Ahhh thanks! You got some awesome things too. I thought they were photos until I started reading. Do you work on background game designs or anything of the like?

Nope.  I work in engineering as a drafter.  I just found the program and enjoyed using it.  Unfortunately my computer I have now won't run the program, so I haven't been able to create anything new in a while.

BB-Works In reply to helopilotoh58 [2014-08-22 14:31:56 +0000 UTC]

Nice! What types of things do you draft? Like buildings or mechanical things or something else? Not nice on the fact that the program won't work now, that must suck. Is the computer just not compatible with the program?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

helopilotoh58 In reply to BB-Works [2014-08-22 16:12:34 +0000 UTC]

Depends on the job really.  The company I work for is a jack of all trades type of place.  So one day we're doing mechanical work, the next day I'm designing a steel platform somewhere.

Its the computer.  I bought a cheap laptop four years ago, and it had an integrated graphics processor, which the program doesn't like all that much.

BB-Works In reply to helopilotoh58 [2014-08-25 15:59:43 +0000 UTC]

That sounds even better since you get to work on all sorts of things, not just the same thing over and over. Is what you do in 3D or 2D?

Oh that sounds really lame. Is it possible to upgrade it or add cards to the laptop?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

helopilotoh58 In reply to BB-Works [2014-08-26 12:17:22 +0000 UTC]

Both actually.  I do 2d drawings and model in 3d as well, and then create the 2d drawings from the model.  Still learning our new 3d program though, before I was doing alot of 3d in AutoCAD.  We use Advanced Steel now.

It is...but it can be pricey.  I'd rather just spend the money on a newer laptop.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BB-Works In reply to helopilotoh58 [2014-08-26 19:22:33 +0000 UTC]

Oh nice! Have you ever done any 2D drawings for fun? That would be interesting to see. Is AutoCAD the program you used for your landscapes? Also, any reason for the change? Is Advanced Steel easier to use? More detailed? Different possibilities?

True that, might as well buy a new one at this point.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

helopilotoh58 In reply to BB-Works [2014-08-27 12:22:12 +0000 UTC]

For my landscapes I used Terragen and Terragen 2.  I've done some fun drawings in AutoCAD, but it's on my work computer so I don't get the chance to use it for fun often.  Advanced Steel is a steel detailing package.  Say you're building a building, and it's skeleton is steel.  The structural engineer will specify what the columns and beams are, and where any cross bracing needs to go, but not how exactly to put it all together.  What my job is to essentially create the set of drawings that tell the steel contractor how to put the steel together, with all the connections and what not.  Advance Steel is a program that allows me to do that in a more automated fashion.  Before I used just AutoCAD, and had to draw everything out, now I draw the model and the actual drawings pretty much create themselves.

Exactly.  But the true question is the cost.....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BB-Works In reply to helopilotoh58 [2014-08-27 18:22:35 +0000 UTC]

How hard was it to get the hang of Terragen? Also, can you move around and zoom in on the landscapes you make or is it more like a photograph (still shot)? That's a lot that goes into drafting a building. I had always assumed it was just one person who did both the specifying and the drawing. If there was a second person involved, I had assumed they were more of a editor, just checking to make sure it works, but that's about it. It sounds like fun to piece things together though, especially with the help of the program.

Yuck, I don't even want to think about cost, especially if you want good graphics and processor.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

helopilotoh58 In reply to BB-Works [2014-08-28 12:27:03 +0000 UTC]

It took some time to get used to it.  But it wasn't that hard after I got the basics.  And  yes you can move the camera around and zoom in and such.

There's way more than just two people involved in the drawing of a building.  You have the Architect who only draws pretty pictures of what he wants it to look like, Structural Engineer if needed, Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Civil, etc.  All those drawings have to coordinate with eachother, and sometimes contradict each other.  Then if theres any steel structure, shop drawings have to be created.  Thats where I come in.

You and me both...lol

Aw, man, I know how that feels. My page used to be devoid of watchers, mainly due to lack of fan art. It picked up a bit after I drew some Gorillaz fan art.
But yeah, seriously, your stuff looks great.

