I think every artist will say they have been drawing their whole life. I probably only got serious about improving my art in the last five years or so. Before that I didn't use refs much and just drew what I wanted without worrying much about studying foundations. In my Inktober sketches you can see some of all three. (Drawn completely from imagination, drawn using a reference and drawn as a study of something)

5 years is a long time, and time well spent I may add. I can see it’s paid off in your images.

I’ve been drawing for 2-3 years, but only seriously since the start of this year. Before then it was on and off.

I think how long it takes to get good depends on the person and their priorities. Chances are the people who devote all their time to studies and foundations can improve in their technical skills quicker. But for me that took a lot of the joy out of it and I found myself creating excuses not to draw so I decided to take it slower and enjoy the ride more.

It's great how you try and include stories in your drawings. I find drawings or even character designs tend to be more interesting when there is a story behind them.

Thanks again :) (Smile) I’ve been a writer for a few years longer than a drawer. It’s self-taught, but I try to write a bit every day. So I like sharing a small story with each of my pictures to bring it alive.

But sometimes I wonder if I should allow the viewer to build their own interpretation of it. That’s probably why some people don’t say much about their pictures.

Even if you don't share it I think that art benefits if you have a story in your head when you draw. I've found my more interesting character designs tend to be those which have complete stories.
As for artist comments I think there are many reasons why people might not write much. For some English isn't their first language, others they might just feel there isn't much to say. I know I don't write much for some of my Inktober pictures.

If there is a problem with your account maybe you should report it?
As I don't see why you don't have the option to use your points to buy your own month premium membership. When I just checked, I had the option and I know other people have bought their own.
