# About me
I like working with my hands. The ideas and patterns in chainmail come pretty easily to me.I'm of an odd sort. Besides this, I write, draw, play music and brew beer. I create. A maker of things both odd and amusing. Because I'm odd and amusing. I can also be pretty dumb at times.
when I grow up I want to be a time traveler.

I love this much more then actual original result work of the dragon keychain from M.A.I.L., I really love your larger scale dragon versions. For the long green and blue dragon what weaves did you use out of curiosity. I've been working on a big dragon myself based on the M.A.I.L. tutorial but really like the slight modifications you did. Also your tutorial which I stumbled upon after getting frustrated with the head and found your way of doing the head made more sense to me.Β

Its kind of like a dragonback, without the "back" part. Β I made two 3-in-1 half persian weaves, one of them in reverse, and attached both of those with 3 rows of Euro 4-in-1 for the belly, and then used the scales to secure the other end. Β I go into more detail about how I did it in the Body section of my tutorial.

I LOVE your work, especially the dragons. I am interested if you would sell one, and how much they are. I would really love to have one!!

Which one were you interested in? I currently have a red one and a black one on my etsy page for sale: [link] (red) [link] (black). Since those are much larger, they run $100.
I also have made some bracelets, which are quite a bit cheaper, one of which I have left at my store: [link] I'm currently making more varieties of these, but I'm always available for commissions.

Love the work. Any advice for a novice about to delve into chain-mail jewelry?

Sure! I suggest buying some rings from a craft store and making something with those first. Kind of a "try it before you buy it" type thing. Start with a simple pattern, like the European 4-in-1 [link] or Persian 3-in-1 [link] (By the way, that site has arguably the best written tutorials I've seen online).
What helped me when I started was to make things that I enjoyed, like a small bag for my dice, or a hacky sack cover. Jewelry is another good place to start, it can be as simple or complex as you'd want it to be.
If you enjoy the craft, you can either invest in tools to make your own rings, or buy them online. The Ring Lord [link] is good, although shipping to the US takes a little while, and the Blue Buddha [link] also has a good variety of rings.
There's some good communities out there, like The Ring Lord forums or M.A.I.L. [link] which are full of good info and more maillers. I don't really post on forums myself, I usually hang around here or reddit, but they're still good sources of information.
Hope that helps!

Love the maille work!
Do you make your own rings? If not, we should talk.

I make about 90% of the rings I make, save for anything anodized, or if I need titanium or niobium.

Saw cut, or clipper cut? Sorry, just curious. Standard pricing on premade rings is about triple what it costs to make them, so I try to make my own whenever possible.
I just need an anodizer before I can kick out any colored rings. The tumbling process (deburring) would scratch off the anodizing in a big hurry if I used anodized wire. I'd have to color them after production.
Seems like most people who like maille already make it!

I'll change it up depending on the project. For jewelry, bags or other things where wanting smoothness is optimal, I'll go ahead and saw them. But for bigger projects where that's not an issue, I'll just take my shears to them, since its easier and faster.