Ha maybe some day for me then, I have a few fan art stuff laying around if I get around to them, maybe that will do it. I guess my biggest worry then is people only watching me for the fan art but oh well. (Man I love me some Gorillaz, gotta go check it out now).
Funny thing is I actually found you on some site that I can't remember (i got Stumbled onto it) and it had your Lisa creepypasta. It linked you over to here and here I am.
Thanks so much, it means a lot to get complimented, for reals.

xD That's how most of my current watchers found me. But before that, it was a lot of submitting things to groups and spamming tags and drawing fan art.
Know what I'll do? I'll run a feature on you in my dA journal and send some people your way. Your art is way too great to go unnoticed, mannn.

Oh yeah? That's because they're really catchy.
Yeah, just need to get myself to draw more (some more fan art too while I'm at it). Didn't even think about spamming the tags. What do you write?

asjfhkja!!!!! Oh man I don't even know what to say!!! Thanks isn't cutting it anymore but still! Thanks so much!! aggghhaha!!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

OcularFracture In reply to BB-Works [2014-08-25 13:20:48 +0000 UTC]

What do I write, as in tags? Anything and everything that could possibly relate to the picture. If it's a comic page, it gets obvious stuff like "comic," and a few tags involving the plot-"mustache," etc. But then I'll get really obscure and write stuff like "black and white," "ink," "prismacolor." The more tags you put, the more people will randomly stumble across it!

And no worries! I noticed at least a couple of my old and loyal watchers have migrated your way. I hope more come over. If not, they probably don't read my journals, or they have no taste in art. x]

Ahh, stop it your making me smile too much!
Well besides the traffic I've been having fun talking to you too, so it would be my pleasure to draw something for you.  Now the question is, do you have anything in mind?

OcularFracture In reply to BB-Works [2014-08-27 00:37:41 +0000 UTC]

I've been having fun talking to you, too. I don't really connect with people very often because I'm, like, weird or something.
Ah, man... I never have anything in mind when someone asks me this. >w<
I think it would be enormously awesome to be drawn in your super cool style. But no pressure on that. You are welcome to draw whatever comes to mind. I'll love anything you draw. ^_^

Oh, and I thought I'd mention- I've got this pair of leather goggles with green lenses just lying around in my work room, so every time I walk in there and see them, I think of you cause they remind me a lot of Tom's goggles. ^^
I used to have a hat like that, too... until I did a stupid thing and took it apart to steal the pattern. :C

BB-Works In reply to OcularFracture [2014-08-27 15:44:32 +0000 UTC]

Don't worry your not alone in that aspect. I'm a bit of a loner in the real world (I talk to 1 other person besides my parents) and I find it hard to talk to people online normally (actually, I find it hard to talk to people in general, I never feel that we have something in common to start a conversation off of). I don't think your weird though, I think you're pretty freaking awesome, seriously, there's like, nothing you can't do, you even garden! (And if doing all that DOES make you weird then I guess I'm pretty weird myself).

I'd gladly draw you! Do you have a certain pose or picture in mind? (I'm totally not being a creeper and looking around for pics of you by the way >.> ) Your welcome to be as specific as you like (it makes it easier on me)

I feel flattered again . I seriously need to get my hands on a pair of goggles like that sometime (everyone should have some sexy goggles on hand). I feel you on the hat. I had a hat like it but the wrong color, but I never got a chance to steal the pattern because I ended up loosing it before I did. Live and learn, I suppose.

OcularFracture In reply to BB-Works [2014-08-28 14:10:26 +0000 UTC]

For me, it's a bit easier to talk to people online, but it's rare that I actually connect with any of them. In real life, I'm so freaking awkward I never know what to say. And yet, for some reason that I will never even begin to understand, people always seem to feel like they can confide their darkest most personal secrets in me, even though I'm a total stranger. Maybe I just have the face of a therapist? But a lot of times when I go somewhere and I get talking to someone accidentally, I find that after only a few minutes, they start unloading baggage onto me, sometimes really awful stuff, and I'm just like O__O; with no idea how to respond other than to offer sympathy and wish them well. This happened to me at a goodwill a couple weeks ago when the clerk was ringing me up. No one else was in line, so he just kinda kept me there for a good 15-20 minutes talking about his past girlfriends (some of them dead?) and his present girlfriend and about how her ex broke in to their house the previous night to start drama... And then how he was in the military briefly and is now on certain medications for mental disorders... Jeez. @_@ I was so happy to get out of there.
Sorry for the rant. I just think it's bizarre when total strangers have that kind of honesty toward me. It's different when I get to know someone for awhile before they open up to me. Maybe some of them just really don't have anyone to talk to, and I give off some kind of weird comfort vibes. I always listen, though, because I worry that some of those people might be at the end of their rope and they're just desperate for anyone to listen, and maybe if someone does, they won't jump or pull the trigger or whatever. I wonder if I've ever actually made a difference like that...

