Well gee thanks! I must say your tutorial for coloring has been a big help for me recently. Unfortunately, I still only have a mouse (the headaches! I feel them coming) so I've had to cheat a few steps, but it's still been really really helpful!

Glen Keane is one of the most fantastic artists that ever lived. Have you seen his interviews on the Special Edition DVD for Beauty and the Beast? It's jaw-dropping to just watch him sketch and then BAM! he's created something wonderful in like, 3 minutes!

No, but I have seen videos on youtube of him teaching a class at Calarts, He made a animation of Tarzan in like 3 minutes, it was amazing and incredibly beautiful.

No, as a kid I was more into the furry characters than the face ones, and now as a grad I just don't have the time to drive down to Anaheim. I am planning a trip soon-ish though, and my first priority will be, of course, to meet every Hatter that I can.

I'm actually trying to jump straight into the animation studios, just sent in a bunch of portfolios to both Disney and Pixar. Hopefully I'll hear something good back within the month! :crosses gingers: Other than that, I am considering possibly working somewhere in the Park area. I work in a hotel now, so the idea of maybe working at the Disneyland Hotel has always been present in my mind.

Really, Thats amazing I wish you tons and tons of good luck, I want to be a Disney character animator soo bad I've wanted to be one ever since I was five, but the bad thing is I'm just starting the tricks of the animation trade so I'm not that good yet. Have any tips for good animating. And if you do work at the studios, Bring Back 2D animation! Good luck

I have no tips for animating, sorry, never got trained for that. What I do best is storyboarding and for that...um, facial expression are key, and also just learning human anatomy and how it flows in all poses. (I still have issues with hands/feet, so that what I'm working on.)
One of my favorite things to do is to go to this site, [link] and try to come up with a drawing for whatever the word of the week is. It's great help when you can't get inspired. Also fun when you have a certain obsession you just can't give up. :coughReggiecough:
Thanks for the good luck wishes!

The website seems really cool, and I agree hands and feet are the hardest to draw , but I practice alot. I really do hope you get in. Whats your favorite form of animation 2d or 3d? I personally don't like 3d, no idea why it just gets on my nerves. and Whats you favorite disney movie?

Oh, of course 2D! I was ecstatic when Enchanted came out, I wish the entire thing had been animated! And don't even get me started on how excited I am for The Princess and the Frog in December!
It's hard for me to pick just one Disney movie and call it my favorite, I love about 5 equally all for different reasons.
First, Peter Pan. The original novel is still my favorite story, so of course I loved the Disney movie as well. And yea, Peter was probably my first fictional crush as a kid.
Others would be The Little Mermaid (for the music) Alice in Wonderland (for the characters and generally silliness)and then Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, and Aladdin for the stories, and the groundbreaks they made in animation.
Wow...can you say long-winded explanation? So yea, basically anything from the "Golden Age" of Disney could qualify as a favorite of mine. What about yours?

Me too, I reeally wanna see The Princess And The Frog(it seems amazing and I am glad they are going back to 2d can you imagine disney without 2d?)
Its also really hard for me to pick a favorite but the one i watch the most is The Hunchback Of Notre Dame (love Quasi )
When I first saw Peter Pan, I totally started a Club dedicated to Neverland, and me and my brother spend alot of time jumping of beds and counting how long we stayed in the air.
Yeah, my family thinks I'm crazy because I'm such a fan of Disney.
By the way, have you read Disney Animation The Illusion Of Life By Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas ? Its a great book it taught me sooo much about animation and everything inbetween?

I have not had the pleasure of reading that, but I'll make sure to pick up a copy next time I'm at Borders.
Oooh, Hunchback! Some of the greatest music, I can listen to that cd over and over again.
Have you listened to the cd from the Disney musical "On the Record"? It's a must for any Disney nut!

Imagine30 In reply to BriarRose86 [2009-04-28 01:09:55 +0000 UTC]
No, Where could I find it? I love Quasi, I sorta think i look like the girl from the sequel that Quasi likes, I auditioned for my school muscical with the song God help the Oucasts, I didn't get in but, I think Mr.Walsh has a thing against Disney, Another girl auditioned using a Disney song and didn't get in.
I have a weird thing about voices, if a character has a cute voice I'll automatically like the cartoon. That probably started my first cartoon crushes on Quasi, Alladin and such
Just wondering have you seen Bri-chan's shoe commissions they are amazing

I found my copy at Borders (my go-to store for everything lol) but let me see if I can find a few on-line links for ya...
[link] well, this is all i could find so far, but it'll give you a taste. Basically, it was a short-lived musical Disney had on Broadway where 4 singers met in a recording studio and made a Disney cd. The story of their relationships with each other is told through both the songs they are recording, and the songs they "speak" to each other. (Still Disney)
Cute cartoon voices = WIN! I do alot of musical theater, and my specialty is character voices. My idol is Kristen Chenoweth. You HAVE to watch her perform![link]
I have seen Bri's shoes and them! They actually inspired me to do a pair for my sister last Christmas. She's a big Cinderella nut, so I did the two stepsisters, one on each shoe. (Growing up, we would often imitate that butt-swaying walk they have to make my parents laugh...yea, weird kids)

Thats so awesome, you should take a picture of them and put them on Deviantart. Wasn't Kristen Chenoweth on Wicked?
I made a pair a shoes too, but they have this weird abstract design, and I didn't know what to use as a sealant, so they bled. What did you use to seal the shoes?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
BriarRose86 In reply to Imagine30 [2009-04-28 20:49:50 +0000 UTC]
I know! I should've taken pics, but they're in another city right now...oh well. Next time I make a pair I definately will.
Yes! Kristen was the original Glinda in Wicked. She defined that character, it was so amazing! The sealant I used for the shoes was the brand Krylon, it's an aerosal spraycan, used to seal paint. You can probably find some at any stores. My sister is really careful with the shoes though and doesn't wear them if the ground is wet at all. I think the type of markers you use helps too. I use Prismacolors, they are like the god of markers. Expensive, but worth it, you can also blend them like paints which is cool!
