I actually found your profile through doing a google search on Jack Sparrow's coat, and was wondering what material you used for your coat, as I'm having a pretty rough time finding decent material for it (I know the screen-used fabric has been unavailable for a while) Just thought I'd also add that your version of his coat is one of the most screen-accurate replicas I have seen, it's really really well done!

Your costume reproductions are absolutely amazing btw. Your attention to detail is incredible and it is very clear that you put a ton of work and skill into each of your creations. It's really great seeing such high quality costuming and character representation, really makes me want to strive to do the same. Maybe one of these days haha. Still in the very beginning stages of learning to make costumes myself

I'm so,so sorry about the delayed response, I don't come here very often anymore!
I got my Jack coat fabric from Joanns! I believe one of the Sparrow costume break-down sites had the link to it, I hope it's still available for you!

Oh I see. I think the Jack Sparrow costuming wiki has the link to it, but when I click on the link, it doesn't work anymore. I am assuming then that the fabric at Joann's has been discontinued. And I am pretty sure that the screen used fabric (the Ebony Raffia) must have been discontinued because Disney didn't want the Jack Sparrow impersonators to have access to the accurate material, as they are very protective over their character designs and such.. so pretty sure that was a strategic move on Disney's part.

Anyways, you're very welcome! And thanks! I made a pirate coat similar to Captain Flint's from the show Black Sails as a kind of trial run so I know what to do when I decide to work on Jack's coat. It wasn't too difficult to actually make, just very time consuming lol I imagine doing Jack's coat will take forever since all of the button holes have to be hand embroidered and there's around 48 of them I think. Oh man.

Yeah the button hole embroidery took forever for me! But I hate hand sewing and seem to be extra slow at it so maybe it won't be so terrible for you lol! At least it's something you can take with you if you have to go wait somewhere.

I'm slow at hand sewing too, but it is definitely something I can work on while watching TV. I'll probably finish all of the TV shows I plan on watching while working on the button holes lol. Last year when I made my Jack Sparrow wig I made it through the entire Merlin series, those dreadlocks were so annoying to make
