Aww. I was gonna ask for another writing commission from you, but it doesn't look like you're very active, so I dunno...

What's up? How are things? Thought I'd stop by and ask how your life in the U.S. is going.
I'm really interested in hearing about your experience because I haven't really asked anyone who moved to the U.S. how things were different and what they thought of it. And it's different for you, because you just got here, so I can hear your first/early opinion. Also, you're in high school, and I've never asked someone on that level what they thought. (Never thought to do it when I was in high school)
So... yeah. How do you like the U.S.? How does it compare to the U.K.? What's different? Anything surprise you for being the same?
And what's school like? How's that different so far?

The US is pretty nice It is a bit weird driving on the other side of the road though, and the accents and slang are confusing. In the US biscuits are cookies. Why? Anyway, high school really isn't bad. I've only gone one day though. I registered right before a holiday weekend, so I couldn't go for the first two days, the I went and got my ROTC uniform, and then I got sick and missed today. Foreigners are usually pretty popular because we're "entertaining" so friends are bountiful. Altogether, I'm doing fine. And how are you?

They call biscuits cookies because the name "biscuit" was already taken, silly! Here, a biscuit is that thing you get from Kentucky Fried Chicken. You know it- that really thick, often flaky, and definitely not-sweet piece of bread you eat with chicken or other heavy meals. THAT is a biscuit! A cookie is too different to be called that! Cookies are too awesome for that name.
And I just heard on TV the other day where a commentator said "...that takes the biscuit" and that was my first time hearing that, so that must be the U.K. equivalent of "That takes the cake" here.
The accents and slang are weird? I bet they are. I'd like to hear more about that if you have more to say about it. How do you like your new friends? By now you've probably had more school. Anything you already notice is different?
You can definitely give me an update on your experience in our schools compared with the ones you went to in the UK later on when you've had more school, because I'd like to hear your perspective on the differences and similarities.
I'm doing fine. Just waiting for more comments to come in for my newest works on dA, mostly, and waiting to get paid also so I can go pay some bills.

I'm used to everyone saying things in a specific way, and American accents confuse me, which makes me have to ask them to repeat themselves quite often. The stores are different, and the music, so I have to figure everything out now. Also, I'm having an allergic reaction, so I need to go to the doctor. As for my friends, they're helping me with American words and such. Now go pay your bills!

ToddNTheShiningSword In reply to Edgars-Apprentice [2012-09-11 04:49:04 +0000 UTC]
You're allergic to Americans? O.O
How different is the music?
How are the stores different? Like, what are stores like in the U.K.?
I should have imagined American accents should be confusing like that, because I already imagined that listening to British accents could be confusing to me and I'd have to ask people to repeat themselves.
American words? How many American words are there, other than "cookie", "biscuit" and "line"?

Aha! You're from the U.K. it says on your Profile, and talking to you has just made me think that maybe you can help me with this.
A person on here who was not from Europe tried to depict a British character, and they had her say "You frog-snogging bint!"
Is that "genuine British"? And what the heck does it mean? I'd have asked that person, but they didn't know!
I hope I didn't just ask you to define something horrible you're not allowed to say...

That phrase is usually used around pubs and other drunkards, and mom won't tell me. So I'm assuming it's bad considering she says the C word a lot. Sorry
And yes, it's genuine.

It is, but if I don't hide my accent it's apparently funny -.-

ToddNTheShiningSword In reply to Edgars-Apprentice [2012-08-30 03:40:20 +0000 UTC]
Don't hide your accent. Everything is better funny.
Except death. I heard on the radio of a guy who got on the internet later in life, didn't know the acronyms, thought "lol" meant "lots of love", and typed things like "I'm sorry for your loss, lol" And he ended up with some apology notes to send out when he found out what it meant!
-Wait- you can hide your accent? How do you do that?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Edgars-Apprentice In reply to ToddNTheShiningSword [2012-08-30 03:44:31 +0000 UTC]
Well, I'll try not to hide it, but it's basically the same technique as an American doing a British accent, but I'm not trying to be funny, so I do it better.

