Favorite visual artist: can't pick just one... I'll come back to this part later.Favorite movies: Ex Machina (wow, did THAT ever mess with my head!), The Abyss (full version), Blade Runner, Ghostbusters (original!), Hot Fuzz, Planet of the Apes (the original, and only the first one), My Cousin Vinnie and many more
Favorite TV shows: Space:1999, Spaced, Blackadder, StarBlazers, Firefly... I guess over the years, I've watched a bit more SF than I realized.
Favorite bands / musical artists: Rush (not the overly commercial 1990's stuff), pre-1980's Heart, pre-Hagar Van Halen, Yes, The Cars, Billy Idol, DeeLite, Goldfrapp, Yello, & several local bands that have broken up. Also many film scorers incl.Jerry Goldsmith & James Newton Howard
Favorite books: Without getting specific here, I read a lot of history and science, and some fiction. That sounds more boring than it actually is...
Favorite writers: Another one I'll get back to later.
Favorite games: Anyone remember the old laserdisc arcade video game Mach 3? No? Man, that one was fun, back in the day. I like a few video games, but I'm also a sucker for board games.
Favorite gaming platform: Whatever's available... usually that's Playstation or Xbox
Tools of the Trade: A beat up Sony Cybershot camera, pencils and paper, and some long-unused acrylic paints and canvas.
Other Interests: Dinosaurs (wow! There are tons of dino artists here at DA!), model building, hiking/camping, biking, astronomy, geology, weather, history (incl. military history).

You're welcome.
I've only just glanced at your gallery, but hope to have some time soon to go through it more thoroughly. You've certainly captured the beauty of Finland in some of the photos I've seen so far!

You are very welcome!
I love your style of illustration; it fits the subject matter well and shows a great deal of technical skill and artistry. I have a hard time looking away from each piece, because there is so much to look at IN each piece, regardless of the story represented.

No prob! Those are two of my favorite G films, and your reviews pretty much echo how I feel about them (and for many of the same reasons).

BTW, I laughed aloud at your review of GINO '98. The interjections ("I hate you, film!") really showed your ever-growing frustration with each turn in that terrible film. (I'd be snarky and ask "How do you REALLY feel?", but what's the point? )
Another BTW, the animated series 'sequel' based on GINO is actually not bad, and indeed improves on so much of what was wrong with GINO. It's not exactly classic G, but does at times come a little closer to it. (Plus, and maybe this is just me, it almost reminds me of an updated version of the old 70's H-B cartoon, minus Godzooky.)

Thanks, yes my rant-filled hatred of GINO knows no bounds!
I agree the animated series was much improved. Monster Wars, the three part take they did on Destroy All Monsters was awesome.Β

Hey dude!
Hope you're well!
You've always been interested in my work so I thought you might be interested.
I've started writing a series of stories. It's a 50's Detective series.
Want to read it and give me your opinion?

OK, I read the story...
Quick take: it's pretty 'bare bones' much like the main character's notes. Don't know if that was intentional, or if this is just a rough draft to get the main plot points and characters down. Not that I like needless padding (like famous American author Ernest Hemingway; many of his novels are SOOOOOOO bloated with boring detail, although his short stories are less so)... but your story was almost TOO short.
IΒ must confess that I'm used to 'police procedurals' like Inspector Morse or A Touch of Frost, so maybe I was expecting a bit more detail because of those. It was hard to get to know the character beyond what you described; I felt as though I was being TOLD that he was a (somewhat successful) private detective who had a good rapport with the local police, rather than EXPERIENCING all that as I read.
Still, it's an interesting subject you've elected to tackle, and I see a 'diamond in the rough' that could be an interesting, moody series of short stories. I noticed that the heading indicated 'private files of...', which might explain the writing style: this is supposed to be a statement from Ryder himself, yes? (I guess that explains the 'bare bones' thing I mentioned at the start of this critique.)
That could be an interesting way of doing all of these, although I almost feel like it would be better as an introduction to telling more detailed stories... have the start of the statement written by Ryder, tell the story in a bit more detail, then finish with the last part of the statement by Ryder. Or something like that.
But having said all that, they are YOUR stories, and you are in control of how they are told. I'd be happy to read and give advice, but it's just that: advice. Adapt it to your work as you see fit.
(pause)
I thought I said this was going to be a QUICK take...
:/

