I am so sorry I did not actually ask to use the picture, but if you like I can take it down. I usually ask but I misread your offline thing as 'months' not 'minutes' and i was going to drop you a note, too, but I blanked on that too.

That's alright. I'm flattered that you wanted to use my image.
One thing I might point out, in critique: the spelling is "perform" not "preform". Otherwise, it's pretty cool.

Hiya Thomas!
Well.. I'm kinda new to DeviantART and all.. Alas I added you on myspace as well. Your work is very beautiful, hope we can be friends and talk more.
<3 Danielle
P.S. Is there a way you can send me your music so I can put it on my iPod? Your music is very soothing, I'd like to take it with me. ^_^

Actually, I'm planning on setting up a way for people to download my songs, on myspace, for a dollar, each. I've been a bit busy with work and writing and other things these past few weeks, but hopefully by this weekend I'll have an effective means to distribute my music to friends and fans.

i just really want a nikon D80.
i'm saving up.

BarahirofLadros In reply to purplegrass [2008-05-11 18:16:38 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I'm saving for a Nikon D70, myself. I'd just like to be able to 1.) work with higher resolution files, so that I can make larger prints without compromising quality, and 2.) have a camera that is actually going to be able to process pictures quickly. You see, I actually really like the camera I have. It's an Olympus E-10 Camedia. It has all the professional features I would look for in a camera, at a bare minimum, at least. And it also has a pretty quiet shutter. It's just older, so at 4 megapixels, I can't print much more than 8x10s, and it's also quite slow, so I have to wait a good 6-8 seconds between shots, often, which could mean a missed opportunity.

purplegrass In reply to BarahirofLadros [2008-05-12 02:00:41 +0000 UTC]
yes i know what you mean. I got my camera maybe over a year and a half ago, and i already want a new one. cameras just keep getting better. and i only have 5.1 megapixels. so the quality of my pictures also don't come out very well.
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
BarahirofLadros In reply to purplegrass [2008-05-18 06:04:48 +0000 UTC]
Well the number of megapixels only helps you make larger prints. Like I said, I have an older model Olympus digital SLR, with just 4 megapixels, but I can print 8x10s, or maybe even larger, and I think that I am not wrong in saying that the quality of much of my work is comparable with 'rofessional' work. My Olympus is eight years old, but it's the amount of real control I have over the final product that gives me a reason to hold on to it. What you need is a camera with professional features, which will give you control over every aspect of what the camera is doing. If you can do it manually, and understand what you're doing when you open up the aperture or change the ISO, you can quite often do better than automatic settings the camera would have otherwise used. And that's before you even get into different removable lenses and filters and external flash units.
Also, having recent version of Adobe Photoshop helps immensely in high quality photo production. I know it's expensive, but one way to save money on it is to buy an outdated version of Photoshop on ebay, and then go to Adobe's website and pay to upgrade it to the latest version, using the old version's serial number and registration info. It costs significantly less to upgrade than to buy it flat out. Or you can try to pirate it, but that's kind of... not nice.

i do agree, that you need a camera with professional features. but more megapixels are good for me, because i do print out a lot of my photos, pretty big. and i would looove to get a camera with a manual focus, i hate auto focus. and yes, photoshop does help a lot, i'm in a class where we use it, but i dont have it at home, and i always get so used to using it at school, so when i get home i can't edit my pictures with it. It just makes everything so much harder.

BarahirofLadros In reply to purplegrass [2008-05-20 05:03:54 +0000 UTC]
Larger than 12 or 15 inches? Because 5.1 megapixels should honestly be fine for almost any non-commercial print. Also, you sited megapixels as a factor contributing to lower picture quality, so I was just trying to clarify that if you have more than 4 or 5 megapixels, overall picture quality shouldn't be an issue.
I agree about auto focus. It's useful, often, but it's also very very good to be able to focus on whatever you want, not just what seems to be the most 'important' object to the camera.
Anyway, if quality is still an issue, try using a tripod. Especially in low light settings.

yes i love using the tripod! but who wants to carry that around?!
hhahaha no but really.
i'm just going to save up money and get a better camera.

I have enjoyed it, thank you so much. I feel like I didn't use it to its full potential, as I didn't create any cool journal entries or do anything extra special, but I think it's the little things that I'll miss, and I may actually end up buying a subscription, this summer.

Where do you go to school? I recently transferred from East Carolina University (a big southern school with lots of partying) to Meredith College, and all-girls school in downtown Raleigh. I'm loving it. Looking to major in Art Education; and I am studying abroad in Spain this summer

I'm at Berklee College of Music, in Boston. Haven't decided on a major yet, but I have been considering either Music Production & Engineering or Songwriting.
Studying abroad sounds fun.

Your gallery looks awesome! My computer's being dumb & won't let me leave a comment on any photos. XP
So I had to tell you some how.
& I wanted to know how the music was coming? (I'm a musician, probably a little less expierience but, none the less.) :]
Hope all is well, & keep up the awesome photography..

Erin,
First off, welcome to dA. I hope you're enjoying it so far.
Thanks a bunch. I'm glad you like my photography. Feel free to add me to your friends, if you want.
The music is going pretty well, I suppose. I haven't started any new projects in the past couple of weeks, as I've been busy studying for finals and getting ready to go home for Christmas.