ANYWAY. You are pretty freaking awesome yourself! And thanks for saying all that stuff! I get that jack of all trades thing from my grandpa. That guy is insane and can do anything ever. He's like MacGyver in his final form. Give him like an empty flour bag, some tape, and a cup of coffee and he'll make an aged-looking scroll. He makes things out of metal and wood, too. I need to learn his ways.

Ahaha, no worries! I have tons of old pictures of myself in my gallery. I've lost a ton of weight since most of them were taken, and as always, I changed my hair again. I'm trying not to change it anymore. It's a terrible habit. I don't have any recent pictures on dA, really, cause I haven't been feeling the self-portrait thing as much as I used to. But I'll link you to a recent picture. It's kind of dark, but it's the most recent one I have. sta.sh/02btu9odcy3b
The picture doesn't show it, but my hair is about down to my ear lobes and it's kind of fluffy-looking... Like a duck butt. xD

Poses. Um... I don't even know. But I want to make it easier on you! Maybe holding a basket of garden veggies? Otherwise, if something comes to mind that you're more comfortable drawing, feel free!
And yessss, goggles are amazing. I've got two different pairs, both with green lenses. Sucks that you lost the hat! I lost the um... remains of my hat. So now I can't steal the pattern either. It must be some defense mechanism. It runs away to escape revealing its trade secrets.

BB-Works In reply to OcularFracture [2014-08-28 19:50:08 +0000 UTC]

Oh I definitely agree, it's a little bit easier to talk to someone online rather than real life (in real life I always wait for the other person to start talking). The connection is the problem, I'm always wondering how long we can talk before my weirdness starts showing through the conversation and even then if we will continue talking you know?

Oh man that's crazy, sometimes it's hard to believe that some people can actually have crazy lives like that! I always feel awkward when people bring things like that up in real life. It's like this, I couldn't even figure out what to say to friends I had at the time to console them whenever crazy things would happen, so I can't even imagine what I would say if someone started telling me their life story and I didn't know them (probably the same as I did with friends: sympathy and sorry).
But yeah, it is pretty odd for someone to open themselves up to someone like that, but at the same time I get where you get your thoughts on the matter from. I imagine it's like you said, they don't have anyone to turn to or anyone whose willing to listen to them. If I were in their shoes and just wanted to vent, I would want to do it with a stranger. The chances of running into them again are slim and they likely won't have much input (besides sorries and sympathy), so you wouldn't have to listen to the "well if you did this.." or "that's what happens.."; simply put, just someone to hear you out without pointing out stuff. You've probably made a difference by simply listening, that's something not a lot of people do. On another note, I think they confide in you because your face looks kind so you probably give of the comfy feels as well.
Also, don't be sorry about ranting, I like listening to people rant.

Aw thank you!   He sounds like an awesome man! HA! MacGyvers final form indeed, that's amazing. Seriously, you should ask him to teach you the basics for both. Not only are they free lessons, but that's one way to build a bigger bond. Also, what types of woodworking does he do, like carving, building, both?

Congrats on the weight loss, even though I'll miss your cheeks, they were absolutely adorable. Also your hair looks really cute right now. And yay to duck butt! I never was able to get the duck butt look to stay in my hair (maybe it's too heavy and the fact I'm too lazy to style it most of the time).
Anyways, to the changing the hair habit, I say why not keep doing it? I have that same habit as well, even though right now I'm trying to grow it out again, but now that there's enough hair to do something with, the temptation is there. XD
That helps, I'll see what I can come up with.

