Lol. Well, Disney Hook was my first introduction to the character, so he will always be among my favorite versions. I actually like him in part because of how silly he is... And yes, he's a villain, but hey, he's also a pirate. ;) (Wink)

I like how silly he is, his good manners, his sophisticated speech, his elegant clothing and hairstyle, etc. Plus, in the original book, Hook is a very complex, sympathetic character. I realize not everyone likes him, but he's just a personal favorite of mine.

Hi Lauren,
Because I'm inept at sending messages through Tumblr...
I bought the recording of Treasure Island read by Conried through iTunes (for $9.99 I believe). I would send it to you, but it is a 5 hour 30 minute recording, making it rather a doozy to send through the interwebs.
It was originally recorded for vinyl in 1959, so the audio quality is a bit lacking, but not awful by any means.
Hans said of the recording session: "Boy, did I run out of British sailor voices!" (having now listened to about 4 hours, it's true.) It's well worth buying.

Oh, wonderful! I have been thinking it was you for a while now, but only just thought to actually ask.
I am most honored to be held in such esteem in regard to James' character. He is such a misunderstood (and dare I say misinterpreted) character, I feel compelled to share what I learn and know - it's absolutely exhilarating to hear these thoughts of my are appreciated.
Indeed, I, too, am glad there is a fellow spirit out there who shares similar opinions on the solitary enigma that is James Hook.

And I saw Frozen last week and LOVED IT. I thought some of the songs were a little random and thrown in there, especially with the trolls, but over all I thought it was a good movie. I ended up liking Olaf more than I thought, haha.

Yeah, that really surprised me. I also liked that the 'true love' wasn't a kiss from a prince this time, that was a nice change too. I loved the whole "You're gonna marry a guy you JUST met? Are you crazy?!" I'm so happy they finally pointed out how bad of an idea that is! I really hope they do more unconventional stuff like that, princes and princesses are nice, but there's more out there than that. I also want to read the original story, The Ice Queen, that Frozen was based off of. It was written by Hans Christian Anderson.
