Umm you should be able to request to affiliate I just checked the settings and members are free to send in requests it just takes 2 votes. There's a button on the group's front page that says affiliate and you should be able to just click that and send a request after picking your group?
I'd try to send you a request myself but dA really hates me and a lot of pop ups for groups and also profile widgets all appear blank to me and I can't see anything OTL
