I've found that only two things are required to write poetry well. The first is Emotion, and the other is practice. You have the first one just as much as I do, perhaps even more. You just need to hone your craft a bit, and it will shine brighter than any star.

Emotion is important in stories, as well. And don't worry about what it "turns into". Sometimes when writing poetry, I start writing about one thing, and by the end I'm writing about something completely different than what I started with. In this way, the writing takes its own course, and shapes itself. Writing a story or poem is like holding a lit match, and the flame is the story/poem, Itself. You just hold it, allowing it to be free, and just sit back and watch it bend, twist and dance from your pen, and when it's over, you step back and admire the work the two of you have teamed up to create.

I never imagined myself becoming a writer. Up until two years ago, I was convinced I couldn't write to save my life. Guess I get it from meh mum.
