Teaching art to kids wow, sounds cool and also that you'd be good at it.
An experience you say, how so?
You make it sound like a lot of fun but maybe the long prep work is not so great?

Don't show off too much on those rollerblades, now that you're an old lady, any kind of small injury can become a REAL issue.

I've been to Spain twice but last time was around 17 years ago so I don't remember much.
I do remember the ocean, watermelons, the sun and the heat, the colourful language,
ice creams, reading my first book in English a few other fleeting memories.
I live about 210km from the Spanish frontier, it's really closeby.
For you however, this is gonna be quite the trip!
There's a lot of different things to see depending on where you're going,
historically, architecturally (great castles too), the coast line, mountains etc.

I'm doing good.
Out of nowhere, I decided to start a training to become a stonemason so that's what I'm doing at the moment.
My training is more geared towards old buildings, stone and renovation/restauration. Not much actual building.
I''ve hard a real hard time with the training, especially in the last couple months.
Like a simple but deep lack of enjoyment in what I'm doing.
Right now however, I'm doing a mandatory internship working for a company and I'm enjoying that a lot so I'm really happy!
I think I really needed that.
Then, I'll probably look for an interesting job in stonemasonery.
Unless I do something else entirely, haha.

I've been able to travel quite a bit during the past year and a half.
I've spent a few months in a farm in Ireland, that was fantastic!!
I got to meet Irish people of course, English, Americans, Germans, Austrians, Spanish and one Japanese.
That was a great experience even though I almost died when I fell into the dung vat from the cows, true story... 

I went to see friends in Italy, that was my first time there and that was wonderful too.
Then I went on a weekend trip to Dublin with my friend Laurie.
It was fun because this is where we became friends 7 years ago when we did our civic service together in Dublin, brought back memories!!
Finally, last month I visited Porto in Portugal with friends from my training course, we had a great time there.

I've been able to draw the most during my stay in the farm because as I had more free time.
I don't draw as much as I used to but I still do now and then.
I guess once I am more knowledgeable and skilled, I will use my training in stonemasonery to do more creative and artistic things.  
For now, I still have a lot to learn and experience to build.
Somehow, I have this feeling that this opened a road for me, a door, maybe to create something new.

So Rachael, it is Rachael right? Not Rachel? I think I remember you telling me about your name but I'm not sure.
Anyway, since it will be your first trip out of the country, who knows, maybe you'll enjoy it so much that you'll travel around the entire worls after this.  
In any case, I hope you do have a great time there.

Howdy!
Happy New Year to you too  

It has been a long time indeed. I'm doing pretty good, 2018 and still figuring out my place in the grand scheme of things.
For now I'm working in a (not sure how you call it) retirement home or nursing home, taking care of old people and more precisely, my unit takes care of people experiencing a state of heavy dependency.
It's been good so far and I appreciate what I do BUT as I have experienced in the past, I most certainly don't identify myself with the policies, way of thinking and overall views on care and healthcare that
institutions and corporations revolve around.
Even putting aside fundamental views on  health and healthcare, I, or should I say, we, lament the fact that we are not given enough means, tools, and TIME to properly take care of our residents/patients.
I believe this particular issue is something that is widely spread in many sectors and is quite frankly alarming.
Even though I do have MAJOR issues with this system and even though it's not easy to witness this suffering and aggravating state while feeling you can't do much about it most of the time, I find that I can still help alleviate some pain/anxiety and it is a job that can be gratifying and rewarding at times. 

My plan is to keep the job for a few months, maybe more, take a plane to Dublin, find a job and slowly figure out how I wanna take care of people in ways that truly align with, well, with true Care I guess, and how I can do that.
I have a good feeling that it's gonna be a great adventure so I'm excited!
I also had to take a step back in the drawing's department but it's still something I love doing when I get the time.

How about you Rachel what are you up to these days ? Any development from the turtles ? (not talking about the foam shells XD)

Ahh... My dad was a EMT, my sister worked at assisted living for a while and I've been a volunteer at Red Cross and we all consistently disagree with the policies & healthcare laws. I have know what it feels like when the law conflicts with the spirit of serving others. Probably not as much as you do, since I have not done as much work in this area. Sounds like they're really stretching you for your job. The higher up people need take a look at the system seriously and make some changes for the better.
One of my close friends works in a nursing home. The equipment is fine for care, but way too many times often they are understaffed resulting in the employees being very over worked. She's worked some pretty ridiculous hours without proper sleep because of it. The residants do get taken care of though, which is good.

Not that I know the situation, but looking for a new job sounds great for you! It's so fulfilling to help people without being dragged down about it. I hope God blesses you with a new place where they will recognize your efforts to truly take care patients, your good heart, and the experience that you already have from your previous job.

Haha, as far as turtles goes.. I think I mentioned to you that I have a Sulcata tortoise..? He's now like 6 pounds of constant "I want to eat everything!" He's very friendly and active. Since we've for like five inches of snow outside, I have to keep him in the house. So... That's a little messy, but I love the little guy. lol XD

I'm still working at the same restaurant. I'm going to pick up a secondary job this year, because I get only a few cents a year for a raise.. And I think I'm worth more for five years of service.
BUT, I really like the job and so that's why I've stayed for so long even though I'm kinda being taken advantage of. I love serving all of my customers and it's a nice place to work at, so I'd like to keep it, but keep it as a "hobby job" and get a part time for more savings. $

This year is very exciting so far. I started courting a young man last November, so I'm very interested to see where God leads us in this area of my life. I've never dated anyone before. I was looking over all the projects and things that I want to do for 2018 and thinking... Who knows what will happen this year! Makes me feel very excited and kinda scared at the same time, which I think is normal, haha. I hope he knows that the tortoise will be coming as well. My tortoise might even outlive me! XD
Last week I got into a car accident. lol It was the first one I've ever been in. We got T-boned in an intersection by another vehicle and did a nice 360 degree spin. All five of the people involved walked away without need for an ambulance. My side of the car got hit the worse, but I just hit my head and had a sore back for a while. Feeling very happy to be alive right now.


