Hey buddy,

Saw your thread "Ocean Moonrise" over at OCAU, which in turn lead me here.
I'm normally one to keep my mouth shut and admire quietly.
I felt i didn't have that option when i saw your work.

Suffice to say i stand in awe of your work.

I could only hope to be able to approach the quality of your output in my new found hobby.

Thanks, that's really encouraging. In many ways I hope to keep improving too. The main trick is experience I think. If you keep photographing the same area over and over in different conditions (midday, sunrise/sunset, with a storm etc) eventually you'll stumble on a good combination and just go "wow, that's awesome".

Also, for my latest 4 deviations I've taken ~200 shots. You don't nail it often .

And to be quite honest, a nice DSLR really makes it *much* easier to get good shots. As someone who's recently upgraded from a $350 manual P&S camera to a 300D I can say that equipment plays a much bigger part than people make it out to in the digital age. At least with film you could put good film in a crap camera and get lucky. But with digital a crap sensor/lens combo is always going to be a crap sensor/lens combo .