I looked at your name, mixed the "L" and "B" and thought you wrote "Bin Laden" lol Is your dog albino? Wait, is that even your dog?
Just wanted to Comment here because the little signature text on your DeviantID is great and it's something my OC Todd would totally say. At least up to the word "face"- his favorite word to insult people or amaze them.
And speaking of sigs of yours and Todd, not all the hot guys are in anime, 'cause Todd's not in anime!
I'm not in anime either, but I was talking about my OC Todd, not flirting with you!!!!!

Lol! No, I'm Lin Batrin Yeah, my dog is an albino great Dane, and her name is Luka. But a lot of people don't like her because of her eye problem.
I looked back at my signature and, yeah, Todd seems to fit the description of someone who'd say that . Even if he doesn't laugh.
Yeah yeah yeah. Keep talkin' Todd

ToddNTheShiningSword In reply to Edgars-Apprentice [2012-08-26 04:00:03 +0000 UTC]
Your dog has an eye problem, and not just red eyes? Wait... I think I heard something about how being albino often causes eye problems due to a pigment issue in the eye. Is that true? Does she do things people don't like because of her eye problem?
Somebody says to Todd, "I'm gonna screw up your day" and Todd says "I'm gonna screw up your FACE"! He would totally say that, and then perhaps walk away and forget to laugh. lol
And then when Todd says something like "Not all the hot guys are in comics (No TV where Todd is for anime), 'cause I'm not in comics!"
Then "Yeah yeah yeah. Keep talkin' Todd" is probably the perfect response for him to get! That exchange could definitely take place between Todd & Diara.

Yeah, her tearducts have grown half way across her eyes, but it only effects her peripherals. And people say that she's just a freak, and she has done nothing to them. And yes, pigment does cause the problems.
Glad I could inspire you!

You're moving to another country in two days? U.K. to U.S.? Wow. Do you know people there? Already picked out what school you're going to and everything? Someone I know lives near Aston PA. Are you bringing your dog?
So I guess since you're moving, like, thousands of miles closer to me that increases the chances of me suddenly finding you in my closet Like Rukia on the anime Bleach by a lot, doesn't it? That, and the fact that I now have a bigger, messier closet?

Edgars-Apprentice In reply to ToddNTheShiningSword [2012-08-26 20:44:47 +0000 UTC]
Yup. Day after tomorrow now my dad lives in Jersey, and I have a high school picked too. Luka is not coming sadly, but next year she'll be brought.
Sorry, but I don't hop through closets, but nice anime reference. You're winning major points in my book now. Btw, clean, man, clean! Last time I dropped by I got a dust bunnie up my nose and had to shoot back home! (lol! )

ToddNTheShiningSword In reply to Edgars-Apprentice [2012-08-30 01:43:49 +0000 UTC]
Are you in Pennsylvania?
*checks closet* -not in there
Oh, there's no dust in my closet. Main just unsorted clothes. Then there's two boxes where I need to sort the stuff out and put in on shelves so there's room for more clothes and everything fits neatly. But you don't magically visit closets so it should be fine.
Ah, everybody's seen Bleach then. The best part about Rukia being in Ichigo's closet was how before that one of his little sisters couldn't find her pajamas, and then he found out why! Rukia's a bit small, but taking children's pajamas was just funny. In fact, that's about the only thing funny that ever happened in Bleach in at least 3 seasons... imo

You got unpacked quicker than I would have! Those 2 or 3 boxes I told you about were from me switching rooms 6 months ago, and they're still not unpacked!
Do you have jet lag? Why are you still awake?

I'm doing all of these comments and posts on my iPad because we don't have a computer, so it's acting a bit funky. I'm always up until, like, two. Luka's still in the UK because they ouldn't let us have her in the apartment, and I am at home