I hear you about the drawing time. Since I got into cosplay I spent a fair amount of time making those and the remainder of time I put into my family vacation comics, which I think I'm going to end up posting on here because they're pretty funny.
I also got into making necklaces out of little things that I find. Like, rocks, nuts, marbles, seashells, etc.. I might post some of those too. I made like over a hundred of them this past year. 
Drawing and making art in fun, but so if crafting things.. Or so I've discovered. =]


Also: I noticed whenever you ask a question you always put a space before the question mark. ..Why is that?

We are experiencing being understaffed, as in, not having as much staff as we're supposed to have
but even if we did, it would be a far cry from being enough in my opinion.
Unfortunately, the way I see it, the more you tend to go high in the chain of hierarchy,
the more you tend to find people who know exactly what they're doing but couldn't care less about
the well being of the residents or other human beings in general, but let's not go there today it's my day off. :]

I am certain that I will find something in better adequation with my ideals when the time is right but for now I intend
to do my best, learn from the experience and just live in the moment I guess.

I'm not sure why, but I've always had the idea that you lived with several toirtoises.
Probably because I've seen multiple tortoises in pictures or somethinglike that, so it's just the one guy ?
Remind me what's his name again ?

You know it's funny, I find that a lot of people I'm close to have been experiencing significant changes
in there lives lately and it looks like you too are being blown by the great wind of change and renewal, isn't it exciting ?!
I totally understand how you feel about being taken advantage of and your need to make more savings.
I wish you to find a pleasant place for you to do that. I also wish you to blossom in this new adventure 
of romantic relationship, I know how wonderful it can be!

You can always try to sneak in the turtoise, make it look like he just came out of nowhere wounded
(false wound that you'd have crafted with your excellent craftsman skills). Obviously, you'd have to take care of him now as it's clearly a sign from God.
Or, you can abandon him into the sewers hoping that he gets taken care of by a ninjutsu-able rat and that they both come into contact
with an unknown mutagen substance that will essentially turn him (and three other turoises) into a ninja turtoise, but that's kind of a long shot.
The other solution is to say, "btw, turtoise coming with, non negotiable" but you'd be missing out on ninja-turtoise and sign from God so chose wisely.

I'm happy to hear you're alive as well ! Looks like in was quite the accident, I understand you feel grateful to be alive.
I don't have a driving license so I don't get into cars that often but somehow, I always manage to fall while riding
my bicycle(s) that always have something wrong with them. Last week the saddle broke instantly while I was rising and I fell off backwards at
a fairly high speed. Fortunately I was on a one-way cycling path that's  completely out of the road and now one was around.
I had a similar expericence not long ago when another part of another bike broke  resutling in me falling in quite a spectacular way but coming out essentially unscathed.
I bought myself a new bike let's hope this one grants me more fortune. XD


I've seen your cosplays! I haven't taken the time to comment on your recent posts and you've posted quite a lot but I remember seeing cosplays that looked like
spirit...animals...mystic...thingy and they looked outstanding, really! Don't know where they're from but they made me think of this amazing video game I love 
called Okami.

Why oh why do I put a space between the word and the question mark ? I don't know!
It's funny because about a year ago, someone asked me the exact same thing. The one that asked me that was also from the United States so I'm
wondering if there is a pattern there but maybe not.

The longer answer is, I still don't know, but I can elaborate by saying that I used to put space between words and exclamation marks too !
Somehow, maybe after chatting online and seen how people actually use them! I think I've readjusted my writting accordingly,
haven't quite been able to do the same thing with"?". I guess it unconsciously feels wrong to me.
But see, I was just reading a mail that a French friend wrote me this morning and she did put a space
between the word and the interrogation mark too, so what, is it a French thing ? Because I'm fairly certan that my adjustments come from chatting online and mainly with 
native english speakers.

Tell you what, it's the beginning of the year right? (see I'm making efforts) So why not launch a joint investigation to shed some light on this issue?
Let's say we have to the end of the year to come up with an explanation (or a culprit). I have  some leads to get me started and a few threads to pull.
But be careful and heed my warning partner, we do not yet know what kind of horrifying truths we might uncover, so tread lightly and TRUST NO ONE.

I've got a bunch of box turtles, but they're a lot more manageable than my tortoise.
They don't get big, they don't eat a lot, and they don't need to be indoors during winter, haha.
Kalsipher is my tortoise's name.
Lol Those were all fantastic tortoise options to choose from.

Oh no! Bike accidents can hurt bad!
I have a driver's licence, but I don't enjoy driving, so I take my bike to work in the summer. I am thankful to be in a car during the winter times , though.

Oh, the spirit looking cosplays are from an internet game call League of Legends. There's a lot of different characters to pick from. I've never actually played the game, but I wanted to group cosplay and my friends wanted to go as that. My cosplay is of a lamb and Rachael means little lamb, so it was fitting. And my friend, Coyote, cosplayed as wolf, so that was fitting as well, haha.
Have you ever been to a Anime convention before?

Hmmm.. That's interesting about the question mark spacing. I suppose I need to have more French friends.. Dang it, Eric! You're the only French person I know! XD

In fact the only one I've ever heard of happens in Paris and it's called Japan Expo.

Haha, going alright. 
I did pick up a part time job working as a secretary for one of my brothers. It's a nice sit down job, but I wouldn't want it full time. I need something to move around.
Tomorrow I'm checking with my boss at my restaurant about possibly getting a raise by working in the back instead of serving. We'll see how it goes though. XP

Naisu, yeah I get it I need to move around too or I get tired and eventually depressed.
So how did that raise proposal go? Hope you got something decent. What's working in the back mean?
It's a restaurant right, so kitchen? Bar? I can't think of anything else. Or is it a hierarchy thing like you'd become head-waitress, chill in the back,
talk to clients about wine and stuff? Explain yourself I want an explanation.