Well, the premise is it was meant to be his overall report just after the event.
So, for extended events (Like something spanning weeks) there would be multiple "reports".
And since he's remembering it, I wanted it to be descriptive in ways but non descript in others.
As people forget things. So, he's remembering the most important things and only some of the minor ones.
So, I wanted to keep it fairly minimal, specially as I haven't a clue how to flesh it out more to make it longer.
I've never been that good at waffling on about bullshit. I generally get almost straight to the point with a little description thrown in.
That said, there's a lot of editing I need to do within it so it flows better, as it's a little disjointed currently.
Also, some cases will be revisited. So, I decided to start at 127, but, sometimes a case will give a simularity to one he's previously done,
so he will "attach it" to his current one, which means I'll write a story which is similar in nature within that story.
If that makes sense?
Lastly, sorry I took so long to get back to you.
Been doing a lot of stuff dude.
Hope you had a good Christmas and New Year.

No worries about long wait times... I've been very busy myself, including switching jobs/careers. Hopefully, it'll pay off in the long run, but it's creating a bit of chaos at the moment. All things considered, though, things have been going relatively well. Except that my camera finally is pretty much falling apart and I can't yet afford a replacement. (Hopefully, I'll have time to go through my old files and upload some more photos, even if they are a few years old.)
Re: the story...
"Disjointed." I think that sums up the initial style, so a little polishing to get the flow is indeed just what is needed. I hope that you find time to do so. Also, I really like the idea of 'attaching' previous case notes to current ones; nifty way of writing flashbacks! I look forward to seeing that in action someday!

Hows the new job going? I'm glad to hear things are
better though.
And that sucks. My camera is also starting to get a bit shitty.
Regarding the story, I've left the first as it is (with a bit of grammatical editing etc.
But, the second currently is a lot better.

It isn't finished so not only is it not complete, but grammatical mistakes and punctuation isn't finished.
And I will certainly attempt to make these things work well

OK, earlier (7 Sep 2013) I wrote about the three photo prints I recently purchased: I guess I'm feeling 'landscapey' today: "Neverending Path," "Up in the Hills," and "The Bridge."
Well, they finally arrived, and they looked Β fine. There were some slight double/blurred portions in "Hills" and "Bridge," but nothing that I find terribly distracting. More important, the colours were nice and rich without seeming unnatural, which is good since I want them to look like I'm looking out a window!

And blurriness how annoying.
But, I would imagine it's because of wind when I took the picture.
Cos it didn't really show up when I was editing. So much have
been very faint

Yeah, "Thistle" to be precise (the one we discussed the other day in the comments), and I'm working on getting another to take advantage of the latest dA 'buy 2 get 1 free'Β sale. I have a basement workshop with no windows, so I try to get a selection of interesting, colorful and/or organic art to liven things up a bit, sometimes including portraits.
Surely others have bought stuff from you; I'm not the only one am I? (I don't want to seem like some crazed fanboy or groupie!) Don't assume every sale is to me, though... I'll let you know whenever I get one of yours/which one(s) I got.
I've not had a chance to check out your website yet, btw. Give me a coupe of days or so.

I guess I'm feeling 'landscapey' today: "Neverending Path," "Up in the Hills," and "The Bridge."
I notice that they all seem to have similar shades of green, so I likely will be rotating these in and out of display as I get too accustomed to one. I almost got one of the "Woodland Shoot" (with the two black-and-purple clad women climbing through the trees) just because it looked so fun and different from the rest of the order; another day for that one!

I particularly enjoyed what shows up in your site's slideshow as photo # 1/19, 4/19, 12/19 and 14/19 in the First Proper Shoot. Kind of a playful mischievousness about them (the models). Also, it's interesting seeing 'goth' looking costumes and such, but so boldly coloured instead of all black. I hope that you all had fun, and that it was also a good learning experience!

I guessed it was you. Just making sure
Hope when you get it it's a decent print
And ahh that sounds annoying.
No windows sucks >< XD
And only one person has ever bought a print.
And I don't mind if you're a crazed fanboy/groupie
It means I get money to do more on my work.
(Even if it is only little amounts!!)
And okays dude no rush ^^
