I did two years ago, with a story called Fading Rose, but I've been writing The Shadows constantly since 2010 I just haven't found the right project outside of The Shadows to take up the challenge. And yourself?

I wrote a Pandora Hearts AU fanfic and I hit 52k. I learned more about my writing style so I plan to do NaNo again next year.

52k! very nice! did you outline it prior to starting, or just jump in with pure inspiration all the way through. I outline, personally, it's the only way I keep ideas together.

Pure inspiration. Originally it was going to be a nonfiction story about my first year of living on campus while away at college. Then I got bored and decided to write fiction and revived an old idea I had about the backstory for some of my old OCs who live in the Pandora Hearts universe. Two of the OCs are wandering souls looking for suitable vessels to live in and I wanted to write about how their vessels throughout the years have warped the souls' identities. I think having flashbacksΒ to their past helped ramp up the word count.

Ahh flashbacks... those are the best! I love using them to screw with character's minds and foreshadow all kinds of nonsense. I love flashbacks so much I made it into a superpower. Have you ever written characters with amnesia? Those are fun too!

I think I did have one character with amnesia but it actually fits with her character since she is a Time Lord. Flashbacks as a superpower, seems it would get old fast but I guess it is useful for dumping information that would take too long to communicate otherwise.