My job, well it's running its course I guess, it's not easy but I'm not "suffering" from it either. Not sure how to put that into english words but basically nothing has changed, I'm still happy to
live the experience and I still know I'll have had enough and move on in a matter of months. I try to do my best for the time being and I'm having quite a lot of fun with my colleagues too.
I feel sympathetic for the people I'm gonna leave behind in a while, patients as well as colleague but this is how it has to be.
Is it easter? (I'm clueless), happy easter!!

Okay okay. Let me explain..
I'd be trained on cooking and salad prep. Also I'd be making pies and desserts.
My boss basically told me that I could work in the back and get a raise if I committed to working for her for the rest of the year. But I can't flip flop between serving and cooking. It's either one or the other, so now I've got to decide... I really like serving and have a heart for that.. But I don't make a whole lot of money.. Learning to cook is a good skill to learn and would be helpful to have a raise, but what if I don't like it? Hmm... Hmm!! What to do! >.<;

Your job sounds pretty complex. Well, I hope when you move on that it goes well and you get to a better and better place!

I can see how you'd be hesitating to comit to something you're not sure you're gonna like.
Well if it's not possible to try it out first, I would suggest going with your heart, it always works.

So, Easter. We usually have a family dinner on Sunday. There's also a culinary tradition called "Agneau Pascal" or "Gigot Pascal".
Not a clue about the story behind it but I guess it's pretty much the same for every christian, bottom line is people eat lamb, leg of lamb
to be more specific. We've never been too big on "Gigot Pascal".
It's become more of a tradition when my mom started living with her new companion after my paretns divorced. He's more of a traditional kind of guy.
Then there's the chocolate of course. I think typically, what people do is buy chocolate eggs that usually come with a chocolate hen or doe.
From a vague memory, people or I should say adults, hide the eggs in the garden (if you have a garden that is) for the children to find them.
More generally, people eat a lot of chocolate around Easter. Then again, the "egg hunt" has never been a huge thing for me growing up. 
I remember doing it a few times as a kid but not that often. It's come back now that my big brother has kids but it's also something we had
dropped in between the time we grew up and the time my niece and nephew were born.

Obviously there's also stuff around the Church, the Mass but I'm not knowledgeable in that area. What I can say is that I don't think a lot of people
engage into religious stuff for the occasion. Actually, the elderly are by far more involved into religious things than my generation or even that of
my parents. People will celebrate Easter, have family reunions, eat the leg of lamb and do all these things that definitely come from religion but 
a lot of us don't actually connect it to christianity, they won't say a prayer for the occasion or anything. That doesn't apply to everyone of course.
Some people are still very religious and acting upon it but it's a minority.  The same thing can be said about other major christian events like Christmas for instance.
In France, pretty much every one celebrates Christmas and yet, the vast majority do not ultimately do it as a christian or religious event but more as a family/tradition/social event.

Alas, I was working all weekend so I did not take part in the festivities. I wanted to organise a small egg hunt at my workplace but a
series of unfortunate events prevented me to do so. We also have the tradition of April's fool which I'm fairly certain you're familiar with.
I managed to pull off a pretty good one with the help of a resident whom I teamed up with for the occasion. One of my co-worker had been telling
this story about some girl that used to work here and that has ripped off a lot of residents (mostly jewelery) during her stay. She's done it in other
nursing homes, got caught I believe she should get sentenced soon. Anyhow, I'd been hearing that story several times and she'd just told
it to my accomplice's family the day before. I told Nicole (my accomplice) about wanting to trick my coworkers and that I needed her help to which she agreed.
I told her that I would come back in a while and that we should both try to think of something for the prank.
The thief story came back to me and I immediately knew I had my prank. 

I told her that she was going to have to say to my colleagues that she'd been stolen a item of value and that she suspected me of the theft.
She was like: "okay". But she told me that Chadia (my coworker) wouldn't believe it. She had a point so I decided to take it up a notch and
asked her to give me a piece of jewelery that I put in my pocket. The idea was for her to tell Chadia she'd been missing the item and tell her she
thought she saw me put it in my pocket. 
OMG it worked so well, poor Chadia was so uncomfortable and taken aback she wasn't able to confront me so we didn't play her too long.
Then, another colleague, Marie, came by and Chadia wanted to pursue the prank with her. Now, with Chadia driving the act, it worked 
even better haha. Marie was driven to a point where she had to come up with a way to check my pockets so she told me to come and asked me where my cellphone was 
(we're not allowed to carry cellphones in our pockets but most people do it anyway). It's a bit hard to narrate but it was this very funny scene of her
trying to justify checking my pockets for a cellphone I didn't have on me and Chadia pushing her to check the right pocket again because she knew
where the piece of jewelery was.

Marie then found the item and was like:
"ha-ah! So what is this then? huh? HUH?", haha I was like "euh... It's mine, it's mine! My grandmother gave it to me" in a absolutely not convincing act
(I was completely laid back and smiling the whole time) that worked somehow. Nicole was right next to us so she put it in front of her and asked her if 
she recognized it to which she replied "Oh yes, I think I recognise it, yeah, definitely, that's my April's fool chain..."

Hahaha, Marie's face was priceless! It's definitely the most fun I had for Easter this year, how about you, how's Easter?

Hahaha, that's a great prank!
My coworker, James who is one of the dishwashers at work has his own apron & gloves for the job. Well, his apron has slowly been wearing down. It was in pretty bad shape. It had ducktape all over it and he couldn't tie it very tight because the threads were coming undone and my sister and I tried to staple them on a bit to try and keep it together. A week or two ago he came in and he said "Look Rachael! I fixed it!" He held it up and it was all plastic wrapped. So, as you can see, my coworker liked his apron very much/he was too cheap to buy another one. (My boss provides aprons, but not the kind he likes.)
So, my sister bought him a new one as a surprise.

