I'm sorry for this total randomness, but I was browsing around DA and read that you were going to be a Splicer at A-kon this year. I'm also being a Spider Splicer for A-kon this year, and I'm glad I won't be the only one going around in Splicer gear. Maybe we'll run into each other. ^^

I saw your chicken pic that you posted a long time ago, and I was wondering how you got them to be coloured.
You said something about injecting a needle, but what kind of needle? What kind of dye?
I'm doing this project at school, and we are raising and hatching chickens. I would like to know how you did that to see if we are able to do it at our school.

Oh I didn't do that to the eggs myself! Someone in my family does it and you have to have a special needle and dye so it doesn't hurt them, doesn't harm the egg shell to where it damage the chick's development, and make sure the dye is very safe for when they hatch. Alot of people scream it's cruel but you'd be surprised at how much effort goes for people to make sure the chicks don't get hurt in anyway or ends up ill (vendors where I grew up did anyway, I can't speak for the rest of the south)
Where I live you can actually find people selling colored chicks like them around Easter time around like auction areas for lifestock or feed stores.
It's nice yer doing a school project with some chickens (I raised many in the past for pets and find anyone's interest in them wonderful) but I wouldn't recommend ya'll trying the dye thing unless someone is there who has read up on it a good bit and can supervise maybe one egg at a time if attempting it and has the proper stuff. Like making sure the needle doesn't go far enough to hit the baby itself and just far enough to put a small drop of dye inside, etc. Please note however when they shed their baby feathers they become normal colored once again so don't expect it to last after their first shedding lol!
Sorry I rambled. I've raised chickens as both pet and lifestock and would hate for something to happen cause I might have left the impression normal dyes or needles would work for such a thing. For better info look up Dyed Baby Chicks in google, alot of nice links there explain it better then me and even what to use. But as I said, maybe try it on one egg of the bunch ya'll are raising and see how that one egg works out.
