Hey there,
I was wondering, if it's ok to use Edgar as a base to create own characters on top, which are then used in an own game (Running with Solarus, Attribution would happen of course, according to the license you picked and the license would be as demanded by it, retained. Although I'd like to keep them in a seperate file, instead of adding it inside every set).
(Currently I have redrawn the head and placed it on top of the body).
I know it isn't really needed to ask (according to the license), but I want to make it sure it's ok, if I can.

Hi, yes, you can.
You are right, you do not need to ask for permission (just give credit properly and keep the same license), but it is nice to see that my free pixel art is helping others. Thanks for asking!
I will take a look to your work when it is done.
I plan to make more of the same kind of work too for this summer holidays: creating many NPC graphics, some of them based on Edgar's sprites. It will be tedious though, but not so much as it has been creating the hero.
I wish that the Solarus community keeps growing, surpassing other communities like Game Maker's and RPG Maker's someday. A lot of free art will be necessary for then.

It's great to hear that. I also really appreciate your contribution to Solarus!
As you said there are really missing a lot of graphics you'd need to build at least a basic game.
And while there are many people out there sharing their work, it is really a hassle to make sure you're allowed to use that (Often they just specify no license, which for me just means, "don't touch"). RPGMaker has those huge assets, but I really like to have full control over what my game is doing and how exactly it works which is why I really love Solarus and how far it is at the current moment.
