# About me
Engineer, musician, and can't fucking draw for shit, boy howdy folks.I like to play twangy guitar with the springiest of reverbs.
Or cheap shit through bad amps and try and pretend like I'm in The Mummies or something.
A lot of ideas and not very good at executing them.
My username is super dumb but no way am I paying to change it.

Hey there, it has been a long time hasn't it.
I'm not around on this website much anymore, but I'm pretty good.

I've been giving it my best to get even better with art! I want to work at Blizzard, as a concept artist, and I feel ever closer to such goal...
Did you become more active on other websites or something?

Sounds like a plan, boss. Good luck!
Not really, I stopped watching pony a few months ago, and haven't really drawn since so I've not been hanging around her much.
I started sketching again the other day though, trying to remember how to draw people hahaha

I fell in love with the Mosrites when i was a teen-ager playing in surf bands
in those days you could buy a Strat for $335, and a Mosrite cost around $750 ~ needless to say i couldn't afford one until much later in life
now my brother & i own a Ventures Model 12-String, Autographed 6-String, Bass, a Mosrite F-Hole semi-acoustic AND a Mosrite Amplifier
old guy toys

Same here my man, I use one in my surf band at the moment! Nothing else sounds quite like one.
I've got a Ventures MK.1 myself, they're absolute hell to find in the UK, but well worth it.
i.imgur.com/ttHqw2Z.jpg
I'd love to get a MK.V someday as well, Pacific Blue like Ricky Wilson's. A man can dream, heh.
That autographed one sounds interesting! Got any pictures?

Mosrite Forever
Semie Moseley Β 1984
Original Mosrites are hard to find ~ the Ventures became a cult thing in Japan, and the Japanese came over and bought up everything they could get
UK?Β one of my favorite guitars was one i had in 1968, a Burns of London with some really interesting split pickups; i don't remember the model but i loved that thing!

Super cool mate, is that an M88?
Very true, but it does make it all the better when you do manage to find one. Though, now with CITES in full swing I doubt I'll be bothered to import anything, just have to hope I luck out regionally again.
I've never had the fortune to play an original Burns, but they do make some truly great sounds! Was yours a Burns Split Sound by any chance?
π: 0 β©: 1
sirenabonita In reply to Bojangleee [2017-04-11 20:33:09 +0000 UTC]
i guess it would be an M88, now that you mention it ~ i always just thought of it as a Ventures Model reissue ~ what i liked was that it was built by him in the US and not an import (North Carolina)
we bought it from Semie's brother when we bought the amp from him
on the Burns ~ i honestly don't remember the model; it was an early/mid 60s guitar, i think, given to me by a friend; it had been his brother's guitar (he was a studio musician in LA); i just remember the split pickups and a great tone selector switch

Bojangleee In reply to sirenabonita [2017-04-11 20:39:53 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, those 80s Mosrites were almost like a return to his roots, at least production wise. Almost a one man operation!
Thats really cool, is it a BG500/1000?
Fair one, I only guessed the Split Sound because it had the split pickups.
I like to think I'm doing a fair job of sniffing out all the Mosrite owners on this site. Including me I'm up to three now, heh.

Bojangleee In reply to sirenabonita [2017-04-11 21:04:06 +0000 UTC]
Cool cool, yeah the 1000 had two speakers. I'm a sucker for amps with 15" speakers. Would love to try a Mosrite amp someday! I'm using a Fender Deluxe Reverb '68 re-issue at the moment, sounds great!

