Sorry to be so late... thank you for the link, I enjoyed the video, this instrument is fascinating and it was nice to see you playing !
Regarding the links, I can't manage... must be particularly stupid. Ah well....
The story regarding the origin of your name was most entertaining...personally, I don't like numbers in my username, so I choose BlueWolf but it was taken, I went for RedFox, taken... I was getting angry, so to make sure it wouldn't be taken & remembering I took Prozac some time in the past, I went for BlueWolfOnProzac...NOT taken !! Success ! But... if I have some argument with someone, it's eas for them to say,"You should take more Prozac" ! Fun !
When are the ephemerals? And what exactly are they? And what's the connection with insects? Here in Western Europe, all the honey bees are dying, in Belgium, 80% of the bees have died last Summer and Fall ! Scientists believe it's poisoning that make them unable to find their way back, but they can't find which chemical ! So sad !
Still exploring DA... ended up on sites about sexual fetishes, both gay and straight, most educative, and now I'm in a special type of weird and extraordinary fractals, "Raw Fractals" ! Very beautiful, strange and complicated, need Photoshop and other stuff...
So, do enjoy the spring and all the wild life... do you have foxes around? I love foxes, but here they don't come to town like they do in the USA... he problem is wild boars which have been protected for years, now they numbers are exploding, they ravage fields, so last Fall a new law allowed to hunt them again, 16,000 were shot but the problem is far from over, there are still much too many.
Stephen.

Can't hike faster, hip is painful !! Yes, I hear charango music too, can't wait to get to Indian village ! Will write more soon, but I'm particularly depressed & back on Prozac -- my 93-year-old mother passed away last week of heart failure, I feel all alone now. She was my best friend & loved to have a gay son ( I told her I was gay in senior high, I was 17... after a few weeks of adjustment, she started smiling again & told me she loved me, gay or straight.)
Hugs,
Steve.

The links work, I just have not had time to get around to them yet. Things are very hectic here this time of year, with gardening at home and ranging in the park....
Yeah, user names often give cause to spin some intriguing yarns.
Ephemerals are ground cover flowers which bloom early in spring, usually throughout April. They can only grow when the weather is warm enough but the forest canopy is not yet leafed over. Once the leaves come, the ephemerals wither away to give sprout to the mosses, ferns and tall flowers on stalks. This happens as April turns to May. Thus, the ephemerals are very short lived and one must get out there quick to snap their pictures. Only two weeks out of the year are ephemeral time.
Honeybee populations are decreasing world wide. Many factors are to blame. European bee invasions, fungi, bacters, and pesticides all play a part in their demise. This is alarming because the bees play such an important part in flower life cycles. The drop in their numbers has placed stress on the entire ecosystem. It is a dangerous and foolish game the corporate monster plays with Mother Nature. I can only hope Pachamama wins out in the end, but I am doubtful based on current trends.
There is all manner of content on dA. I put on my radiation proof turd wading boots and skip over the crass stuff in favor of the jewels hidden among the sewage. Like any social site, you will have the majority of tasteless idiots to step over to get to the really talented artists, which makes the journey worth the time. dA is by far the best of the best, so for ten years, I have served here as the slow dog.
We have all manner of critters in the Smokies, including red and gray foxes. We tried to reintroduce red wolves into the park, but the coyotes took out the pups faster than they could be born. Also, European wild hogs are a troublesome bother, thwarting efforts to re-establish many native species. It is a war for the rangers. The battle is further complicated by the carelessness of park visitors.
If you ever make it to East Tennessee for a visit to my mountains, it would be a great honor to meet up and hike the trail a bit. There is nothing better than a stroll up to yonder ridge for a gander at the valley below, to see birds on the wing, bears in the berries, snakes on the rocks, and all the other things that make a temperate rainforest such a wonderful place to be.

When I look at a nude body I see art, if it is not a pose done for the sake of displaying sexuality. If a woman is not standing there on display with headlights on high beam and the valley wide open, I can accept an artistic value. However, if the picture looks like she just cannot wait to get it on, that to me is tasteless porn. A nude art piece should leave something to the imagination instead of bearing it all without shame. Shucks, anyone can jerk off in front of a camera lens. It takes a real artist to do the real kind of session where the viewer is drawn into the simple beauty of the piece, like the paintings in the Cysteine Chapel.

slowdog294 In reply to BlueWolfDreaming [2015-02-25 14:18:14 +0000 UTC]
If a man is not displaying erect genitals, not playing with them, and is in a pose that accents body rather than sex, it is artistic nude and not porn. Any picture that entices one to be sexually aroused for the sheer sake of doing that is what I would consider to be pornographic. It takes no skill to snap such garbage. All it takes is a shameless approach to exploiting the beauty of the human form and demoralizing it to the point of disgust. This is not art. An artistic nude shot, be it male or female in subject, has to be well thought out, because the object of such an image is to make the viewer go, "WOW" instead of "RAWR". An artistic nude image shows us just how beautiful a human body is. I will admit that sometimes, the line between porn and art becomes quite thin...

I regard you as the "Wise Man" of DA, in the Native American sense. Please have a look at my favourites and tell me if you think that the photos by "VishStudio" and by "Griefy" are artistic nudes? (And also their work as a whole). Thanks in advance.
Augenweide will download on your doorstep (if you watch him!) thousands of "Artistic Nudes", "Nudes" or "New Nudes" a week. Shall we applaud ??
Glad you enjoy beeing of service...your prose is most distinctive & most entertaining ! I don't understand much of the complexity of those magnificent organs or of those computers, but there's so much more in your journals to which I can relate to !
You're lucky to live by that incredible park...soon the spring will be there, and I know that you'll look at one of those blue-bells, maybe thinking of me, but not cutting it, instead, letting it live its gentle life !
I fave your attitude !

