I am hiding out underneath a large rock. I am alive and updating my silly photoblog , but I am not feeling the dA vibe so much these days.

:: I'll try to be a little more active for your sake.

Twists are always good.

Unless they're being performed on necks.

But otherwise, everyone loves a good twist.

I just spent the last 40 minutes reading her journals. I wish I could write like that. And she does it in Hungarian, too. Cripes.

i know...

there is a handful of people on dA that really have legitimate/real talent... the kind of talent that is just obvious... that doesn't require explanation, introduction or context... it just is...

and i think she may be one of those... at least, i think her writing is that good... maybe not her images... (which are also good, just not as good)...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chameleonperson In reply to mgilpin [2007-02-22 01:00:41 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I noted you complimented her on the journal entry to which you linked me.

...pretend that was a coherent sentence.

And I dunno, I like her photos. I've always wanted to take moodily-colored photos of my (nonexistant) hip indie friends.

yeah, that is friggin' great... i think i need to buy that album...

given that you like that, do you know the tiger lillies ?... one could draw some parallels between this song and what they do (i think it is the ... i was lucky enough to catch a performance of junk opera they did shock-headed peter a few years back... great, great fun... and very smart...

and i really like the other song, too... and i love i can think while listening to it... (grin)... i hate it when i'm typing away and i copy lyrics into a post/comment...

oh... and another thing... love that fucking site!... i am finding some great music there...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chameleonperson In reply to mgilpin [2007-02-17 14:43:43 +0000 UTC]

Hadn't heard of the Tiger Lillies... I've pretty much only heard of really, really famous groups (or really, really obscure groups). I hate the guy's voice. I can appreciate a falsetto when used in moderation, but not for an entire song. The non-falsetto songs are... hm. I don't think I'd buy the album.

About being distracted by lyrics- As a music major, it was impossible for me to listen to ANY song mutliple times without singing along, so when I really needed some cover noise, I used THIS thing. Every time you refresh the page, it gives you a different song, and it can last hours on end if you should so wish. As an added bonus, it's fun to watch.

mgilpin In reply to Chameleonperson [2007-02-17 19:28:32 +0000 UTC]

(nodding)... the falsetto does get old... but, damn... in concert... it worked really, really well... especially with the subject matter and the staging...

thanks for the link!... i'm off to check that out now...

I really wish my message board told me when I had a new comment here.

Characters! I can't get the girl with the snail on her head out of my mind.

I'm somewhere between disappointed in myself for being so unskilled and eager to figure out how they created those effects with their own drawings. And annoyed that I can't come up with concepts like that on my own.

mgilpin In reply to Chameleonperson [2007-02-01 17:52:29 +0000 UTC]

yeah... i find myself annoyed that i have to go look for those messages as well...

(grin)... i agree... the girl/snail drawing is great... hell, they're all great... as for the concepts... you might surprise yourself... i used to think the same thing about my photos... then i just kept shooting... and kept looking at other's work...

It's possible.. In general, I'm not a particularly creative person (unless it's after 1AM). I tend to play it by the book a lot more than I should. If you give me a jumping-off idea, then I can work around that idea.. but I won't come up with that idea on my own.

But as you say, maybe that'll develop over time.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mgilpin In reply to Chameleonperson [2007-02-02 06:05:28 +0000 UTC]

actually, that sounds quite a bit like me... only, over time, i learned to build my own 'jumping-off' points... (thus my conceptual/theorectical predilection)...
