Most people use tools that do the job for you. Makes stuff a lot easier, but then a lot of potential is capped.

Pffts- I remember when my friend managed to delete his software or something. Not sure if that's even possible though.
For the silhouettes, I usually pick two colour(duh) the body would always be the complete opposite from the background and some how mix the hair in the back ground colour. As for the clothes I would also try and mix it into the background colour. I would also try and avoid outline if I can as well.

I somehow managed to time coffee to work about two hours after drinking. Works during exams, but oh! Word of warning, headaches never do anyone well in exams. And more than two bottles of coffee, I might as well be drinking liquid headache.
