# About me
Professional illustratorI have done interior art and cover illustrations for RPG books published by Evil Hat Productions (Cover and interior art for "Uranium Chef", interior spreads for "Do: Fate of the Flying Temple"), Vigilance Press (cover and interior art as lead artist for the "Tianxia" series, character illustrations for various "Mutants & Masterminds" supplements), Fainting Goat Games (character illustrations for ICONS supplements), Frameworks Games (character illustrations for "Shiyan") and Living Room Games (character illustrations and interior art for "Earthdawn"). I also occasionally create illustrations for private individuals.
A long time ago I did a webcomic called "Eversummer Eve", and hope to revive it again eventually in a heavily revised version, and probably under a different name. (Note: I've lost ownership of the domain name for that comic, and it has since been picked up by people who are not me. That version of the comic is dead, and will not be updating. Apologies for the inconvenience, and thank you for your support.)

I'm sure you've already been asked, but do you plan on doing a redesign of Calla and Cavin from Gummi Bears?

I was a big fan of your webcomic, Eversummers Eve when I was young. The artwork in it was always so whimsical and facinating to me. I adored how you would make your pages flow so well. The characters were really amazing and the designs are really, really, good. Infact I was watching this show that popped on Netflix recently, and you know what character I thought of with that white patch in his black hair? Yours!! I had to hunt down old sketchbooks to remember the name of the series properly- and I'm glad I did!! I wanted to read it again and of course the servers down. ): I also wish it was a graphic novel that I could purchase!! Anyways, I just want to say I'm elated to see you still doing art and I hope one day you'll pick up the series again!! Take care!!

Thanks!!! Sorry for such a late reply - life got super busy and I've hardly been online this past week. But thanks so much for your kind words. It's always humbling and inspiring to know that anything I've done has made the kind of impact that makes folks remember it years later. ^_^Β Take care, and good luck with your own art! ^____^

It's hard to find good gummi bear fanart, weirdly enough, since it was the childhood of so many, but yours is one of the best around! I'm glad I found your art

LOL! Well, the Major Arcana isn't even done yet, never mind the Minors and Court cards, so there's really not a 'pack' yet to sell. Still, maybe one day when I get more done, I may be able to at least sell a 'majors only' deck. I'm glad you like them, though!

Omg, I am so glad to hear ESE is coming back, new title or no! I started reading it back when I was in high school (well over a decade ago--while in class and trying to avoid doing any actual classwork) and then I FORGOT THE TITLE! And spent the next five or so years trying to beat my head against bricks and metal and various dense objects in an attempt to remember the few chapters I had read in a harried frenzy in an attempt to avoid getting caught by my teacher. When I finally found it again (mostly through sheer luck, long after having given up hope) it was on hiatus, and I was a sad, sad panda. Having only recently started to contribute to DA myself, I stumbled upon your profile (sheer luck again) and did a happy dance. I look forward to seeing more of your writing and drawing, you are an incredible artist and story teller, and the first web comic I ever read!

Thank you! Knowing that I was your first webcomic leaves me both humbled and happy...and slightly worried - I hope that you didn't miss anything important in class! (Clearly nothing was lost in English and composition, judging by your post. ^_^)
I visited your DA page and was very impressed, especially by your sculptures. They have so much personality! I am definitely looking forward to seeing more from you.

I really like your work. Is started reading Eversummer Eve some time ago, but i can't finish it because www.eversummereve.com is now a site for automobile info. If at all possible could you at least post the pages of the comic in your Deviant Gallery? I wanted to send you an email about this, but I couldn't find your email address.

DeniseSJones In reply to hvgtd [2012-01-08 03:03:27 +0000 UTC]
Thank you very much! Well...it's a long story about eversummereve.com, but here's the summary: The old site is down because I am currently working on a second draft of the comic that will have (I hope and believe) better art and a much better story, and probably even a different title. I figure if Carla Speed McNeil could get away with doing that for "Finder" (which you should read, btw, if you haven't, it's fantastic), then I can sneak by with it too. I feel like I'm getting to a point where I can start posting some concept art for the new version soon, so folks can at least have something to look at for now.

Well, I wish I could , but to borrow a quote from the brilliant comics artist and author James Owen, I'm trying to move at the speed of quality. What I can say, though, is that so far, using the anime "Vision of Escaflowne" as my teacher for how to weave stupid numbers of plots together into something good, I've identified roughly 35 distinct subplots that I want to weave together, and of those plots I've gotten about 10 of them worked out, more or less. It's enough that I have a pretty good sense of the overall shape of the story, and what sort of major events need to happen and when/where they ought to happen. So, things are progressing on the writing front. I keep finding myself stopping to do additional research on things like String Theory and Constructal Law and, y'know, physics, but I hope the end result will be worth it. The speedpaints you've seen me start posting are my attempts to come up to speed (hah!) on the art of doing backgrounds, since I want to do the new version of the comic in colour. So, at least there's something you can look at for now. I know it isn't the comic, but I hope it's enough to interest you a little while I work on pulling this thing together. ^^
