hmm I'm really bad at giving tips// lmao but what I find really useful in clip studio is the different settings you can use on the layers, especially the add glow and the glow/color dodge, you know those thingies... they're really good for making highlights and stuff! like when you have a base colour you just add another layer and mask it, change the masked layer's type (where it says normal) to those settings and mark out your highlights with white, then turn down the opacity and it'll give you straight a really vibrant highlight, it's actually quite nice. i like using that combined with that spray paint brush with all the little dots (you know what I mean?) and it makes really nice sparkles that are great to add to any kinda boring plain colour, like skin, where it's hard to put detail.

I use it quite often like here;

and basically in every one of my drawings lmao


it's also really fun to play with the things on the tool bar like with the blur effects you can make movement blurs and other things for layers or sets of layers and it's just really fun to play around with idk you can make some interesting stuff with that// ok i'm being really vague sorry jfC

definitely take advantage of all the brushes they give you to make like soft circles and stars and stuff! it makes backgrounds a lot less of a hassle. also try experimenting with the stamp brushes, they seem cheap af but they can come in handy sometimes

finally i'd say use the selection tool and the options that appear under the selection once it's in the square thingie because they're very useful (wowie that sentence was... incomprehensible) what i mean is go play with the advanced settings on the selection tool because in CSP it's actually quite good compared to SAI, imo. it selects pretty well and you can play around with the colour margin and the expansion, as well as the options under the selection once it's in the square thingie like invert, fill with colour, clear etc. etc and...

ok i'll just stop here like jesus i'm really unclear sorry my old computer that had clip studio paint actually broke down so I don't have it anymore lol i'm doing this from memory xDD fORGIVE ME
