Well, Dixie, this is it. I'm taking a big step into becoming a better artist . I wrote a journal entry if you want to take a quick read at it. Pretty much summed up what I'm going through in there.

I tried out the WiiU Art Academy. Its a good, only just getting started with it, but its good none the less. Despite drawing tomatoes and apples so far, I felt its a good way to start.

Just read your journal entry, and I understand how you feel. As I mentioned previously, I've also been wanting to improve on my art skills and try to get my own site going. It's not always easy to start over, but sometimes it's for the better.

I hope everything works out for you, and I look forward to seeing your new work.

Hey, Dixie?
What type of program are you using for your artwork? I'm trying to get an idea and do some research to improve myself.

The only programs I currently use are Comic Life and GIMP, and any digital techniques I use them for are very minimum since I do most of my work by hand.

A combination between traditional art and digital sounds really cool.

You know, I've been thinking about it, and I decided to start all over with my knowledge or art. Most of my current work are still in development and I haven't made any progress with them since it takes a long time for me to get a single picture completed, let alone a few hours just to draw the lineart.

I'm going to start using the WiiU version of Art Academy. I saw a plenty of poistive reviews and it looks like its a good start.

I'm not the best with computers and could never get into digital art. I know I should probably try to learn a little about it, but I just prefer the traditional method. Art Academy on Wii U does look pretty cool for learning digital art, though.

I too have been wanting to start over and improve my work, and thinking about finding another site to post my art, or better yet, make my own personal site. People always ask if I have my own site, so it's certainly something I should look into.

Happy belated birthday! Maybe, in remembrance of Iwata-san, he loses his last life to a bile duct-looking thing and actually ecscapes from the game. Meanwhile, Miyamoto-san has 3 more lives left all of a sudden. It's either die-or-save for Miyamoto-san, and both get him out of the game. He choses to try to save Peach. What happens next? Find out in Super Miyamoto Brothers 90! (89 is the story I talked about)

Happy birthday buddy, hope you have a wonderful day today.
Also be sure to wish for something before you blow out the candles by the way.
One more thing, here's a (virtual) cake and some (virtual) presents from me.
Hope you enjoy 'em. And don't forget to have a splendid time today.

DFKJR In reply to DixieKong86 [2015-07-24 13:15:24 +0000 UTC]

I'm doing okay, but going through with a bit of struggling. I'm trying to find a more efficient way to create good quality fanart in lesser time. I have seen and came across numerous artworks with high definition and professional styles by artists who can get them done within an hour or less.

I don't know what programs they are using to be so good at doing that, but that's what I want. Every time I make a fanart it will usually take me a week or longer to complete, including free days. I'm getting tired of that and I want to make lots of artwork within a short period of time like everyone else.

So yeah, that's pretty much my personal problem right there. Other than that, over a week ago I went on vacation to Chicago to visit a few family members. I enjoyed my tripped and had a good time.

DixieKong86 In reply to DFKJR [2015-07-24 14:34:25 +0000 UTC]

I know exactly how you feel. I wish I could come up with creative ideas and produce my artwork a lot faster than I currently do. I've been selling some art and doing commission work, but I always find that I'm struggling to keep up. Really envy some of the artists here that can produce great hand drawn work in such a short amount of time.

That's cool. I think Roger Moore and Sean Connery are the best Bonds, and their films feature some of the best qualities in the series.

Thanks, and Merry Christmas to you, too!

I had a pretty good Christmas. In terms of game related gifts, I got the Captain Toad game, and a couple of Amiibo figures of Star Fox and Donkey Kong. I still don't have the Smash Bros. game yet, but the I thought the figures look kind of cool for displaying, so I couldn't resist asking to get a couple of my favourite characters. I guess it's just the Nintendo nerd in me.

DFKJR In reply to DixieKong86 [2014-12-26 19:35:24 +0000 UTC]

That sounds pretty sweet. I didn't get much for Christmas, I'm planning on getting SSB4 before the offer to get two official in-game OST discs expires. I heard Captain Toad is really good. I might get the game one day, but I'm more or less saving and waiting for Mario Maker to come out. I'm more excited to designed my own levels.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DixieKong86 In reply to DFKJR [2014-12-26 22:34:36 +0000 UTC]

I forgot all about Mario Maker. Yes, it does sound pretty cool, although there will probably be quite a few people creating ridiculously difficult levels similar to the ones you would see in hacks.

I've only played a little bit of Captain Toad, but so far, it's not too bad. It's basically just a larger version of the Captain Toad levels that were in Super Mario 3D World with some added features.