Oh nice! I don't know why, but green lenses have to be one of the sexiest ones, maybe it's because it also happens to be my favorite color. Also colored glass is just sexy. I wonder if they made them in other colors as well? Ha, maybe it really is trying to hide it's secrets. However I found someone who's experimenting with the pattern,  csews.com/hats/wool-newsboy-ca…
Not so secret now, runaway hat/remains! Sadly no set measurements but the basic pattern is there. I'll have to experiment on this once we get another sewing machine.

Mm-hmm! I generally end up scaring people away within a month for one reason or another. I guess they just can't handle my unique brand of weird. ^^

It's a double edged blade, my face. While a lot of people find it comforting, there's also the random people who see me as an easy target for being a complete ass to. It happens way more often than it should. I'm just walking along minding my own business and someone will randomly insult me or make a rude sound, laugh, or just outright scream at me. I guess that's a huge part of the reason I don't like to go out much. I get enough harassment online. But yeah. I like to think that listening makes a difference. An uncomfortable hour of my life might equate to several more years of someone else's life.

Ah, grandpa. He does everything. He builds furniture and has also built garages and porches and the like. And at the same time, he carves and makes things like knives and swords. Last time I went over, he showed me a... very interesting dagger he made where the handle resembled certain genitalia. (He is also a very odd type of guy. He has long white hair and walks around shirtless smoking a pipe. Also his face is grey because he went through a phase where he drank silver water and got way more than he needed for his life time.) He makes medicine out of herbs that he grows or finds in the wild, and he brews his own mead. He even does screen printing. I have way too many trades I want him to teach me. xD

Aww, really? Most people comment on my cheekbones themselves. I don't think anyone's ever complimented the actual cheeks. ^^ Don't worry, they still get chubby when I smile. That will always happen no matter how much I lose.
I found a picture a couple weeks ago of me back in 2011. My face was enormous. I couldn't believe I ever looked like that. It's a good thing to have around, though, to remind myself of what I did wrong so I can try hard to avoid it later.

I'll probably always change my hair constantly. It's just an inevitability with me. Every time I say I'm going to stop, I end up getting sick of looking at it and change it again. I think most of all, I miss my long, long blonde hair. I hate myself for cutting it. But it was so damaged, I had to. ;-;

Green lenses rock! I know at least one of the pairs I have came in other colors, because I met someone who had the exact pair, only with red lenses. The greenies are superior, of course. And OHMYGOSH!! I want to make that hat! I love to sew~ I can't use a machine, though. It always screws up on me and it just doesn't do as precise a job as I do by hand. But it's not a big deal, cause for me, I find it's more rewarding to know that I made something all by hand. That's why I also like knitting, but that takes much, much longer. I made a scarf for someone last winter, and it took me like three months to finish it. @_@

BB-Works In reply to OcularFracture [2014-08-29 16:51:12 +0000 UTC]

Aw, that sucks dude, I can't believe people actually do things like that, what assholes. The only people here who would do things like that are the hobos/junkies. But yeah, people in the outside world suck sometimes. Beh. The things nice people put up with sometimes.

Seriously, your grandpa sounds like the awesome grandpa that you see in adventuring stories (the eccentric village elder type thing going on here). He also sounds like someone who would be a lot of fun to draw. I wish I knew someone like that in the real world, I'd go over any chance I could. XD

You do have nice cheekbones, I just have a thing for cheeks. Yay! Glad the cheeks are still there when you smile. Though I see what you mean, I recently lost my chubby cheeks (out of nowhere too because I've gained weight O.o ) but when I smile, they're so prominent still. I remember making a mask in high school for art class and in the area where the cheeks were, I could probably fit a golf ball perfectly in each and I wasn't even smiling. XD
Ha! If any of the pics on your page are from 2011 I have to say you're exaggerating, your face was not enormous. Round, yes (more like heart-shaped really) but it was super cute! It's definitely a lot slimmer now though. Yeah, pics for motivation are good, the most I have for motivation are some t-shirts that are a little too tight now. >_>'

It's so easy to give yourself a new makeover with hair. It's always, "I wonder if I can pull it off... well it'll grow back if not!" - snip!  Aw man, damaged hair sucks, it's been a while since that's happened, but it's never fun. Especially because there's nothing you can do to fix it. Yeah, the hardest style to do is long hair, especially when you like changing it all the time. XD Man I wish I were blonde sometimes so I could dye it easier, having dark hair sucks during those times. My mom traumatized me with the whole bleaching your hair, you're going to go bald thing, so I don't really like doing it. I suppose then the other problem is, I like weird colors for hair, (I had it dark purple once, it was awesome) and I can't find inexpensive crazy color dyes that last for more than 2 weeks.

