face. THAT would scare them.

Not actually seen any of Van Damme's stuff beside one movie my mate showed me about 5 years ago. Something Heat?
"Jesus titty christ" in a good way, or in a bad way?

I actually enjoyed it. It has as much story as Pac Man, maybe even less, but it's fun to watch. Muting scenes with dialogue makes it a lot more enjoyable. There's a strange thrill from seeing action stars just wailing on each other and undetered extras.

I've seen too many, now I'm poisoned by them. It's the curse of people who aren't really alive till after 1am. Jesus Titty Christ in a.. I don't know what emotion too attach to it, but I know there's too much of it.

Afraid I've not produced much work, apart from the recent Spartacus upload. I'm still trying to improve the manipulations, and also striving to fool people into thinking there illustrations lol (cheeky wink)

I kinda gathered you'd been a lil busy, as you haven't posted any new artwork over the summer, then again either have I

Woah where have you been. No doubt plummeting into the pits of madness from glimpsing at that thing I bet..

Haha no not really, but if you think that's funny you should see the justice league they had in Smallville, and the Hawkman, oh man just looking at him... He looks like a patriotic gimp person.

It was alright, got a tablet and a pair of socks for every day of the week except the weekend, regretfully, unless I show a woman my Wednesday socks on a Saturday night in a attempt to be an "ironic" douche..

Also remember that comic we talked about? Yeah Liam's drawing it. He kinda fit into the idea really smoothly, I I could still show you the script if you like. I can also put together a script for something else if you're not too busy with school. Shorter even, if that's handier.

Aspiring-Mangaka In reply to noncannonfireworks [2011-01-09 13:10:04 +0000 UTC]

Exactly that. And school. And snow. And work.

Smallville makes me groan - it's an involuntary response, it just happens.

Nice

Ah right, cool. Sounds good to me, working on something at the moment though, if I play it right I can get a job with CLiNT magazine working for Mark Millar, so that'd be pretty cool. Might upload some stuff from it. Been taking a while though, mostly been doing coursework rather than my own stuff so I haven't had anything to upload in ages.

And then you died. They made a movie but it's the kind that's all in French and never shown before midnight so only people like me and drug addicts end up watching it.
Unless there's some Hitchcock on on the other channel, then you're on your own.

Television in general, and hollywood. The gems are getting harder to find it seems. Have you seen the trailer for Thor? Looks alot more interesting than the Green Lantern is atm.

Hey work is work in my opinion, if you're drawing everyday it turns you into a god on paper and something closer to a hobo everywhere else. Gotta jump at those chances I geuss. Myself I'm just trying to write, rough draft and draw as many short stories as I can. Yknow, explore things creatively.

Aspiring-Mangaka In reply to noncannonfireworks [2011-01-11 15:28:12 +0000 UTC]

Aw, what about the DVD sales?

Thor does look good, Green Lantern didn't grab me but he never has. TF3 can get stuffed, the first two were crap and Michael Bay and Shia LeBouf are still involved in it.
Looking forward to Avengers and Captain America - from what I've read in CLiNT they've got Cap's movie spot on.

Sounds good, keep at it I say. I'm just focusing on my Art portfolio, English dissertaion and CLiNT submission - they're taking up enough time as it is. Be good to get the CLiNT submission out the way, it's been annoying me (not that I don't enjoy it, it's just annoying me how slow progress is due to schoolwork). Also, there's a competition for drawing the cover of the brochure that's getting handed out at KAPOW! Comic-Con in London by Millar, so I'm looking to enter that too. Might try and go to it too, not sure what's up school-wise in April.

noncannonfireworks In reply to Aspiring-Mangaka [2011-01-14 01:27:56 +0000 UTC]

The DVDs aren't available anymore but if your lucky there's a VCR version hidden in a second-hand sop in Turkey.

I find the Green Lantern interesting myself, I heard that there's alot of bad stories but the good ones are really worth reading.
Ah Michael Bay...

Ah sounds like you have your hands full yet, good stuff! I also gotta try putting together a portfolio again which is alot more terrifying this year seeing as I have almost no realistic pencil drawings or painting less than a year old. Also thinking of applying to some UK colleges too.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aspiring-Mangaka In reply to noncannonfireworks [2011-01-14 17:38:42 +0000 UTC]

Buggeration...

Green Lanterns always interested me, but never grabbed me if you know what I mean. Plus, DC and Marvel have gotten to the point where it's hard to jump onto a new book. For example, if you want to read a current Wolverine story you have to choose from Weapon X, Best There Is, Wolverine and Spider-man, Astonishing X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, Uncanny X-Force, X-Force etc. and then to know what's going on you need to get Messiah War, Origins, Origins & Endings etc. and to understand them you need to buy... You get the picture. The Big Bang Theory tackle that issue quite well in one episode.

Ever seen 'Michael Bay getting his mail?' Fantastic.

I know what you mean - I've been building mine but with how busy I am and the fact I'm not particularly fast makes me worry I won't have it done in time to apply this year.
Cool, never know, we could end up at the same one.
