Hey, sure no problem : )
The communities Amber and I were talking about, you don't have to have an LJ to read them, just to post and add them to a watch list.
[link] is the main, huge, vast, and never ending Lolita community. Make sure you read the rules before you post there. There are other communities out there for posting pictures of oneself (daily lolita), and sales (egl sales), amongst other things.
[link] is the local community.

Quite Welcome! And I was hoping you would. Pretty much everyone was exhausted on Halloween, and with having to get up at (before the) crack of dawn, I know a lot of people had ded-brain syndrome.
And YAY Dragon*Con!!! It's only February, but I've been counting down the days. It's my favorite event of the year. I can't remember, have you been before? If not, you're going to love it!

You're very welcome! Your costumes are gorgeous, you do fabulous work. Thank you also for the watch
And thank you. I'm a big fan of Doctor Who... and Big Foofty Dresses... and masks... so it seemed only natural to dress up as a creepy tick-tocking robot for Dragon*Con

Aw, thanks!
I wanted so badly to go to D*C this year but we went to California instead! An entire day in the garment district kinda made up for the not-getting-to-see-awesome-costumes thing. Kinda. Hopefully we'll be there next year!

I live in Atlanta, which is the only reason I was able to go. Though I don't know if I would choose it over a trip to the LAGD. I've been out there a few times and it's a pure treasure trove. The closest thing we have here is Gail K fabrics, a store that gets a lot of stuff from the various garment district stores in LA and New York... but still, better than nothing XD
If you're planning on going to D*C this year, I'd go ahead and try to book your hotel if you're wanting to stay in one of the main ones. There was apparently a big mix up and the Marriott (the biggest of the four hotels that D*C takes up) accidentally(?) rented out half of the hotel, including state-rooms, to another convention. They're just about run out of space at this point. It is the best convention on the planet, as far as I'm concerned. Something for everyone, never a dull moment, and the most amazing array of costumes in one place. It's fantastic.

I'll hafta check out that fabric store next time we're up there. It's a bit closer than L.A.!
We have a room at the Hyatt (bleh) for next year because, yeah, we totally couldn't get a room at the Marriott because of their "mix up." IMHO, they didn't accidentally do it...they sell out their rooms for D*C every year so there was no need to give out half the rooms to another convention. It's possible the host hotels are just getting tired of putting up with the D*C crowd. Oh well. I guess we'll see what happens in 9 months!

Gail K is fantastic. I absolutely love it, I live about 25 minutes away, otherwise I'd be in there every day probably.
Oh ok! you're set then. I agree with the not being accidental bit concerning the Marriott. D*C has been downtown a that location for far too long, someone really dropped the ball. I don't know, you'd think they would welcome the crowds, it means lots of money for the surrounding shops and such. One guy who works in the food court at the Hyatt, he owns one of the fast food places in there - he told us that if it weren't for D*C a lot of people would have had to close. We're kind of like the "Black Friday" of conventions, tons of people but we generate enough revenue so that people can continue having a business for the other 361 days a year. You're right though, anything can happen in nine months. I've got my fingers crossed that no more big mishaps will take place.
