I was watching mew mew power transformations today.
Usually the girls would be named after food and endangered animals.
So I decided to make up my own, her name is mew Artichoke and her animal is a sea slug!

Everyone in the hobby says if your determined to save you'll get one, one day. So keep on trying to save and cut out all the things you don't need.
There are also sites that sell cheap dolls like bobobie or mint on card. But I reccomend to buy the one you want.

the only con I've been to was EXP, and I spent like $50 there. Not counting all of the Pocky and Ramune lol

I didn't know that was your first con!
Anyway, um just think what you like to do best and say do I like it more than dolls?
Because this hobby should never take away from any other hobby you have.
Also, try and think if the doll hobby mixes in with any of your other hobbies because this hobby can mostly add on to other hobbies you have.
My other hobbies are crocheting and drawing so drawing ties in with doll face-ups crocheting ties in with clothes making.Some other similar commercial dolls are monster high dolls and they look so pretty with out all that manufacture makeup!