She walked up to him with some scissors while he was working and said "You've got a little thread on your collar. Want me to get it?" "Sure." Then she proceeded to snip off his apron and if fell off his neck. He was so shocked. It was great. He was all "BUT WHY DID YOU DO THAT? WHY??" Then my sister handed him the new one. He was happy about the new one. XD

Sorry I haven't replied in like a month or so. Weather got nice and I ignore my computer when that happens. I've also been very busy. I went on a couple trips with my boyfriend. We went to a real big city. I live in a tiny town. We have one stop light, so it was very overwhelming for me to be in a city so big. I've decided I never want to live in a city. lol
It's no longer winter, so I've been working on gardens and out with my turtles. One of my friends I've known since childhood is getting married this Friday. I go on my family vacation in a couple weeks and I'll be gone fore a while. Also keeping up with work. I ended up keeping as a server by the way. If opportunity comes where I could be a cook for a little while and try it out, I think I will, but I didn't want to commit to a job I'm not sure I would like. I get the hours I like, so I'm pretty happy. =] Still unfortunate about the raise though.. =/

Working Mother's Day was fun. That's always a rush in restaurants. I got a bit too prideful that day.. See, I like carrying as many plates as I can before I get a tray. I was stacking the plates on my arms and having a bit of difficulty and both the cook and dishwasher was told me to use a tray and my response was "Noo! I've got this! I don't want a tray!"
And one was holding the tray. "It's right here.. -__-"
"I've got this! No problem! >"
I accidentally tilted a plate of spaghetti and the hot juices spilled over my palm. It was so hot! I almost dropped the plates, but they were both watching and I was too prideful for that! >.<*
I set the plates down and took the tray.. "I could have carried them! If your plates weren't so hot!" XD

Your description of Easter sounds pretty much like how it is here. My parents did do the egg hunt when we were kids. They had plastic eggs that you could put candy inside and also we dyed eggs for them to hide as well. The dyed eggs we got some money for if we found them. There was usually 2 special $5 eggs that were really hard to get. I mean, sometimes we'd never find them. Dad dropped one down inside a brick wall once. You had to take the bricks out to get it. Does that seem fair?
So, we did some religious things and some traditional holiday stuff, but my parents never gave any credit to the holiday mascots. Dad was clearly Santa, Mom payed us for teeth, and both parents hid the eggs, not some bunny. Didn't do any holloween stuff.

Welp, hope you're doing well way over there in France Land!
Anytime anyone says anything about the French I ask them about the space before your question marks. So far... With all the data I have acquired.. over months of asking random people.. I have come to the understanding... that you... are just weird.

Howdy! 

Haha that poor guy must have been traumatized about his apron for a couple of seconds!
So, I guess this is my "sorry I haven't replied in about 1 year" come back (that's what it feels like anyway).

I swear, this job is draining too much of my willpower. I'm not complaining though, I have decided to stop around the beginning of October
and I'm thinking about going to Ireland by then end of the year, November/December/January. 

Oh what's that big city you've been to so I can look it up on a map, lol your town really sounds like a tiny one. The place where I live
is considered like, a small town near a bigger town. It's like a fairly good compromise between "the city" and the countryside. Meaning
you can still et acces to basic commodities, stores, facilities (no movies theater and most importantly NO SWIMMING POOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Sorry, I got carried away about the swimming pool. We also have cool things like a fraily new  multimedia library, we also have a theater, haven't been in a while though, a skatepark, 
and probably around 1 billion baker's shops, banks, and hairstyle salons.

Fortunately we have a decent amount of green foliage too, a small forest, and a bigger place that's not technically a forest but where you can wander and go on a stroll for miles
and miles. It's a very nice and peaceful place that's "crossed over" (don't know how to say it" by a small but long waterway called "l'Eau Bourde". I haven't been there in months but
I remember taking my bycicle and riding for hours, discovering new places. I say hours but you quickly get out of my town to wander into the nearby towns if you got too far.

Too bad you couldn't get a raise! I suspect that my direction are gonna try to negociate with me, probably try to see if I'm trying to get a raise when I tell them I'll be leaving,
It'll be pretty satisfying to turn them down XD

Haha hot plates and all kind of hazard sauce coming from them, brings back memories from working at a restaurant. But you dind't waver and managed to stand your ground
, I hope you realize  that the hot plates are a metaphor for the deep and hidden meaning of life!

So that is the conclusion of your investigation huh? That is probably a fair assessment of the situation for I am quite the oddball...or maybe...maybe we've uncovered and conspiracy 
so deep that it goes all the way to the top?!

On a more serious note, I haven't been researching much but it seems to me that here, when we use handwritting, we have a tendency to leave more or less space between words
and punctuation marks. Maybe that space is sometimes transferred as an actual standard "typing space" when not using handwritting and concerning only specific punctuation marks

I went to Chicago.
My town has quite a few hair salons... Why so many?
We have a public pool and a small grocery store. Lots of restaurants. There's a small city about a half hour away and there's skating bowling and small water park there, so it's not bad.
My house is by the woods. Small woods, but you could walk for a few miles through it. 

Uncovered a conspiracy so deep that it goes all the way to the top?! You mean... Maybe everyone else might be the oldballs??

Ahh.. Work had been going well for me at the moment. I've been getting good tips, so that's nice. I also started making the desserts at the restaurant. I have the best pie teacher and now I make awesome pies! The currant favorite at my household is fresh blueberry pie.

Project wise, I've been working on cosplays. My boyfriend wanted to do a couple cosplay and thought of doing a Lord of the Rings cosplay. Have you seen that trilogy? I love Lotr, so I was delighted and could think of all sorts of characters to pick for a cosplay, but I thought, it'd be good for him to take the lead and suggest one, so I asked my boyfriend which characters and you know what he said? The tower and the ring. 
I was like "those aren't even characters!" 0.0 "How--how do I even base a character off of a ring? And his would be a giant tower with a flaming eyeball on it."
So, I'm making a very artistic expression of the tower and the ring as a couple cosplay. XD Only, my boyfriend would have picked something so unexpected and challenging. >.<
I'll probably post some pictures later of it when they're done. Working on some shoulder armor for it at the moment.

Oh, I also got to meet a new friend and her mom was an artist and let me play with all her cool art supplies. She did alcohol paint with a air gun art. The paint moved unexpectedly kind of like watercolor, but not. You could do so much with just a drop of paint and continually adding the alcohol would spread the paint and had a super cool effect. That was fun.

