Omg Hey!!! Haven't spoken to you in ages.
Been having loads of nostalgia recently as yesterday was my last day in school. It's really odd because what happens in K-ON is much like what happened at the end of my school time. It just feels strange. But I'm off to Turkey soon for a week or two.
How are you?

Or is that what I want you to think? .... Just kidding
So you want to be a photographer? I do a bit of photography although it's hard to find beautiful landscapes here in England like you do in America. All there is where I live is wasteland and a very grey looking city. ;D Okay maybe it's not THAT bad but it's not like America.

Mikanally In reply to Democo [2013-01-28 03:34:33 +0000 UTC]
england? a wasteland? I can't imagine that from what I've seen in pics and movies xD it looks so beautiful there! and yes america DOES have some spots, but sadly they're how you say, 'dying out' or becoming dull and just.. ew :c I mean, I live in Mississippi and that's probably the worse place to be when you're a person working on photography. it's ugly here! possibly the most terrible state in the US.

Democo In reply to Mikanally [2013-01-28 04:09:29 +0000 UTC]
Okay, it's not exactly a wasteland but it is constantly raining. I live on the moors, which if you don't know is technical like a grassy, wet, wasteland type thing. (you could just type 'moor' in on Google if really want to know) There's one thing I have found that is good for photos that is we have lots of these cool twisted trees that sit alone in the middle of no where which can make for a good shot. I suppose where ever you live becomes more boring though. The only upside of rain is that we get a rainbows lots. When I say we have lots of rain you would expect that we get snow, but no. We had snow for 2 days this year and our summer was just rain every day.
I went to America a few times when I was younger but I would love to go again, it's just so much better exploring somewhere new.

Good, good.
Not going to be on the bus any more though as it costs so much money for something I would hardly use anymore. Started photography now as I failed both maths and physics.
Anyway how are you? Have you taken up art now? If you ever need any help with it just ask.

Blackk4t304 In reply to Democo [2012-09-06 16:57:30 +0000 UTC]
Glad to hear it. ^^
Aww, shoot! D: I'm so sorry about your maths and physics, that must be terrible for you!
But good luck on photogrophy.
I'm alright thank you, yes I've took up art, but you know it's funny, everyone told me that Mrs Phillips was horrible, but actually I find that she's quite nice.
If I need help I'll be sure to let you know, thanks again, it's very kind of you.

I really think that you are well capable of an A in GCSE art and probably even an A* if you put the effort in. Some good advice I could give you on doing well in art exams is that you want to give something different to the table. For example in my GCSE everyone had the same size canvas for their final canvas, what I did was buy my own much larger canvas (I think it was about 3x larger) and speed painted instead of trying to be too presice. Which by the way some more advice, don't take too long to try making something neat when it would save time and usualy look better if you do it in double time. Another bit of advice would be that when you speak about an artists work for an artist study, talk about it almost as if you are disecting it, for example put pointers in and describe every bit which the artist may have used to try and get something across.
I could go on and on about beating art exams but they are a few basic tips, there are many more things you can do to do well in art at school though. If you have any questions or want me to say what you could maybe do better next time in an artwork for school then I'm always here to answer. (as I said) Remember that a very important thing is how you develop you skills and ideas, I think it may be like 1/4 of the exam.

Wow, thank you, that's really nice of you... I honestly didn't think I was THAT good ^^' but thank you very much, I don't get complements like that often.
If you don't mind, I have copied your advice onto a document for future reference. ^_^
If I have any art questions, you'll be the first one that I ask.
Haha, don't worry, I've always been told that I'm a chatter box too!

No problem, I know what your sort of personality is like, you always think you are worse than everyone at everything but that isn't true. Many people will put you down but you can't let that get to you, they would only put someone down to give themselves a compliment as they are so insecure about their own feelings.
To be really good at art I believe it is all about looking at the world at all angles, not literally of course, I mean look for more depth in everything. Take a look at this persons art - [link] - (no idea if you would like it or not.) I have recently been doing an artist study on her, it's so amazing that she is only 18, thatβs just one year older than me. I attempted to do something in her style earlier in school but it went wrong as the face ended up looking male instead of female and the style became my own so it looks nothing like her art. I'll upload it soon. Anyway my point around her is that I was talking to her earlier and I agree with her on so many levels about it's all about layering. To create more vibrant colour you could use certain colour combinations layered around each other instead of something being flat. Also layering will create texture. When you get to your first canvas make sure you layer, lots of thin layers. It doesn't matter if your art changes from what you originally thought it would look like as this is a good thing, it shows artistic development within the canvas.
Trust me my art back in year 10 was never really that good but you have to keep working at it.
Last thing; make sure you wow your teacher. I'm lucky to be honest to have a teacher who can be impressed easily, to do this you want to stand out from everyone. Work bigger, faster and with more layers. Come up with original ideas and include yourself within your artwork. (Again, not literally )
Good Luck!
