DefineTheSky In reply to diancia [2014-07-17 02:59:20 +0000 UTC]

ah congrats on the upcoming summer break! you deserve it !!!

hahah believe it or not, our summer break actually started back in June, so I've been up to the usual summer shenanigans. I'm actually hanging out on the US east coast right now; visiting relatives and checking out colleges. Β One of the colleges has a course called "Single Combat In the Ancient World" and I'm just in general awe of the amazing, intriguing ranges of classes out there. COLLEGE IS EXCITING, RAINY. I'M SO EXCITED.

uh but our school year is actually getting uncomfortably close to beginning anew (like a month +), so you once more will have the privilege of watching me go back early! Ah the midwestern school schedules!

How is it on the other side of the pond?? summer plans? art stuff (I've loved seeing your designs lately!)? Life in general?

Its really great to hear from you, Rainy!

also DANG, THIS IS A LONGISH NOTE. BLUH OOPS.

UH I HAVE HAD A BOX SITITNG IN MY ROOM FOR MONTHES WITH YOUR NAME ON IT AND HALF FILLED WITH STUFF TO SEND YOU. I FEEL GUILTY AS HECK ABOUT IT, I PROMISE I JUST GOTTA GET MY STUFF TOGETHER AND ONE DAY YOU'LL GET A LOVELY PACKAGE!!!!!!!!!!!

I WISH I COULD GO BACKPACKING but i'm stuck here grr. things have happened. i just started IB which is killing me, swim practice has started up, and i'm doing this sport science class right now which is really interesting. and i did a wilderness first responder course, went to wyoming, and did a krav maga (self defense) course.Β

ARE THERE STILL THOSE LITTLE BUGS IN THE GRASS I FORGOT WHAT THEY WERE CALLED HAVE YOU TALKED TO MARGARET LATELY

it's okay, it took me half a year to send you my box too don't worry about it

ahhshahsdlkfhalk good luck with all of your stuff!!!!!!!!!!!! How was the wilderness first responder course, do you feel overflowing with wilderness survival skills? :^0 !!!AH THATS SO COOL! hmm i think the last time I talked to margaret was in April??????????????????? AND THOSE TINY BUGS ARE CALLED CHIGGERS AHHHHHH THEY SUCK AND ARE NOT GOOD. I HATE THOSE THINGS LIKE GOSH DANGΒ

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

turquoise-truck In reply to DefineTheSky [2013-10-11 12:40:22 +0000 UTC]

YES THOSE CHIGGERS. I SEARCHED THEM UP ON GOOGLE IMAGES AND THE BITES LOOK NASTY LIKE A MILLION TIMES WORSE THAN MOSQUITOES EURGH AND THERE WAS THIS PICTURE OF A LINT ROLLER THAT HAD A TON OF CHIGGERS STUCK TO THEMΒ

I'M SO GLAD WE DON'T HAVE THEM IN CHINA (but then again we don't have like. any kind of natural environment sort of thing anyway.) SO MAYBE CHIGGERS WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA.

CONGRATS ON BEING CROSS COUNTRY CAPTAIN THOUGH!!!! are you planning on doing outward bound again??

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DefineTheSky In reply to turquoise-truck [2013-10-12 02:38:30 +0000 UTC]

god thats terrifying; theres no way i'm brave enough to google chiggerstlksdjflkasdlkaahhhHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

On outwardbound: I DON'T KNOW AHALSKDHFAKSDF HMMMM. I've def thought about it and I'm currently a well of indecision. I'd really like to do some awesome outdoorsy thing, but I feel like i've sort of covered the backpacking bit. And I also am looking to go to a 3 week art camp which will take up a lot of potential backpacking time. GOSH ITS HARD TO TELL AT THIS POINT LASKDHFLK

What are you thinking? any OB or other activities planned?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

turquoise-truck In reply to DefineTheSky [2013-10-12 11:30:54 +0000 UTC]

i kind of want to go on a white water rafting & backpacking trip or maybe rock climbing but i'm not sure where. there are so many choices! and i heard about the government shutdown! D: ARE ALL THE NATIONAL PARKS CLOSED??? does that mean the OB that go into national forests are cancelled??? WHAT'S HAPPENING IN AMERICA I'M SO CONFUSED

AND ART CAMP SOUNDS REALLY COOL I'M JEALOUS. where are you planning on going to college? (wait are you a junior or are you graduating this year? cause you're 17 right?) and peanut butter cookies are in the oven right now and they're really good btw there's this amazing salty choco chip cookie recipe that i'm totally in love with wait here it is:

--

BEST COOKIES EVER OMG

Ingredients:

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups firmly packed dark brown sugar
2 eggs, at room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda2
3/4 teaspoons sea salt + more for sprinkling on top of each cookie dough ball
2 1/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:

In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and dark brown sugar together on medium-high speed until light and fluffy in texture, about 2 minutes. Reduce the speed to medium-low and add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each egg is added. Add the vanilla and mix to incorporate. Next, add in the flour, baking powder, baking soda and sea salt and mix just until all the dry ingredients are fully incorporated. Do not over-mix. Add in the chocolate chips and mix them in by hand using a wooden spoon or rubber spatula. Transfer the cookie dough to a bowl and cover tightly. Refrigerate the cookie dough overnight.

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheets with silicone baking mats or parchment paper. Use a cookie scoop to portion out the cookie dough onto the baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart. Sprinkle each cookie dough ball with a small amount of sea salt. Bake the cookies for 15 minutes, rotating the baking sheets halfway through the baking time to ensure even browning. Remove the cookies from the oven when they are a light golden brown around the edges and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for about 2 minutes before transferring them to a baking rack to cool completely. Store in a covered container at room temperature for up to 5 days.

--

ok anyways yeah. remember when connor left the cream cheese open and ants crawled in? and you know how sometimes you bite into a "chocolate chip" cookie and find out that it's really a raisin cookie? i had a dream last night that i bit into a cookie and they were really ants. (imagine if they were chiggers)

AND WITH THAT HAPPY NOTE I BID YOU FAREWELL
