Lately I've been helping my girlfriend with an "ask" tumblr page (askderpy.tumblr.com) and trying to find myself a new job.
Also the recent WoW patch has been keeping me away from my wacom tablet, transmog is going to be the death of me.

Best thing I could suggest is find artists that really inspire you, and try to imitate the features that appeal to you. Dont confuse that with "copy X artist", but observing methods used by other people really helps determine what works for yourself and what doesnt. When I first started digital illustration I often looked at artist [link] and [link] and I tried to develop my own art style based on what I liked about each of them.
Also short answer: Time invested is very crucial, and experimenting only leads to improvement.
