Yo man, you wouldn't happen to remember what program to use to rip contents from a Xbox 360 dvd would you? I have been trying to get a crack at what is in Halo CE:A but all I get is the warning video about the game being a Xbox 360 game. :/

someone told me about a version of Alteration called Alteration CE, its supposed to be able to extract anything you want. the uploaded of this video told me about it [link]

hmmm.. no thats not alteration CE. thats probably Engineer or Ascension. alteration CE is the old version for CE and 2 and 3. ODST, WARS, and Reach use the new alteration, which sadly, is private. i hope they know what i am doing, i dont need ACE to extract what i want, i write my own scripts for it.

why not modify Xtraction to extract all you need?

because xtraction wont open the maps i need. alteration has a script that autoseeks the maptype and searches its null tag, mode tag, bitm tag, and vbmpbsp tag for the registry code. that way, it alters it's own code according to what map it's opening. thats why its called alteration. i built my version from the ground up using ripped code from the halo reach disk, thats why i dont need xtraction, although i do use it for bieng simple, alteration and ascension are the best texture/model extractors that are public. my version is private. ask DEElekgolo what one he uses, he'lle tell you he uses alteration. ill bet ya.

what do you plan to do with the textures and models anyway? I've actually had a few people ask me about this stuff and not say what they plan to do with them
from whats i have seen of Alteration id rather use Xtraction... to me it seems like i can get more materials from Xtraction and Alteration has allot more of those annoying error messages
also, couldn't you use a DevKit to get all the textures and models you would want or need? well... DevKit and one of the extraction programs that have the right .DLLs

har har i extract them and build up stock for editing and stuff. i use some as reference to build my own and as assets for 3d models and shit. What youve SEEN of alteration is just the public version, there are alot of private versions, usually tailor made by the scripters for a particular use. my version is adapted to extract diffuses,specs,bumps,parrlx,etc. and models. Devkits may be more versatile but alteration and similar apps are designed specifically for textures and models. Xtraction is buttfucked useless at rendering DXT3+ maps, alteration renders prettymuch all of them, but without the augmentated private scripts that come with private versions alteration doesnt do too good at rendering. i'm not saying what i have planned for my rips, thats no ones buisiness.
