I love your stock! I want to base an entire character off those. Beauty and the Beast meets ballet with some gender-bending.

Thanks! Is raw another word for "too impatient to polish anything"?

MagicPen In reply to ErrantCrow [2014-02-11 21:22:05 +0000 UTC]
No lol it just has a lot of feeling to it, you know? Hard to explain. It feels passionate and fluid, but not random. Like everything has a purpose, but it's not micromanaged. Expressive. A lot of "pollished" work is boring because it lacks soul even though technical skill is present. You have both so I wouldn't worry lol.

Thank you so much for the Critique of my "SWIMMERS" deviation!
First of all its shocking to even get a critique as I ask for one on almost all my past deviations and never get any takers - so I think this might be the first one in 1.5 years that I ever got.
Secondly, I am blushing on your amazing kind words and you were right about the lighting in the work - it was the one aspect I struggled with when converting the 3D to a 2D.
Hugs!

It caught my eye. Not an easy task on this site, so smile.
Yes, unfortunately the critiqueable/critic ratio is...eh, skewed? It's also unfair to the undiscovered artists who want/need them the most. The only piece I remember ever getting critiques for was my DD. Most I won as prizes in a small Group contest (cool, ok), but the other was from a DD lurker. I wasn't impressed.
Ah well. All I can do is critique the way you're supposed to and hope it pings the radar.
Happy 2012

I'm making it with Artrage2 (yay $20 programs), with each minute of the painting (except for a few awkward jumps) exported as a GIF file with my handy dandy Automator skills. I plan to go back, finish the viking warrior piece and start transforming it into another piece soon...

Ahh, cheap programs. But still, you use it well so that's always good.

Hey, remember me? I still haven't paid you back for that picture you painted for me. Tell me if there's anything of yours you want me to read.

Whoa. That reminds me. I never put the final version of that picture online...so I'll just go do that...
[link] <-- Congratulations, it's a Paul, and this version actually has a camera...and feet.
I haven't got anything posted at the moment that I necessarily want critiqued, but give me a few days and I'll send you the link of a project I'm almost done with.

Again, Paul looks amazing. There are two other characters I'm really interested in you painting as well. I'd review a thousand pages for work like that.
Thanks again.

I think the luminosity in your fractals is awesome. I'm a painter, and you just can't build up lights with pigment that way; it must be done backwards, a kind of cheat. Anyway, that's why I find those pieces so damn cool.

Thank you! I actually draw a lot of my inspiration from stained-glass windows and Rennaissance paintings.
