Hey Mara, I've just started my stock photo collection and I'd like to invite you to check it out. Also, since it's a new gallery, I also take suggestion on what to photograph. If you want anything, let me know and I'll try to get it shot.
Keep it surreal

I started with color today. You used a very different palette than I normally use, so it has been fun trying to figure out how to make the blend smooth. I asked one of my friends who has more experience with colored pencils and she suggested I use bronze on the main ground and body of the snails. Not sure if that is what you used, but it seems to match really well. I still want to add something else to the image, but I am not sure what yet.

Yes, to adjust to your color-pallette was a bit of a challenge too.
Thats what makes color-collabs more difficult than pencil.
Don't hesitate to draw over the strip, using it as a blending zone, I think that should be legitimate in colored work for an easier blending of shades.
here some color-info:
I'm using Lyra Rembrand 24 Polycolor and some colors of Koh-I-Noor that are not available from Lyra, like cream-white for the snails and walls.
I used sepia-brown for most of the shading, the ground and everything has lots of gold-ochre in it, to give a warm light.
(In the end I polish everything with a splender, which is also from Lyra.)
I had just been stuck with an image and went for a snooze to get ideas.
It helped, I saw some images in half-sleep

Ah! I figured you might be using different pencils. I use Prismacolor, so it is alittle different, but they still blend with yours nicely. I agree, you have to overlap a little with color or there will be a line.