I looked up alcohol painting with airgun and it looked fun, it's cool you get to experiment with so many different things.

I'm doing fine, nothing really new at the moment, I can't wait to be done with my job, one more month to go and it's vacation time, going to martinique for 2 weeks gonna be
freediving most of the time and spearfishing, I can't wait. I'm gonna turn a new page in the grand scheme of things and I'm super excited but also really REALLY impatient to
be done with this job XD.

Time for another monthly check up! =>

Chicago was alright. Too big. Too many people to process. There's so many people in the world. I don't know how God keeps track of so many people. 
We went to an art museum, ate some fancy food, walked around a lot. It was nice to see everything and some of the food was really good!

How was your vacation? I assume you're back from it. Isn't it just another beach? Don't you live on a beach already? I mean, beaches are cool. How was spear fishing? That sounds manly! XD
You eat them, right?

Speaking of conspiracies... I've been looking into a real one.
 I'm trying to figure out if vaccines are good for you or not. Everybody around here says that you need them and it's usually fear based logic. But there's a whole lot of info on vaccines curing diseases and a whole lot of well funded people say that we all should be taking them, especially kids. And likewise, there's also a whole lot of people/parents who are completely opposed and a lot of anti-vaccine info out there and say that they didn't cure anything. They say cleaner living cured the majority of diseases from the 1900s. It's a hot mess. >.< Difficult to study.
What's the general feel for vaccinations where you live? (If you don't mind me asking.)


Phhhht! It's Lord of the Rings*! And yes. It is very nerd-geeky. It's perfect.
Wait, which is childish? Lord of the Rings or cosplaying? Because, yes-- I totally agree about cosplay being childish. I blame not celebrating halloween and playing in costumes enough from when I was a kid. Playing dress up is fun, but yeah. Definitely childish. lol There can be a lot of skill in it, though. And I really like creating things artistically. 
Now, Lord of the Rings is clearly not childish. It is the best story ever!!! Written by a genius! Most beautiful creativity! Good books! Good movies! Hobbit was terrible.. But the Lord of the Rings was awesome! I watch it almost every year with my folks for Christmas. I have lots of fond nostalgia associated with it.

In other news.. It's my birthday this weekend! We're going skating, playing some games, eating good food. So, I'm designing a new cake. It's a combination of three cakes. Carrot cake, Pineapple Upside Down cake, and Spice cake. I don't know why these cakes aren't the same cake. It jest feels right that they'd be the same cake, but nobody combines them. So~ I'm making one for my birthday with cream cheese icing. XD  Hope it's good. There might be a reason why they're not combined. I will find out!

Besides that... My baking skills are going up since making pies at my restaurant. They say my pies are perfect, so that makes me feel pretty good. Trying to cook more meals at my home, though. Because I'm great for making desserts, buuut not so much at making dinner. I feel like that's a way more practical skill. I can cook the types of dinner that you gotta bake, like meat pies, pizza, meatloaf, etc.. But I need more practice cooking meats and timing veggies and stuff. So, I'm working on that. =L

  So, how 'bout you? Anything new going on in the life of Eric Man? Have any time for art these days or are you too busy being an adult?

So... it's all about the food basically huh? XD. My little brother is in Chicago at the moment, I'll ask him if he ate some fancy food too.

As for me I'm in the middle of my vacation, live from the Caribbean, Martinique!
And lol no, I don't live on a beach and it's not just another beach. I have worked a lot of summers in restaurants located by the sea but that's it.
Though technically Martinique is France, it's 4066,253 miles away from where I live.
Might not be that much for someone leaving in the USA but trust me, when you're living in a small European country, it feels like going to the other side of the world.  

Everything is different here, the weather is really warm and humid, most of the people living here are slave descendants, meaning black.
They speak french but also creole and it just looks nothing like where I live.

It's really small, poor infrastructures, different fauna and flora, so many fishes at the beach, water looks amazing and sooo warm, the general atmosphere here is very different. Same goes for the rhythm or mentality, it's something else.
There's this saying: "au rythme des îles". Someone being "au rythme des îles" means he really is taking his sweet time doing it.
A literall barbaric translation would be " at the islands's rhythm or pace". I really love this place as far as vacations go.

Spear fishing and free diving has been great so far except that I've been suffering from an ear infection and a cold for the past 3 days. 
I should be staying out of the water but I just can't resist and as a result I can't really free-dive and my ear is not healing.
I only have myself to blame though.

Apart from that everything's going great, I'll be staying here until next Wednesday so I'm trying to make every second count!
We do eat the fishes we kill yes. We're careful to only go after fishes we know we can eat and that are big enough.
We had some good ones. Food is also a crucial part of my journey here XD.

Vaccines yeah, from what I can tell, the majority is pro vaccines but there's still a significant number of people who don't share the enthusiasm.
I personally am anti vaccine. I'm not particularly scared of them though. I just avoid taking them myself as much as I can.
I allowed my workplace to give me one against the flu this year. Had I refused, I would have had to constantly wear a mask for about 5 months.
On the other hand, when I have kids, I'll think really hard on how I can avoid that without making their lives difficult. 

I know it's a tough subject to study.
Most of them are because the truth is often clouded with a lot of misleading and parasitic information.
I haven't studied this one much but I've enough on other stuff that I can make my mind up with little knowledge.
It's probably because I've been constantly seeking untold answers on many questions in the last decade that I'm now able to better grasp topics that I don't know much about.  The more you're able to see the whole tapestry the more it's easy to fill in the blanks.

That being said, I'm not trying to tell you you should be anti vaccine or anything.
I think it's really great that you're trying to figure out these things by yourself and I wish you good fortune in your quest for the truth!

I know it's Rings....or...actually, are you sure it's not is Wings? I think it's Wings.
I read the books like a very long time ago, I remember loving them.
The films I loved too but my favourite is definitely the first, then the second and finally the third.
Meaning it kinda went a bit downhill for me which is strange because it didn't with the books.