I did get some money for Christmas as well, so I think I'm just going to go ahead and get Super Smash Bros. for Wii U regardless of not having the GameCube controller adapter. I've heard Nintendo is supposed to be releasing more adapters, so hopefully I can get one afterwards. Right now, I can't find any in stores, and they're just far too expensive online.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DFKJR In reply to DixieKong86 [2014-12-28 00:23:22 +0000 UTC]

That does sound very likely once the game finally makes it on store shelves. I'm going to miss out playing any of those difficult customized levels sense I'm still lacking internet.

I'm really hoping that the devs will finally include the old favorite power-ups (Hammer Suit) into the game.

Admittedly, I'm not all that caring for the GameCube controller. I pretty much adopted into the 3DS versions contols that the WiiU gamepad will make little differences.

A little bummed. I got sick over the entire Thanksgiving, but I'm doing a lot better now.

Funny thing, I recently talked to a guy who's Canadian and his Thanksgiving holiday passed nearly a month ago. I didn't realize the time spam between two countries were so far apart.

I'm sorry to hear that you weren't feeling good on Thanksgiving, but it's good that you're feeling better now, though.

Have you picked up Super Smash Bros. for Wii U yet? I haven't bought it because I couldn't find the adapter for the GameCube controllers.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DFKJR In reply to DixieKong86 [2014-11-29 00:34:17 +0000 UTC]

No, I haven't yet. I was hoping the game will be on sale for Black Friday, but it wasn't. Its still a whopping $60. Same thing for Bayonetta 2, unfortunately...

As much as I want to play SSB4 Wii U, I may have to either wait for a price drop or trade in some games at GameStop.

Are you talking about the new GameCube controller that Nintendo redesign for the Wii U?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DixieKong86 In reply to DFKJR [2014-11-29 11:52:29 +0000 UTC]

I know what you mean. The price range for some of these Wii U games being from $60 to $70 is kind of steep. People used to complain about the price of game cartridges years ago, but disc games aren't much better in all honesty.

And regarding the GameCube controller adapter, I was talking about this: www.highdefdigest.com/uploads/…

My brother tried looking for it, but a guy told him that it's fairly rare and Nintendo isn't making many of them. Seems a little odd since most people prefer to play Smash Bros. with the GameCube controller. If I'm unable to get one, then I'll just have to get the Wii U Pro controller instead.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DFKJR In reply to DixieKong86 [2014-11-29 18:00:53 +0000 UTC]

I'm guessing the reason why the adapters are limited is because it'll defeat the propose of even having the Wii U Pro or any of the other previous Wii controllers. As i see things, it's mainly a nostalgic comfort for those who prefer the GameCube controller over anything else.

This is just a mild guess, but if it's limited and Nintendo is just making them when SSB4 Wii U version was back in production, the adapter may only be adaptable for this game only. Unless proven otherwise...

On another note, so many new games for Wii U are coming out. I think Nintendo really needs to slow down a tad so I can at least make some money.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DixieKong86 In reply to DFKJR [2014-11-29 19:53:03 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, there's always a sudden release of new games after a certain period of time where there's a bit of a drought, and this usually happens when you can't afford to spend much money on that sort of thing. Lately, I've been playing more of the older games on Virtual Console, I recently just finished Castlevania Dracula X. Between the console and handheld you can quickly go through quite a few of those points cards. I hope they release the Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Land games soon.

DFKJR In reply to DixieKong86 [2014-11-29 21:17:52 +0000 UTC]

I thought they already release the Donkey Kong Country series on the Wii U eShop?

I know what you meant. Recently I have taken the opportunity to play past Kirby, Wario land, and Mario series I have never got when I was younger.

DixieKong86 In reply to DFKJR [2014-11-30 12:14:35 +0000 UTC]

I heard news from a Donkey Kong fan club here on DA that the games were released in Japan and Europe, but I didn't hear anything for North America yet. I'll have to check the shop again. It's still a mystery why they were removed from the old Wii shop.

DFKJR In reply to DixieKong86 [2014-12-01 21:40:25 +0000 UTC]

I think Nintendo once made an announcement via 3DS notification that they'll be disconnecting the eshop services on the Wii and DSi.

I could be wrong about the Wii, but its a defiant with the DSi. That was about year old.

For the past 2 weeks, not all that good. Ever since my ac adapter for my laptop messed up I was unable to continue making more artwork (more on that is in my latest journal entry).

Other than that, I'm doing fairly well; work is great as ususal and I'm currently enjoying Super Smash Bros. 3DS as a way to kill time while I wait for my new ac adapter to be delivered.
