Great to see more Pern dragons on dA! I've got quite the collection of them myself. I love the original poses they're in. It's always so hard to find a good dragon pose that hasn't been used 50 times already.

Thank you! I have found that I have the best luck using pictures of birds. Owls, and the raptors, are my favorite. I'm wanting to do a brown dragon, so let's see how that goes.

Your Welcome I may have to give that a try using the birds for poses. My dragons tend to be kind of horse like so it should be an interesting mix. Do you have a brown dragon character to draw already?

I can see the horse-ness in your dragons, but they look good. And also search on 'owl'. I've found 'falcon' gives you a bunch of airplanes. 'eagle' is good. Also, you can pause you-tube, but that's a lot harder because you can't save the picture (I haven't found a way).

I actually have riders of every dragon color except brown on various Pern M*s, so *I* don't have a brown dragon character to draw, but I have a friend who has a sexy brown that I think I'll give a shot to do. If it turns out, you'll see it here.

Thanks for faving my wher!

Once I get my current project of drawing reference sheets done I'll try looking up the birds. We have a lot of vultures out here so I wonder how that would turn out. I've got some photos I'll have to dig up.

I've got quite a few dragons from the Weyr I play at if you ever need some 'models'. They all have pretty cool designs, especially a few of the browns and greens. I'll have a list up on my journal tonight if you ever want to take a look at them.

I only play one place and right now I have a zillion folks who have to put up with my bad grammar, crazy dark TP ideas and all my other fits and zany habits, who want me to draw THEIR dragons. So, while I appreciate the offer... I have a big long, long list of possibilities.

I love the wher. Great perspective and I am, at heart, a pencil & paper artist. The rest of this is just fun. Whers are uber-cool critters and I was tickled when Todd did something with them besides making them into 'hide.

I dabbled in having my own place for a few years and finally settled at the one I'm at for the past 4 years. There's tons of twisted plots there that keep things interesting. I totally understand having other dragons to draw. I figured I'd throw them out there incase you ever run out of ideas LOL.

Thanks. I worked on that wher forever in high school. It's a free hand of the one from the Dragonlover's Guide but still came out pretty awesome. I usually do colored pencil pieces but I've kind of gotten away from it since learning how to do things on the computer. Quite a bunch of whers at the weyr I'm plating at. Maybe I'll get around to drawing them sometime.

I've re-read your post four times, and can't find it, so I must have seen it in passing on your page... Is it Arolos Weyr? (Aralos Weyr?--Google search has it both ways). This is a RP by email game. How does that work for you? I can't even imagine trying to keep track of that. I tend to do little scenes RP by email, one pose a day/person, takes forever. I do the 'online' RP style stuff, and usually have two or three scenes going at once, when I'm really going.

Anyway, impressive that you have Whers going on there.

Good luck on your endeavors.

Arolos Weyr is I think the biggest running PBEM game going. We've got a few hundred members at our busiest times. Basically we all have Gmail accounts. Normal weyr stuff is on one list, weyrling and candidates on one and ooc on another. You can create filters to send each list to whatever folders you want. I have it set up so that all replies with my characters names got to a folder for each of them. Everything else lands in the main inbox and just gets deleted (not that you need to delete with Gmail, the storage space is huge).

There's a few hundred replies a day but Gmail groups all same title together so eventually it's just a long running story for each thread. When regular replies aren't fast enough we JP or joint post. Basically a couple of us get on AIM and work on the story back and forth until we're done. I do most of my writing that way.

Thanks. Good luck to you too!

I spent a couple hours reading through the Arolos website. It's impressive. I loved the dragonhealering article (I play a wannabe dragonhealer on Dragonsfire MOO), but I did get the impression that there was a huge amount of email involved. At this point in my life, I might run one or two email scenes with one other person, but I just don't have the time to wade through (because I'd want to!!!) all those other emails. Married, kid, hobby-farm, full-time+ job, service organization, ect.

Arolos looks like a fantastic game, and whoever your BoD is... Looks like those folks really put a lot of time and effort and work into that game. I was entirely impressed. I can see the allure of playing there, but I don't think I could do it justice.

LOL That's the key is resisting reading all the other threads that don't pertain to you. Unless it's Weyr wide news, I just delete it. Other then that you only really take on what you can handle. Some people only have one or two characters. I on the other hand have about 20 characters who seem to fit into my busy life of fiance, 7 pets, work, college and art.

They really do put tons of effort in. I've been there a few years now. For as many people who come and go, they reward the ones who stick around and put in hard work.

I have about four 'major' chars on my current game and that's more than enough for me to keep track of. I'm impressed at your 20!

Have fun!