I don't remember which one I said was childish but then again I was also joking.
Maybe cosplaying is childish, but childish can be good. I know that I have a childish-like quality in me.
I think I'll always have it and that makes me happy, it's something to cherish .
On that note I just got invited to a party in December and my friend wants us to come disguised, it should be fun. 

By the way, I have to say this again, the cosplays look super cool.
It's great that they are interpretative because it lets your creativity shine even more.

Okay, this might sound weird but I want to say it anyway:
I think you'll do something with arts and crafts someday. Professionally I mean.
Something that involves a lot of creativity and it's gonna work!

There is something very BRIGHT in your art. Like a light that radiates. It carries a lot of JOY.
There is passion and rightful pride. It vibrates, affects people as it brushes around.
If I had to choose a single word, it would be BRIGHT.
It is beautiful, a light that's meant to be shared and it has, still, one day, it will shine on a much larger scale.

Oh and in case your parents haven't told you enough, it's the first time I see your face clearly and you are very pretty you really are.
Don't get me wrong you also look dope as a Steampunk Ninja Turtle, just more...green XD

The cake idea sounds excellent, one could say that I'm a bit eccentric with my cooking but, I don't know,

I know, I know...I made a super long post! I've been feeling super good lately and I think it makes me want to share more.

So yeah, I'm doing good, I'm going to Italy for  a few days in late December and on the beginning of next year (probably January or February)
I''ll be leaving for the Republic of Ireland and doing something else over there.

Working, don't know what yet, discovering, travelling, living and having a good time.
I have an excellent feeling about this trip and I think it's gonna be the start of something great for me so I'm super excited .

I did enjoy rollerblades when I was a kid and ice skating was fun too but I never tried skates, and I don't hink I've ever heard about coffin style skating before.
If I did, I would probably have asked you about why it is called coffin style, don't tell me.... it's so dangerous... everyone who tries it... they all end up in... a coffin ?
No that sounds too ominous, maybe it's because it's such an inconfortable position you can't help but start coughing.... haha yes, I'm still hilarious.
So yeah, I could be wrong but I don't think that was me.
On the other hand I feel like we did talk about skating in the past... that really does ring a bell, maybe I just forgot.

Yeah, he can do this little spin thing and hop off the ground. I can't do jumping moves very well. I like staying in contact with the floor at all times whilst skating or else the floor will hurt me.

Roller blades are a lot like ice skates. I'm alright with ice skating, but nothing fancy.
Most kids these days like the roller blades. They like the speed. roller skates are better for tricks though.
...Actually roller skates are better at everything. They are the best. THE BEST! Roller skates FTW!!!!

I haven't done any skating, ice or street in ages, but indeed I remember that rollers and ice skating was very similar.
I found out later that there are also  similarities with mini skis ( not sure how it's called, they are literrally shorter version of skis) when you're
on flat ground, especially if you choose not to use ski sticks (who needs those anyways?).
Then as you gain speed and begin to slide, the similarities fade away and it becomes something else.

I never did any jumping either as far as I remember.
I'm okay with jumping as long as there is something to absorb the impact of the many falls I'm going to make.
It can be snow, that's skiing; or water, that's water skating, pretty much the same thing as ice except with water,
I'm told someone actually pulled it off something like 2000 years ago, no one has been succesful since, I wonder who that guy was.

Back on topic, yeah ice or ground is way too solid for me too, I'm okay with sliding/goofing around/mild falls on ice but that's it. 
I did suffer some memorable falls on tarmac with bicycles but I don't think I ever did with roller skates.
Did you ?

Aw! My brother got a pair of those crazy mini skis! I have no idea why he got them! They're ridiculous! He says you need a lot of leg muscle for them. I watched him move around in them a little bit and they sorta look like skating, but I dunno. They're kinda on their own level.
I've never snow skied before. I tried to water ski one time, but I couldn't even stand up. I go snowboarding though.

Wait, what guy pulled what off 2000 years ago?

Ehhhh... Memorable huh.. I can't think of any serious injuries I've had. Just the normal scrapes and bruises. I can think of a lot of serious injuries my brothers have had doin' crazy stuff, but I'm more careful with the life threatening risky stuff.
I haven't broken any bones and I've only had stitches once.

Mini ski is really fun when you controll them well, top speed is a bit lower than with regular skis but you gain in manoeuvrability and it's easier to pull of jumps and tricks.
I've never tried snowboarding because after spending days mastering skis I've always been too afraid and impatient to start from scratch but it looks really cool.
I've tried something like water ski but with a board, couldn't stand up either...

I was talking about Jesus walking on water, he's supposed to have done that right ? Or did I watch too many movies ?
Well somehow I only broke my forearm once years ago.
It's almost miraculous considering how many times I had injuries/accidents growing up.
But now that I've grown up, I hardly ever get injured...I'm getting old... man I miss injuries...

Years ago I went on a safari in Africa with my father Mustapha and my Uncle Oscar.
Turns out my uncle always hated my father and wanted to take his place as CEO of their company so he paid off a bunch of really shady women to scare off a group of wildebeest.
The wildbeest ran right at me, my father jumped in and saved me but he was trampled to death, I broke my arm in the process.
Then my uncle framed me for the murder of the CEO (my father) so I had to run and live as a cast away for years, that's where I met my friends Simon and Punka, I learnt a new way of life and a really cool song.
I had a visit from my old friend Tala recently and I think it's time for me to stop running away from my past and face my uncle.


Okay, okay, the truth is much less dramatic that the plot of the Lion King.
I actually lost balance while sitting on the ledge of a first floor flat. Why did I lose balance you ask ? Well, I was a teenager and teenagers do stupid things.  
I immediately grabbed the massive wooden guardrail I was sitting on thinking it was going to saveme but quess what, it wasn't fixed so I fell down backwards with the guardrail and somehow cushioned the impact with my arms.
Only one arm broken but the other was pretty hurt too so I had a plaster cast on each arm for a few days : that makes almost every daily things painfully difficult to do, especially if you're like me and you hate having people tending to your every needs.
This had to happen on the second day of a two-weeks trip to a seaside resort during summer holidays.
Meaning I barely had the chance to swim in the ocean (which is one of my favorite things to do, EVER) and I didn't even get to miss school.

