Yes I could see in your favorites you lean more to traditional art, but we seemed to have violins in common

No, I don't play, I have no musical talent at all
But I do appreciate the sculpture that a violin is, the amazing craftsmanship that is required to create such a beautiful instrument.
I have done a lot of woodworking and building things with my hands, so as a craftsman I know what it would take to make one. A violin however is way beyond my ability.

I decided to model a violin because it was the hardest thing I could think of, and so recognizable that if I didn't get it right it would be very obvious.

I was very lucky to have a friend on the Sunflow forums who knew violins very well and was able to give me excellent critiques as it evolved, without his help I could have never gotten this close.

haha! well you and your friend did a great job!! Its an amazing instrument to look at and even better to play!! my violin has been passed down though my family so its very old and battered, mum want me to have it done up, but I dont think it will feel the same. I think things change for a reason and It would spoil the violin's beauty to do it up!

I agree completely... I'd be afraid the sound would never be the same.
Better to buy a new one if necessary, keeping your old friend "as-is" for very special occasions