For sure, green is definitely superior, though red is nice too (just not as nice as green). I actually don't know how to use a machine. XD But it's one of those old ones that you manually have to push the pedal to make it work. So far the terrors that I've heard about it is if you lose rhythm, it can start sewing backwards, or something like that. But yeah, I love sewing too, I just haven't done it so for so long (or as much as I'd like too in that case). I like sewing things by hand normally because whenever I do get around to sewing, it's always small things like dolls. And with something that small I agree, it's more precise by hand for sure. I just don't trust myself to sew something bigger by hand because I sew way too tightly, it ends up making the edges start curling. which is something I don't want for the hat. XD
Oh knitting is nice, the patterns and textures you can do with it are really nice looking. I wish I knew how to knit, but I can barely even crochet, so bleh. I imagine it takes long, a friend made me a long scarf for Christmas some time ago, I don't think I got it until March or something though. XD

My grandpa is amazing. xD He's like 70 and on Facebook. My favorite was when he took a topless mirror selfie and posted it on his Facebook. xD It was just too funny.

It's so strange how you like all the things I was bullied for, like my "chipmunk cheeks." Chipmunk cheeks, freckles, elf ears, and of course being a fatty... even though I so wasn't back then. My figure was always just more mature than others my age. :C
The thing about those pictures is that I always knew the precise angle to take them at so that they'd look good. The one I found the other day was not one of those. It was a dead center straight on shot of my face with no makeup and not smiling. I guess by only taking pictures that looked good, I managed to trick myself into believing I was never all that big. But when I saw that picture, it made me jump. My lips looked so tiny in comparison with the rest of my head, which looked swollen to me. It was just bad. Here: sta.sh/018e78s4ndgt I made that for Throwback Thursday last week or so.

Ah dude, I've had my hair so many awesome colors! Mostly shades of pink, but I've also had purple, orange, red, teal... Probably more, but I lose track. My favourite was the long, long pink hair I had last winter. Hnnng. 38.media.tumblr.com/e22dc02c63… (Those glasses are so fake.)
The main problem I have with my hair is that I'll look back at a random picture from a random time and go "Man, I miss my hair like that." But it happens with pretty much any color or style I've ever had, so I keep on changing it repeatedly.

I tried learning to use a machine, but it was just not my thing. I like sewing dolls and purses and stuff like that, too. I once made a pretty jacket completely by hand. I think it's stashed away in a closet somewhere. But it's still pretty.
Don't write off knitting just yet. Generally, people can do one or the other. Rare creatures have been known to do both. My mom is a crochet person, and she tried multiple times to teach me, but I just didn't get it. Because of that, I automatically thought that knitting would be this huge horrible thing on another level from hell. But actually, a friend in California taught me in a single afternoon over FaceTime and I picked it up like I'd been doing it my whole life. It's really not as hard or as intimidating as people make it seem. It makes perfect sense to me where crocheting I just can't get my head around. It also helps if you have someone teach you who is good at teaching. I think it just seems harder because for some reason most people have an easier time crocheting and hardly anyone can knit, so it gives the illusion that if you can't get the hang of crochet, you'll never get the hang of knitting. But it probably just means that most of the world has their brains wired a bit differently than the minority of us whose brains are wired for knitting. xD

Omg stop it, you're making my want to meet him that much more! Seriously, so much fun.

I suppose it is odd, but I can't help it, those are things that just pop out to me and are so cute. I don't think I've gotten to see your ears, sounds adorable though, like they point at the end? (so far the pics I have of you are just partial ear shots so I can't tell.) Still sucks that you got bullied, especially because they did it towards things that makes you both unique and adorable. Ohhh ok, I see it now with the front on shot, that's a lot of weight to be lost, super congrats! You're eyes and lips look larger now, it's cute.

