D= Well all your graphics are pretty awesome..But I can guarantee I am not that good. And I forgot that was in there ><
I am a videogame artist but all around I am trying to hone my skills in all aspects.
Generally if I manage to do something at a proffesional level it takes me 3weeks XD But I wish you luck.

Honestly anything would help, i really only need a a little bit of art work. Even 3 weeks would be fine, but i doubt u would need that long for such simple work. It could be a good opportunity to hone your skills and build up a portfolio .

hey!
Sorry it took me so long to reply. First tell me which of the following you are interested in making art for:
1) Characters.
2) Weapons. (Swords, guns, whatever)
3) Tile sets.
4) Misc. (Explosion effects, splash screens, whatever).

I think weapons are more what I'm into it.

Cool! Weapons it is then.
Here is what i require:
1) BMP or PNG file format only.
2) 64 x 64 max image size, smaller is fine as long as the quality is good.
3) Weapon Types: swords, guns, daggers, axes, katanas, rocket launchers, throwing stars, staffs... whatever you can think of is fine, as long as the overall shape is straight, and it doesn't bend, so no whips.
4) Theme: Mid-evil, sci-fi, modern, whatever, anything is fine.
5) Style: Anything is fine.
6) Weapon should point perfectly straight to the right. This needs a bit of an explanation. For guns it means if fired the bullet would come out moving right.
For Swords it means that a line from the hilt to the tip of the blade would point right. The blade can still curve, have nicks, have a wavy edge, or whatever, so long as the overall form of the blade doesn't bend too much and points right. Basically don't draw it diagonally, just make it point straight.
7) Number of weapons: whatever you want to do. Even one would help a lot.

Haha ok, seems pretty exciting!
Now I did a real quick mini pixel to see if I get the direction idea right.

And I will do my best to get you a nice bit done. XD But I also gotta make sure I do homework as well.
Oh and animations?
Do you want me to animate them?

Yeah very exciting! You should see when the game runs!
Ok for the pic you showed me, the gun is perfect, but the sword is not, it can't be diagonal like that. My game will rotate them internally, allowing the weapon to be held at any angle (it does this real time no problem xD), but i need it straight like the gun and NOT diagonal like the sword. In fact it rotates so that it is always held in the correct direction xD.
As far as animations go, not entirely sure what i am going to do to be honest, but i was thinking of just using an effect when the gun fires (1 time image), and an effect when something is hit (again 1 time image), so there would be a firing image overlay-ed on top of the gun as opposed to having multiple images showing the gun in various stages of firing.
And yeah make sure to do your h/w! and have fun.

Haha alright cool, I wasn't 100% on the directions. I'll see what I can do.

So rather than fine tune my pixels before getting an "ok" from you I thought I would show you what I have done. Mind you the shading on the blade of the sword sucks haha.

And do you want the colors to be less bright?

wargamer In reply to Captain-Leinad [2010-10-15 20:05:24 +0000 UTC]
Wow! That is absolutely amazing.
The quality is perfect. As far as the coloring goes the brightness is fine.
The trick will be to produce many different items with as little work as possible. I suggest small variations here and there, but whatever works for you. I created variations by changing the color of the blade. [link] . I hope you don't mind me posting it in my gallery. But the idea is that small variations will allow for many items while saving a lot of time. For example you could add a hook to the edge of the blade or give it a rippled edge.
Keep up the good work . If i need anything specific i will let you know.
Also: Be sure to keep a personal portfolio of your work, it will definitively come in handy in the future when looking for jobs and whatever.

Haha, glad to know!
It shouldn't be two hard to add variation in quick forms.
I could pretty easily break the blade and we would have a broken version.
The hook would be easy enough to do.
Yeah just let me know if theres something in particular you would want.
I will keep them in a portfolio!

I made a few variations. I hope you don't mind if i play around with the artwork, i just got an artistic urge and couldn't help myself lolz. Just wanted to share my ideas with you . It's to bad but my coloring doesn't match up to yours at all, even though i just stole your pattern.

I will let you know if i need anything.
Oh yeah. The longer ones represent the maximum length for the sword. I measured 62 (which is less than 64)units from the middle of the handle to almost the tip of the blade.
