Are you familiar with the story of "Trilby" by George du Maurer? it is very much has a familiar resemblance to POTO. The Two main characters are just amazing.... it's a story that revolves around a model named Trilby O Ferrell who becomes the object of love and devotion to a Musician/Hypnotist named Svengali who transforms her into Europe's diva through his powers. but she is in love with an artist named Billie. I've seen the The 1931 movie with John Barrymore and Marian Marsh it was wonderful.
