Allot of cool stuff on your page here and very nice work on all the modeling and sculpting. I was wondering if any of your hi poly models are used for any game programs or is the count just too high?
I have been modeling for a bit now and I try to learn all I can from anywhere
π: 0 β©: 1
Azetlor In reply to EvilOverseer [2011-03-21 15:35:19 +0000 UTC]
the hi poly sculpt is used to generate a normal map which is applied to a lower poly version of the sculpt. depending on your computer you can bring them into max and/or maya to use as reference when ur creating your low poly version. there's some great tools that can bring a sculpt from 18 million polys to something u can bring into a game program with little loss of quality. one i use is in zbrush called decimation master.

ah ok, I remember this process. I tired it once and got a bit lost when I was trying to explode my hi poly mesh for a door to be baked on a lower ploy mesh for the normals, color map and lighting maps. Just got a bit too frustrated to try and get the process down correctly, I have not really touched Z-brush but have played with Mud box. What do you think of the two in comparison for your modeling style?

Ah i unfortunately don't have the full scene anymore. I had to switch to a new computer and it got lost along with alot fo older environment work. Also i generally, as a habit, don't send out any 3d work unless it's to an employer. Sorry Dood

No problem, as a side note any progress on possible shots of the Proton Pack and its upgrades? Sorry to bother you about this, if you cant get them its understandable. I know some people are very protective of there work. Were Chef DeForrest(DeMassi? Sargossa?) and Slimer the only 2 characters you modeled?
π: 0 β©: 1
Azetlor In reply to WimblesTheCreator [2009-08-17 21:08:58 +0000 UTC]
I modeled the paper zombies, the long range cultists, grave monster, black slime floater, Spiderwitch, opera singer, the 2 phantoms (blue ghosts), gargoyle, spider scuttlers, and the Spider Witch as well. altho most of them had a very strict deadline so i'm cleaning them up a bit before i post anything of them. I'll ask the man who made the pack today if he has some pictures i can put up and credit him with their creation. i'm re-rendering teh chef today with a new light setup i am playing with so hopefully you'll see those by the end of teh day.

Awesome, loved the spiderwitch(as im guessing you did too as you mentioned her twice) loved the black slime floaters even if they were evil little buggers. And Crusto/Cruster were eerie, especially Cruster( looks a special kind of evil). And definaley cant wait to see an even more polished Chef DeForrest. Are the long range cultists the obese summoner ones? And even though i dont expect or have the meens to force you to reply, is there any word on possible downloadable content in the future? Even if its just to use the Real Ghostbusters PKE you guys designed? Like i said though you can just pretend that question isnt even there. Dont want you revealing anything you dont want to, especially as the game hasnt been out that long and the chances are you guys dont have a plan yet... Im gonna go look at Chef Deforrest again...

Azetlor In reply to WimblesTheCreator [2009-08-18 15:21:19 +0000 UTC]
spider witch was quite a challenge actually, we remade her environment 3-4 times because we wanted it to feel like she had twisted the hotel into her lair. not sure if you can tell while fighting her but her mouth splits all the way back near her ear instead of a human mouth, i thought it'd give her some shock/creepy value when she bites at you. not sure i can say anything about DLC yet or if there is going to be any but once i am allowed i'll def post something up. We had a local chapter of ghostbusters fans work really close with us on this project which helped us immensely to keep everything as true as we wanted to... well plus dan akroyd was quite awesome himself with wanting to be so involved.

Heard he just kinda came in and decided what was wrong. Proton Torpdeo=Boson Dart and....i dont know anymore, dont think anymore were revealed. Wish you guys could bring out a book or something, i always like the ideas behind things and how they were thought up. Also the little details people miss, bugs me when they dont see the care you guys had. Such as Peter little strut he does instead of the other ghostbusters walk, how playing through once means you wont here all the lines, Bill Murray just going through voices and wacky ideas on the messages, hearing the old advert from the first movie through some of the doors at the sedgewick, the hobo ghosts acting like hobos. Who was Ottos bar named after? I know the childs puppet theatre was named after Austin Cline and such. Last interrogation like question as i see it everywhere on the web, do you know whats supposed to be under the drape behind Peters Office?
Sorry for all the question, i just really like to know the backgrounds to ideas. Such as the uniforms under a box near the containment unit, "Citizen Ghost" reference?

actually i only made teh shell for firehouse (walls, floors, ceilings, pillars, ingame exterior) it was populated with objects by most everyone on the team because cluttering it up was a huge task. you may even se the drawing in teh beginning cutscene that looks like childs drawing on pink construction paper that says by ED. we actually had the whole testing lab do childrens drawings for teh kids room. that area is all kinds of fun. the sound engineer had his children come in and do the sounds and voices for the ambient children ghosts. theres alot of fun inside stuff from the environment guys all over the levels. i'm glad you enjoy looking for them

WimblesTheCreator In reply to Azetlor [2009-08-18 19:28:10 +0000 UTC]
Its easy to tell the fans on your team went wild in the Firehouse. Ray getting the Stay Puft doll on his bed, Lois's desk area having his jumpsuit, The ending screen from a classic ghostbusters game on the computer screen, the helmets from when they went in the subway, the thank you for coming to my birthday drawing, the ED pic, toaster etc. Was it a choice to have only to floors to the Firehouse or did you have limited time OR is it being treated as an Attic area?
I really am drilling you for answers, im determined to have proof that the little nagging problems people find are explainable. Last 2 things(im a sod for this, too much love for what youve created here) Whats the matress thing in the basement and was something going to happen with the basement and the exposed train tracks?
π: 0 β©: 1
Azetlor In reply to WimblesTheCreator [2009-08-18 20:37:04 +0000 UTC]
the train tracks are kinda a nod to the scene with the ghost train in the GB movie i believe. the mattress thing might have jsut been some of teh guys filling up space with premade props to feel more cluttered as far as i know. we only added 2 floors because adding an extra floor would be a much bigger task and we decided ot polish other areas instead of spread manpower out and have 2 areas not fully polished

Gathered it was to do with The Ghostbusters 2 scene and also gathered that was the reason for only 2 levels to the firehouse. Bummer about you not being able to make the viewer for the Containment Unit, would have loved to of seen in there. By the by The Five star chef of yours is now my wallpaper, hope you dont mind. He looks too awesome. Guessing the guy who designed the proton pack upgrades said no, found a video with some of it on though.
