Some things I try to say to myself everyday to keep up motivation:

Compet only with youself.
Always experement, there is no right or wrong way when making art.
Art is 1% talent and 99% hard work. <- And you can't underline that statement enough times.
Everything is hard before it becomes easy.
And if you don't try, you are doomed to fail.