Oh man, you're gorgeous!!! Seriously, just drop dead gorgeous! (Even if those glasses are fake I feel that they complete the look quite well!) That has to be my favorite hairstyle of yours so far, the runner up is the one that you had kinda reddish/auburn looking color, and it was long too.

Oh yeah? I guess we'll see where I lie with this thing , I'm waiting to see if I'll end up getting my hand too close, that or getting the fabric bunched up or something.  A hand made jacket? Sounds awesome! If you find it you should take a picture!
Yeah, I know people who super crochet have to keep track on numbers and stuff, and I just end up zoning out after a while and everything comes out odd. That and how tight or lose I make the knots differs from knot to knot. Hmm, if that's the case, I'll have to see if I can have my grandma teach me to knit then. Ha! I wonder why more people are wired for crocheting. Either way, I should definitely give it a try then. Maybe I'll luck out and see if that one is what I'm wired for.  Either way, kudos for finding out you're the minority and can knit. XD

My ears aren't really pointy, just very... long? Tall? And from certain angles, I guess they can kind of appear pointy, even though they aren't. And thanks! I'm very happy about the eyes and lips. Especially my lips are super small anyway, so anything that can make them look bigger makes me happy. xD

Oh stopppp!
That's super nice of you to say. xD I do love my fake glasses, but I get a lot of hate from actual glasses-wearers about it. It's quite stupid.
But hey, I'm right there with you with my hair. The pink and the natural red are my favourites. It's so short right now. ;-; But I dyed it bright red recently. It was kind of an accident, it was supposed to be a much more natural color, but instead, I got this fire truck red. @___@ It's gotten a lot of compliments, though.

The thing I hate with machines is that I can't be as precise with them as I can with my hands. I like to sew like 3-5 mm from the edge, but with a machine, I can only get as close as about 1/2 an inch? My hand stitches are perfect, though. It's like an OCD thing with me. I actually just found that jacket, so maybe I'll get some good pictures soon!
With knitting, I think the main thing you have to get used to is tension, but  it comes on pretty quickly once you've gotten the hang of it.
I think most people are just intimidated by the fact that you use two needles instead of just a single hook, but one of the needles just serves to hold the stitches while you transfer them onto the other needle. I look at crocheting and it just fascinates me... Like, where do you keep your stitches?? O_O
I don't get it, but maybe one of these days I'll give it a try again. Maybe somehow learning to knit will help?

Ha! I've heard about the hate from people with real glasses to those with fake ones but if you can wear them, then why not? It's sexy and cute so I don't see why that's a bad thing.
Yeah, red shades are just awesome in hair for some reason. Oh I want to see your new hair! Sounds awesome (even if it was an accident), do you want me to change the drawing to red hair now? XD

I'm with you there, I like sewing pretty close to the edge as well, so I can only imagine how odd it would feel to have to sew that far away from the edge (not only that but cutting the fabric a tad bit larger to make sure I don't end up making it smaller). Oh neat, can't wait to see the jacket!
Oh tension doesn't sounds too bad (so I say while never being able to keep a consistent tension while crocheting), I looked at a video a little while ago and it really doesn't seem as hard as I thought it was going to be. Of course, I don't have needles and haven't tried it, so I suppose I have yet to test how hard or easy it is. Ha! with crochet your stitches are kept in the pattern you're weaving XD but yeah, it can get hard to keep track of which one is your recent stitch (especially when you have to go back the opposite way). I think that knowing how to knit will help out with crocheting, you know how to manipulate the yarn into all sort of knots and the super basic crochet pattern is really just a loop.

xD I'm glad you think so! I've been wearing fakies since before it was cool. Hurrrr. But seriously, I got my first pair when I was like... 10? so yeah! 16 years of telling haters to stick it. Besides, gingers get made fun of a lot for being ginger, but no one tells people not to dye their hair red because it's an insult to gingers. Yeesh.
I don't have a lot of pictures with my new hair yet. I'll send you the one I have, but 1- you'll have to ignore my chubby shoulders and 2- it's kind of a sad picture holding a baby hooked up to IVs and monitors and junk. sta.sh/0ypp4uza7c8
She's doing so much better now, though, thankfully.

