I know it's spelled differently, but your name made me think of this: Azimuth
Azimuth-Unit: degree Angle between the projection of the normal of a surface onto the horizontal and true north. Measured clockwise. A surface facing east has an azimuth of 90 degrees. A surface facing south has an azimuth of 180 degrees. A surface facing west has an azimuth of 270 degrees.

When I first created this character, I hadn't realized that connection. I had thought it just something I made up. Ironically, when I first used Azymyth for gaming, he was a Ranger, which makes the name rather fitting.
