Is the group still active I was hoping to get all the tutorials I could from you so that I may practice more. I am getting really serious about my art lately even more so than a few years ago. What I have gotten here has been amazingly helpful and I would like to continue to use the resources that may be provided. :3 👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Already read some of your notes posted by Enclave-of-the-night and they are so helpful. Better than any youtube-tutorial I have seen so far. Can't wait to take part at your course and do the assignemnts . Just wanted to drop by and say that, because it was a lot of work for sure .

I noticed I may be weak in somethings as I have been working on course 1. I think it would be good to learn about what brushes can do texture wise and how to manipulate them properly to your needs. I'm struggling to make my candy clouds. So I would probably say week points currently is brush understanding, tools like dodge and burn and their capabilities, paining clouds, bark/trees, and grass properly. I will not be coloring them in the traditional sense since this will be a fantasy piece I will probably be using purples blues pinks and greens. Any tips or thoughts?
I found this and I'm about to try it:
I will let you know how it goes.

Please do! I've seen that tutorial before but I've never tried it myself.
The colours will look good together for clouds! I'm not the best at doing clouds myself, but if you would like me to record me painting a cloud to send to you as a demonstration, I would be happy to!

I would have to say that the tutorial is pretty good, but for me I have to eliminate the extra last steps since it became plastic looking for what I was doing.

Tutorials are so helpful for picking up and learning new techniques, even if you don't follow the tutorial all the way through! Its one of the things they are really good for because you can then use those techniques in different places!

Sounds good I will let you know how it went. So far I am unsure, I got a good result up until I hit the final stages of the tutorial, but I have them posted in sta.sh for comparison if you want to look. I'm hoping people will give me feedback and let me know if they look better. sta.sh/29qxqc0rwqn it will help me determine if I need to use a different process with these type of clouds.

I agree, with this switch to patreon everyone has started making their own tutorials and charging for them. We no longer live in a sharing society. It's rather sad. While I too want to make money at what I love to do, and I find myself torn. I find it sad that everything IS about money. I can't help but blame the economy of our current time. It used to be that people relied on giving a service to get out there. And by sharing getting noticed. Now its just become about exploitation of nsfw art, and everything has become a business. I chose Ko-fi because its free to follow people and they can choose whether or not to donate to you. A no pressure approach. I hope one day we can go back to being a community of idea sharing instead of profit. But like I said I understand too. Everyone is hurting. And Bad. I hope our group connections can help boost this thought process back into play for the better.

I couldn't agree more!! You've described it perfectly. It is so incredibly sad that artists are so underpaid that they have to turn to selling their secrets to get money, but I do understand. Art on its own is, most of the time, not enough to sustain people financially. It becomes about finding a reliable source of income, and for some artists that becomes Patreon.
I just hope that the art community becomes a place where people share knowledge and learn from each other, instead of being such a competitive place. And maybe we can find a way of being paid while still having fun and being ourselves.
Hopefully, we can find others who agree with us also! It always starts with a small group of people!

I think sometimes people focus too much on making money on "this" site when they should strive locally where they aren't fighting against a million people. Less competition, personal interaction. Art Fairs. These guys make bank at art fairs. DA is a good platform to build a portfolio and build an audience to a degree, but it lacks local connectivity which is important and no one can really do that except the artist. Right now I'm focusing on building a portfolio. This coming year I may start small on a local level.

Yes! I agree! I do a bit of paid work here on DeviantArt, but most success in art has been working on a local level. I paint portraits of people's deceased pets onto stones for them to put on their graves Its more successful, and more satisfying as an artist because I get to see people's happy faces

T.T Awe that's so awesome. I know this girl on here who had a cat recently die and she did molds of her paws. I told her to punch holes in them so she could hang them or have them as Christmas ornament so the cat will always be part of the family. Its hard losing pets.