Oh yeah, I brought the jacket upstairs for forgot to take pictures of it. Hurr durr. Remind me to do that. xD Haha. But yeah, cutting the fabric larger than it needs to be is really confusing to me, so I prefer to sew by hand because then I can make my patterns exactly how they should be. I love my patterns. <3

Ah man, I wish I'd known. I should've known, considering you don't knit, but I have like 4,000 pairs of knitting needles around here, I could've donated one to the cause when I sent your necklace. I have an extra set of bamboo needles that I got for someone who decided to learn and then never use their knowledge. xD
Yeesh, that sounds hard. It's not difficult to keep track of knit stitches at all, especially if you're working in plain stockinette (knit one side, purl the other). It gets mildly trickier when you start doing things like adding ribs or doing lace patterns, but it's still pretty simple.
I have yet to learn cable knitting. Q_Q It looks so pretty, but so... hard.

Ha!!! I'm glad you put the hipster icon because if you didn't I sure would have tried looking for one. Still though, doing it since 10 really does make you doing it before you it was cool. XD There you go, that's a good argument, and not just red, any color that's not your natural color you can say that.

Aw, you're hair looks cute and you both look adorable! Glad to hear that she's doing better though (She's so tiny! Sometimes I forget just how small newborns are.) Your eyes are such an intense blue, I love it.

Ha! Of course you forgot to take pictures of it, isn't that how it always goes? (getting stuff and then forgetting to do things with it). Ha, cutting it larger is a pain, because then you can't see where exactly the stitch should go. What do you use to make your patterns?

Ha! Maybe next time I order something you can send them (unless I get my hands on some before then that is). But man they learned how to do it and don't knit?? But why? There's so many things you can do with yarn, imagine all the scarves!

Yeah, just counting and keeping track of that, then again, I hardly ever crochet because of that, so I'm sure someone who does it all the time will probably think that's easier than how I make it out to be. XD  Glad that knitting (at least the basics) don't really require as much keeping track of. Oh I imagine that things beside the basic will require more keeping track of, especially the more intricate it gets (don't want the lace pattern coming out lopsided now do we? )
Oh man that is really pretty, I didn't know that's what that type of pattern was called. I guess that's why I was always intimidated by knitting, I had always assumed that's how it was supposed to all come out. Sure glad that's only a type of knitting you can learn, makes it that much easier to jump in to knitting. XD Good luck with learning it, I'm sure you'll be thrilled once you learn it.

She was actually a bit small, even for a newborn. She was born over 2 weeks early because my doctor is insane and decided she absolutely NEEDED to come out NOW because I MIGHT have preeclampsia. That's likely the entire reason for the whole fiasco with the NICU.
Heh, you can see my eyes from that tiny picture? I'm glad you like them. ^^ I've always thought they were boring. Blue is so common. I really like green eyes because I never see them. I see brown and blue everywhere I turn, but I feel like green is a really rare and pretty color.

When I make my patterns, I pretty much just make a rough pattern by eyeballing it, and then I make a prototype. If the prototype looks like butts, then I'll go back and make some changes. If the changes look good, then I have a finished pattern. I usually don't need to make more than one set of corrections, but occasionally it takes a second time before I get it right.

I know, right? Even though all I've ever really made are scarves and hats, I haven't stopped knitting just because it's fun and relaxing. I guess not everyone has that weird deal that I have where I NEED to keep my hands busy. :I
I started a shirt like a year ago, and didn't finish it yet. It's one of those things you have to keep track of, and even though I had a little notebook keeping track of my stitches and all, I'm still nervous to go back to it.
Nah, cable knitting is pretty, but it's not necessary. Simple knitting just looks like this: www.knitpicks.com/kpimages/NIN…
Super simple~

Oh really, man that does sound like quite the bit of things that were happening, still glad to hear that everything went alright. You know what's odd, I was actually born 2 weeks earlier as well (I only remember it because then both me, mom, and my brother would have been born on March). Except the reasoning for me was because I wasn't growing anymore so the doctor decided, why the heck not apparently.

Blue is common yes but I feel like light blue is the common one, I never see dark blue like yours. I agree besides that though, lots of light blues and browns, not enough greens. If genetics worked out properly, I could have had green eyes like my grandma!! @_@ Luckily I got hazel though so, good enough. XD

Oh nice, I like to hear that you can just eyeball it. XD I was afraid that you had to have certain tools to make it work or something. You're eyeballing skill sounds pretty freaking good if you only have to make 1 set of change, I know I'd have to make quite a few if I tried eyeballing it.

