Lately I have mostly been learning to play mandolin. It's lots harder than I imagined. I think because the fretboard is that much smaller than a guitar's. But then I've only been learning for about 3 weeks. I presume it will get easier in time...

I'm actually about to dash off somewhere - so this was a really bad time to start writing a reply to you (particularly as I just realised I have lots of things to say) - so I'll try to remember to write to you agian later/tomorrow.

I've put some photos of you up on here and on facebook today. Did you notice?

I noticed the ones on facecack, not the ones on here. I have a semi-acoustic (why is it never semi-electric?) mandolin that I can't play, been trying to play the thing for about a year and a half now, Physically impossible for me to from some of the chord shapes because my hands are too big. Tried varying the way you make the shapes but no avail. V. Annoying. Whats even more annoying was it was bought as a gift, and one I didn't ask for. I wanted a zouk, as I'd been led to believe that they were slightly larger than mando's, but got the mando, and had to pretend at the time, that I really liked it. (If I saw the person now I'd shove the bloody thing up their arse sideways, followed by the hardcase, all the mandolin books, and finally the tuner. So I'm not sure about it getting easier with time. I can play a few tunes on it, but only ones that don't contain certain chords, or no chords at all (For You by the barenaked ladies is a very good tune to start off learning).

We really must catch up at some point. We really must meet up at some point. I may well be moving back to Surrey the begining of June, will keep you posted on that. It seems I've finally got over my "can'tbebotheredtogetoffmyarseanddostuffitis". Which is good.

Have I still got the right phone number for you?