i've had a few ~ first one was a white Fender Bandmaster; early 60's model with brown grill cloth ~
then VOX, Ampeg, god knows what else
i currently have a cute little Post-CBS Fender Princeton Chorus with stereo effects that dates to around 1990?Β i wired it into a stereo bass cabinet made by Risson so i can play my bass guitars with it ~ it will make more than enough noise to piss-off neighbors who live reasonably far away
π: 0 β©: 1
Bojangleee In reply to sirenabonita [2017-04-11 21:34:08 +0000 UTC]
Oh man, that Bandmaster sounds amazing! I'd love to play through one of those.
Princetons are great, those smaller amps really sound fantastic. My amp for playing at home is a CBS era silverface Vibro Champ, lucky enough to pick it up for free a couple of years ago!
Wiring it into your bass cab is pretty nifty. I like to daisy-chain all my amps together sometimes, I end up with a Fender-Ampeg Guitar-Bass monster, heh.
But far too loud to use at home, hahaha

back in the late 1970s i was in a band that was heavily influenced by the "Boston/Marshall" sound
they complained the couldn't hear the bass guitar
i took my Ampeg SBT preamp head and then i made some active filter networks
Low Pass Filter somewhere around DC to 125 Hz
Band Pass Filter maybe 125 Hz to 400 Hz
High Pass Filter 400 Hz and up
i bought a second SBT powered speaker cabinet
Then i bought two SAE 50 Watt stereo amplifiers, a cabinet with 8 10" speakers and two bass reflex cabinets with 18" speakers (maybe altec lansing? don't remember)
the LPF went into two of the SAE amps and to the bass reflex 18s
the Band Pass Filter went into the SBT powered cabinets
the HPF went into one of the SAE amps and into the cabinet with the 8 tens
because of the filters the amps didn't need to deal with clipping due to harmonics and you could run them closer to clipping without worrying, so the effective watts was a lot more than the sum of the amps
then they complained that the bass was too loud
fuck 'em

Damn, sounds like you were moving a hell of a lot of air! An 8x10 and two 1x18s, must've weighed a ton, let alone the amps themselves!

sirenabonita In reply to Bojangleee [2017-04-11 22:33:14 +0000 UTC]
plus the two sets of SBT powered cabinets, each with 2 X 15 speakers for the mid range
when you are fighting against two Marshall double-stacks pumping our gigawatts of distortion you gotta call in the big guns!
big vans to move the equipment and wheels on everything!

Bojangleee In reply to sirenabonita [2017-04-12 21:50:08 +0000 UTC]
Generally yes, whether or not the band uses it is usually up to them but they normally do. Let's just say Dinosaur Jr. aren't ones to use a PA...

Bojangleee In reply to sirenabonita [2017-04-12 22:10:57 +0000 UTC]
Mmmhmm. I like a good balance personally, loud enough amps to get the sound out into the room and hear myself, but still micced up so everyone can hear clearly. Size of the venue depending, of course.

Bojangleee In reply to sirenabonita [2017-04-13 18:37:00 +0000 UTC]
A venue being too big for a band is a very real thing, and it can make for a disappointing show. I saw one of my favourite bands (Sleaford Mods) in a cap. 500 venue and it was one of the best shows I've ever been too. I saw them later that year at a stadium and the sound and energy was just lost.
Venue size is very important

Bojangleee In reply to sirenabonita [2017-04-13 20:34:02 +0000 UTC]
Indeed it does.
I studied mechanical engineering for 3 years and aeronautical engineering for 2. I am a fully qualified aircraft fitter, though I'm not certified on any type. Though now I work in a guitar shop, heh.
I was much better at the theory side than the practical side anyway, hands weren't quite steady enough for precision metalwork. That was before I got my glasses though, that could've played into it, haha.

i repaired avionics equipment when i attending one of the colleges i never graduated from
been a guitar tech most my life ~ worked at Bartell of California for Paul Barth and Ted Peckles when i was a teenager~ i build a new one up everyΒ now and then
i mostly do wood ~ not so much metal ~
i did wire my brother's race car from the bare chassis up ~ forum.chumpcar.com/index.php?/β¦

Parallel universe indeed!
Wow, working at Bartell sounds amazing! I'm a big fan of those smaller 50s-60s-70s US guitar companies, Mosrite, Standel, Travis Bean et al. Always, always really interesting instruments.
I'd love to build my own guitar, but as I said I'm not particularity graced with practical skills nor do I have the tools, but luckily enough I live verrrry near to a little guitar factory, just have to save up, heh.
That's a sharp looking car! Never got into cars so much, planes were more my thing, but my limited knowledge at least extends to knowing that it looks cool, hah!
