For traditional art, I mainly only drawing/design pencils that come in lead types like for example 4B (harder lead; darker) or 2F (softer lead; lighter). I also use either a kneadable eraser (doesn't erase completely but good for when shading a sketch) or a regular white eraser (it actually erases completely, unlike the pink erasers)
For my digital art, I now use a tablet and Photoshop Elements 8.