My advice to you, if you ever want to break something, don't do it during holidays

Oooo, ouch. And during a fun vacation like that! That stinks!
Did the doctor saw your cast off? That's kinda fun and intimidating.
We were taking a class and one of the things we had to do was cast our partners with plaster casts.
The teacher was going to show us how to take one off with just a hand held saw, so I volunteered. I got to take the cast home with me and I went into work with it on to prank my boss. It was pretty fun. After that we just all passed it around from person to person pulling pranks on each other.

I actually twisted my ankle last week. Half my foot turned blue! I've never hurt it so bad like that. From just walking down the driveway too. I'm still limping a little bit over it. I have, in general pretty good balance, so I was pretty embarrassed about it. It got me out of work though! XD

Nothing much really, getting ready for a summer job in a few weeks. Don't know if we talked about that but I was in a nurse school. It didn't work out in the end, meaning I didn't like what I was doing so I stopped. After summer I'll be going abroad, not sure where right now because I still have to plan the project but the idea is to go abroad, maybe in an english speaking zone as it would let me improve my talking skills, and work there in a a field like humanitarian or social care. Preferably about 10-12 months. Well, still have a lot to figure out until then. Why don't you tell me where you think I should go ? Come on just do it don't make me insist, just take a wild instinctive guess and don't mess it up, if I go where you tell me and end up getting shot or eaten by an alligator what will happen to all the things I've schemed about ?

I knew you were in nursing school. At least you got to try it out, so now you know. I hope you didn't rely too much on it since you didn't like it. 
Are you bad at speaking English? You're fantastic at your grammar and spelling.

Well that's a lot to ask of me! I have no idea what your life is like! But if you're serious.. I'd say do life big! I hear that Florida is the only place in the world where alligators AND crocodiles live together. You should go there and be eaten by both! Maybe even get shot in the process! I mean, life is short!
Haha, actually.. If I were to give you some life advice on career choices I would say to do life big. Big and meaningful and full of goals. Which is what anyone would want for you. BUT I say the real trick is finding out what big and meaningful really is.
Have a huge accomplishing carer is not mean big and meaningful. So put in a lot of time in thinking what is life really about and what do you want to be doing with yours?
Find out what your original glory is and strive for it.
Since you were interested in nursing and you seem to like people, shows compassion and that you want to help others. So, it be nice to find a job that can help fulfill that.
Well, anyways. It's something only you and your God can decide.



Well! Here in Tortoise Land! The sun is shining! It's very hot! and my tortoise is often very angry that I don't have time to walk him is such nice weather!

Well thank you, the thing is, speaking and writting are two very different things. In fact, I even think I'm good when it comes to writting.
Being immersed in an English speaking country is the only way that I can truly feel like my speaking is substantially improving, also, I love English.

Ha, funny you should say Florida, I just realized that for what I'm about to do, I'll be limited to European Union, but I liked your idea, gators AND crocodiles living together sounds nice.
I do like people, and I know I'm meant to do someting where I can truly help people in need, I say I'm meant, it's more that it's what I like to do, what I strive for like you said.
So yeah, I'll definitely be doing something along those lines in the future, just need some experiences to make those line clearer. Anyway, thanks for the pep talk (sometimes I use words or 
expression that I don't fully understand and hope for the best).

Glad to here all's well, I hav to say, I now have a mental image of an angry, slightly cartoonish Turtoise and it is quite funny. Just try not to keep all the sunshine for yourself, we could use

Oh, why do you think it's a terrible language to learn ? I think it's a difficult language to speak for french people because of the difference in sounds and the fact that you have those stresses on word when we barely have any. But I never thought of english as difficult to learn. I was also lucky because my mother had me and my 2 brothers start learning Enghlish before we got into middle school. Now kids start to learn it much younger so younger and there's also more exposure to the language so younger generations are getting better and better. Just having the chance to hear the language very young, even on a tv program, has a huge impact on kids and their ability to learn/speak a language. I also think French is a very difficult language to learn for an English speaker, especially if you want to become fluent in it. The conjugation is so ridiculously complex that unless your a french teacher, there's no way you're able to correctly use all the tenses, some of them are really tough and we never use them anyway !

I guess your endeavour to rotate the earth didn't work that well, or maybe it will but it takes a while. I've started a summer job, don't remember if we talked about that before. I'm at the reastaurant near the beach, I worked there last summer too. Beginning of July is slow and relaxing so I'm taking advantage of it. Hope you're alright, Godspeed.

It's a Hebrew name. It means Little Lamb. "ael" in the Bible means Of God.
My parents made it that, so that it's Lamb of God. So, yeah. It is old fashioned. ^^'
Rachel is a very common name here. But I've only met one with her name spelled like mine.

I have always heard that English is the most difficult language to learn if you're not born with it.
I get frustrated because of the English rules and grammar. It seems we have a whole lot of rules for spelling and such, but a whole whole lot more exceptions to the rules.
That it becomes you memorizing how to spell each word or pronounce each word rather than using the rules for it.
As far as is it difficult to speak? I have no idea. It's just the way I talk. lol
I've never tried to learn French, Italian or Spanish, so it's really foreign to me.

At home. With a family. Teaching my kids the importance of life and God and equipping them to help others, so that they can do great things in life.
My great thing in life is just to help and encourage others to do their great thing in life. I want to show my God to everyone I meet in how I live my life. And not like a huge leading pastor thing, but just in everyday people. At work. At home. In the little things. Because to me the littlest of things means the most. With everyone feeling tore down I want to show how to build people up.
Career wise, family is my goal for a career. For right now, I'm progressing in art and just being a small town gal. It's fitting for me. And yeah! Totally gonna skate ti'll I'm old and can't do it anymore. XP
That's my idea of big plans anyway. =]

Awww! Restaurant by the beach! How exotic! I still have my restaurant job right now. But I'm only doing like 20 hours a week. It's where I get all my art costumers at.
For some reason all I can think of for a restaurant by the beach is seafood and a bar. What kinds of foods do you sell? Do you work in the back or with the costumers?

