Alrighty, heres some the things-
Past: Before leaving that family after Hal's death let's say like during his youth, even though she too wanted him to become like her and Nathan, Dexter pretty much trust her a bit more and even look up to her a bit more as well plus he loves her like a son would.
Future: After the death of Hal and leaving the family, he had a argument with Nathan and Vahşi, when it went heated up more he gave out a insult that'll affect her and make Dexter regret fews years later. Since ths day he left the family and having a estranged relationship with both his parents, even though they have each other's throats, he still loves her and still beautiful to him... well because she is his mom and deep down regrets makinf her weep and calling the insult due to a loss of a friend.