They are both artists and not pornographers.
I thank you for the vote of confidence, my friend.
I do not applaud pornographic work. However, if an artist submits an entire gom of work, I will try my best to give each one of 'em a fair gander, and if after finding some favable items, I might then applaud.
I am ready for spring. The ephemerals come!
Glad to be of service, my friend.

Yes, sprig is coming... think of all that activity in the park--nest building, mating--
I found a very interesting man with great pictures, his username is Clippercarrillo, someone who can communicate, just like you...he lives in Kansas, plenty of birds taken in his garden, but in my humble opinion too many cheetahs from Kansas City ZOO ! I like wild animals wild, unless they belong to a seriously endangered species !
Now, I need help from a ranger-- and they are glad to be of service !(something you taught me!) My problem: how do I make a direct link to a profile or a photo ?? Like, if I wanted to make a link so that you just have to click on it to see this Clippercarrillo, how would I do it ?? Thanks in advance for your help !
Are you going to let your beard grow the whole summer?? I tried to let mine grow for 3 months, but finally it was itching so much (that was last winter),I got the hedge clipper & got rid of it ! Or is it protection against mosquitoes ??
Take care, SlowDog ! But why slow?? From what I've read, you're all but physically or mentally slow !!

I am looking forward to the blooming of the early ephemerals as the pollinators take flight all throughout the forest understory. Lots of fun, that. I love stalking wildflowers! (No pun intended.)
To make a link to a fellow deviant, place their username exactly as it appears inside two colons next to the word dev.
Like this, but without the spaces... : dev slow dog 2 9 4 : If you remove the spaces, it does this... slowdog294
Now, you can also use the deviant's avatar by replacing the word dev with the word icon thusly...
: icon slow do 2 9 4 : Take out the spaces and it becomes...
To put them together, just use both lines with a return thusly:
: icon slow do 2 9 4 : Take out the spaces and it becomes...
: dev slow dog 2 9 4 : If you remove the spaces, it does this... slowdog294
To use his name and avatar, simply follow the instructions above, but substitute my name for his. And there you go.
About the beard: I have been growing a full beard for about three years. it keeps my face warm in winter and the mosquitoes off in summer. I find it no bother to have. However, my lady and the younglings would like to see the beard go but the mustache remain. I will wait until warmer weather to do that, if it happens at all. Personally, I think having a bare chin after three years is going to be quite strange at first...
About the name slowdog294
I got into PCs around 1994, just as Windows 3.1 was coming out. I bought one, and ran it many years. Being my first machine, it was factory made and slow as peanut butter running off a spoon. I called it the slow dog. Upon becoming a citizen of cyberspace, I realized that a handle for my ID was needed. I opted for slow dog but it was already taken. So I added numbers to it which signify the evolution of the handle thusly: 2 for success on second try, and 94 for the year this handle became valid. So, after two tries, slowdog294 was born in 1994. Many folks want to think I am the 294th slow dog. Not so. God only knows how many slothful canine entities are really out there, man.

Now, the problem will be to decide what differenciates porn from artistic nudes, and this in less than 20 pages please !!
Augenweide has been inundating us with "artistic nudes", then with "new artistic nudes"...I must admit that some of the models are very classy & some of the pictures are "artsy"...but many others are just plain gross.
Did you see that I had given a new title to one of the very first photos??(in the comments). I like to tease.

An artistic nude shot is an image where the model is displayed as a subject of timeless beauty rather than an object of immediate lust.
Porn is simply a way to cause a person to want to have sex or masturbate.
Anyone can shoot porn. To get an artistic nude takes a lot more work and forethought.

-- I still need the help of a ranger: could you explain how to draw a horizontal line between paragraphs, like you did in your message about the beard, the name slowdog294, etc... ?
-- Can I write several You Tube links in the same message, as I can copy only one address at a time and DA doesn't wait, when I leave DA to go to You Tube, DA deletes my first message as it is "abandoned", not sent.
Thanks for your help ! I wish I were American, and a ranger in a National Park !

First question, the line. This one is easy. Tow redirector symbols, on the keys with the comma and the period, < and > form a tag. If you do this
< h r >
taking out the spaces will draw a line. I had to put them there to show you the code. The h and r stand for horizontal rule. In open HTML, you can put other parameters in that tag using a pair of quotation marks and an equal sign, but I wont get into those sub tags. Just do the above and it will put a line break ruler on your text.
Second question, the linkage. There is no limit to the number of outgoing URLs in a message. When you swith to preview, dA will truncate the code. Give this no pause. it is normal behavior and your link is not broken, just the reveal is shorter.
Wishing to be a USNPS Ranger... Sir, you can become a ranger in the states even after living in another country as a citizen there. We accept all nationalities. You can apply for an internship at Tremont. It is a school where rangers learn how to be well, rangers. Top honors will put you in competition for a tour of duty. Be ready to move where they send you, for the life of a ranger has no permanent resting place and we always go alone...
There are two kinds of positions within the park service. There are the scientists/historians and there are the lawgivers/supervisors. Some folks start as interpreters for seasonal positions, working their way into law and administration. Others start as field study volunteers and work toward becoming specialists in their areas of study, either zoology, botany, geology, history, and folklore.
Good fortune on your pursuit of such a career. I salute you.

Ii simply think that is his choice which, having expressed once, you do not need to repeat. I seem to recall it was not butterflies you suggested. Naked butterflies are beautiful; many of the photographs of naked men are not. Rule of thumb, if he hides his face, he really should hide everything else as well; this applies to women as well.
Not a rancher, rather an adventurer and photographer.
Everyone in the West (except in Santa Fe, of course) wears a Western hat.
