Thanks for the drop by! Natalie Portman is beautiful and the way you did it is admireable (hope this word even exists. = ) anyways... Worship Worship Worship Worship Worship ... I wanted to ask you something... forgot... hmm... oh yeah, how do you start a portrait? what pencil, straight lines or what? I want to draw a Bob Marley pic, but don't know how to start... I just started 6 months ago to draw and just for fun so I have no idea about technics and styles... Confused

Hi Joe!

I was so happy to read your advice I will try for sure! The Sturcture, shading, highlights kinda worked for me at my BMW S5, although I had no idea I'm using them... I will watch out for them. The newest thing for me is how you do it from top to bottom and don't smudge them... I will give this a shot. My scarecrow pictures were really messy and I was getting kind of fustrated. So thankies for the lots of good advice! I will post it so you can give me some more tips.

So you want to start a portrait mm well there is never one way of doing something......but I will tell you how I draw things.... Some time if I'm in the mood I will simply just get a photograph of the chosen subject that I want to draw and draw it straight off!!!!!.......But being that you have been only drawing for six months that may be a bit advanced for you...... mm Well first off get a good image of Bob Marley and draw sketch versons of it in your sketch book using a grid drawn over the origional image until you no your way around the image. Then after you have a good Idea of how to draw wot you see then you can begin some more detailed sketches. The three main elemants of drawing are Structure, Shading and Highlighs........... Always follow thous rules in that order and most if not all of your drawings will look fine!!!!.... But the first rule Structure is the most important if you get that right every thing else will work trust me....I've been using these rules a long time!!!.. I always work anti clockwise because I'm right handed and if I'm working in pencil I do a loose sketck of wot I want and then I always start with that hair first because I hate drawing hair so I get that out the way first. But I always start at the top of the drawing and then work my to the bottom that way you don't smudge wot you draw!!!!.

Well thats about it, if you have any questions just ask me and I will help you.........
The best example I have which shows you how I draw a portrait is the peice in my gallery called Tutorial its a portrait of my self........... give it a look it may help you in some way.

Anyhoo I hope I have helped in some way and if not there alot more experianced artists on deviant art then meeeeeee..... well take care and good luck on your peice I will keep my eyes open for it!!!!!!! bye bye...