I'm doing alright. I just got back from a two week vacation with my folks. Was staying in a cabin out in the woods. No electricity. No phone service. It was great.
This is the first I've gotten on my computer. ^^" Time to get back to work!

I see, from my perspective, English wasn't too difficult to learn. On the other hand, I only know French, my mother tongue and English, so I cannot compare it to another language. Well, I did learn Spanish too but... never practiced, talked , wrote or watched anything in Spanish outside of school so I lost most of it. I also did two years of Latin but let's not talk about that, it was a long time ago and whatver little I learnt, I forgot it all unfortunately. It's not like I've mastered English either, there are still many areas in which I'm either lacking or totally lost but that's okay I don't aim to be a writter haha.

That's a great goal to have, if everyone was of the same mindset, I mean helping their fellow human beings, just imagine how different things would be. Anyway I'm glad you have such a simple yet noble and pure goal.

Sea food is kind of the specialty, so there are a lot of fishes (white fish, salmon, tuna, sea bream, sole, swordfish and many others) cooked in various ways, crustaceans, a small amount of meat choices, a lot of vegetables , pastry and all kind of desserts. Food quality is really good, fresh products, the chef and two other professional cooks are good at what they're doing and I think the food there is really good. As for me, I'm kind of in the middle, the restaurant also does bar, so I don't do service like the waiters. I don't bring the meals or install the clients or whatever. I stay behind the bar and take care of all the drinks, coffee, cocktails, fancy stuff and all kinds of things really. It's nice beacause I can take a bike and make a 5 minutes ride to the ocean when I feel like it, I love the ocean !

Everybody in my town has taken Spanish in school, but none of them really know it fluently, but it's common for everybody to say things like, "Hi Girl, thank you, you're welcome, I'm leaving" and other few words and phrases to impress people. If you know two languages you're considered a smart person. It's kinda silly. I never really liked Spanish. I like Japanese and I learned some of that as a hobby.
I also like German. It's such an intense language to me. One time at work when we hired a new girl to be a server I put on a fake German accent and pretended I was from Germany. I got away with it for like two or three weeks with her thinking I was from Germany. It was pretty funny. I got some weird looks from my regular costumers.

The bar, huh? That's cool. So you still get to interact with the costumers some? That's nice. 
Augh! I hate working Fridays because then I have to sell fish. I don't like seafood, but that's our specials on Friday. 
Lot's of people really like seafood though. I bet you get a good amount of business. 
I serve a lot of home cooked meals. My boss believes in being healthy for the community, so we try to use good quality foods with lots of effort. Everybody likes it because it's how their moms/grandmothers used to cook and it's not fast food.
Now desserts of the beach sounds nice! I bet you've got all sorts of sweets and ice cream there!
That's really cool that you can just take a ride out to the ocean. I haven't seen the ocean since I was a kid. It's a neat view as I remember it. Especially the sun's color on the mass waters.
You're only working there for the summer, right? Summer is almost over!

Hmm yeah I remember you saying you were learning Japanese as a hobby, also about German, I think you've said you got like, German people in your family too. I love Japanese too ! In fact I love a few asian languages, Japanese, Chinese (both Mandarin anc Cantonese), Korean and Thai. My favourite are Japanese and Korean. Actually I'd love to go there one day !

It's good your workplace is of this mindset, nice and healthy. Only one month left but this is going to be pretty intense, especially from now I don't think we'll be getting days off until August is over. I'm a bit amazed you've only been to the ocean once. Only because I can't count the time I've been. Also I've always lived near the ocean. Like the closest ocean beach was about a 45 minutes ride from my place, and I've been working summer jobs just right by the sea about 7 times in the past 8 years so yeah haha that's a lot of ocean. I guess there's also the fact that I really love it, I love being in the water, under water too, it relaxes me and I feel really good.

Just thinking about restaurants made me aware of how much I'm starving, can't wait for dinner haha

Oh, Chinese is hard! Can't do that one. I can sing two songs in Chinese because of Jackie Chan movies, but that's it.
I had a friend that loved Japanese until she got into Korean. Then she learned everything about it. She can write it pretty well too. I was impressed.
I've never gotten into Korean, but I hear it's pretty similar.


That's really cool. I'm more of a woodsy person. I love seeing mass amounts of green stretching towards the big blue sky!
The ocean reminds me of my mom. She really likes the ocean and visited there a lot in the past. She saved all of theses sea shells and shark teeth that she found.
Our bathroom is all lighthouse themed. My whole childhood I thought that my mom loved lighthouses, so that's all we got for her for gifts. Anything lighthouse related.
Just two years ago she told me that she doesn't actually like lighthouses but kept up the image because dad thinks she likes them. I thought it was so funny. For years and years everyone has believed she likes them.
Is there a lighthouse in view of your workplace? Maybe your work place IS the Lighthouse Diner?

Hard to work in a place where the food is so good?

I'm impressed you were able to learn some Japanese. I wish I could find the time and will to do the same.

Beach can be pretty redundant after a while to be honest, but I just feel this special connection to water, feel great when I'm in it, especially in the ocean when it's wild and you can feel its power, have fun with waves. I wouldn't live at the beach though, nor on a tropical island.  I love green too, aha actually I think you have to be out of your mind not too. I love the forest, reminds me of my childhood too. Mountain is also great, especialy when there's a huge lake at the top haha. Your story with your mom and Lighthouses made me laugh.

You can't see it from my workplace but there's a low key famous lightouse called le Phare de Cordouan, get there with a boat I'm told the visit is GREAT. I'm pretty sure it's the one I see from a distance when I go for a swim.

Haha sometimes it's hard indeed, but you get used to it and we eat dinner and lunch right before service so it' not too bad :]