Oh man, a shirt sounds really intimidating! No wonder you're afraid to go back to it! XD Maybe it's because you'd have to read through the notebook again and make sure that you keep everything in mind when going back to making the shirt? Oh man, simple knitting looks so... simple (thank you! I'll be here all night!), especially with the image of cable knitting still in mind. XD

Well, she's up to 8lbs 4oz as of today. :] So I'd say she's doing well.

Hm, I never really thought about the fact that there are different blues when it comes to eyes. I also didn't really realize mine were so dark. My mom has hazel eyes. They're very interesting. I never understood the word hazel, though.

It really depends on the pattern I'm making. When it comes to clothes, I tend to screw up a lot, and sometimes I don't even make patterns as much as just throw fabric around and stitch it together until it looks nice. But when it comes to making little dolls and pouches and stuff, I do a pretty good job of just eyeballing. Sometimes I don't even have to make changes if it's something fairly simple.

Yep, knitting is a sinch, and once you get the hang of it, you can do what I do and knit while reading a book that you hold with your feet. xD

OH nice! I'm glad she's doing well!

Yeah, I didn't really think there were different blues either until I met someone with bright blue eyes, (somewhere between yours and light blue) and I realized there could be different shades too. Oh nice! Always glad to know that I'm not the only one with hazel. I know, when I think of hazel I imagine the color of hazel nuts, and no tint of green, wonder why they called it that then.

Ha! Nice, pretty much sounds like how I'd go about with making clothes (just stitch it till it works).  I've always wanted to make little doll clothes (for ball jointed dolls) but I don't have one so meh. :I

Ha!! I think my feet would end up knocking the book somehow. XD That or my dogs will do that for me.

Ohh, I have a BJD <3 I've made clothes for her before. I like them best because they're easy and small, so you don't use much fabric and it doesn't take as long.

I have monkey feet. It fascinates people. When I'm too lazy to get up, I stretch my leg over and grab what I need. I can even do this without looking. xD

BB-Works In reply to OcularFracture [2014-10-10 17:57:12 +0000 UTC]

Oh nice!!! Is the one you have the same one that's on your page? I've always wanted to own one (I will get my hands on one eventually) but it's mostly because I want to make miniature clothes for it. Also for that exact reason (Don't need that much fabric and how quick it can be done). Then if you like how it came out, you could make some larger scale clothes for yourself is how I see it. XD

Monkey feet sounds super useful! If I had the toes for it I could do monkey feet (so far I can reach over but trying to grab something takes forEVER). That's pretty awesome that you don't have to look though, that takes some skill right there. XD

Yep, so far I just have the one. I want to get another one someday, but they are sooooooo expensive. @_@
Plus, you can sell the clothes you make for other people who have those kind of dolls. I can also make eyes for them. I've thought about selling these. Maybe I should.

xD I love my monkey feet. One time, they got me out of being handcuffed to a staircase.

Oh man, yeah they are. That's why I've also wanted to make one, but that's never happening either. XD
That's true, selling clothes would be fun, plus it would be fun to make. Oh man you should definitely sell eyes! Your eye rings are pretty cool, so I imagine they would look really nice on the dolls.

Ha!! I gotta hear how they got you out of that. XD

OcularFracture In reply to BB-Works [2014-10-27 23:41:15 +0000 UTC]

Actually, I just had someone contact me the other day to see if they could get some of my eyes NOT on rings. xD I should make a listing for that.
As for the feet, when I was about nine, my mom had this lame boyfriend who kept trying to get rid of me so he could do "grown up" things with my mom. Anyway, he handcuffed me to this staircase outside the apartment and threw the key up the stair and told me good luck on getting out.
So I basically just walked my monkey feet up the stairs and grabbed it with my toes. I was inside again in like five minutes. He was flabbergasted.

Oh sweet! Then for sure make a listing! Sounds like a good market to cater to. (Seriously, sometimes the clothes I've seen for them go for the same amount actual clothes go for, it's crazy!)

Oh man, what a jerk, at least you showed him. Nice use of monkey feet too!
