Oh, sorry! I probably should have said shade, not color. In the show, her hair is usually a lighter pink, kind of like cotton candy, and while I would think most people would stick with that (especially with the colors you used for her kimono), but the shade of pink you used was brighter and had an almost purple tinge to it; I just wanted to say I thought it was neat and just suited that picture very well. Sorry!

No problem, I really loved your tribute to Janis Joplin. Me and Bobby McGee is one of my favorite songs and when I saw your picture, it felt like you had captured the expression I imagined on her face as she sang it perfectly. It isn't in anyway aesthetically pleasing, but it's somehow captivating; I've always pictured this song in shades of blues and browns and greens for some reason, but your choice of red and black fit, surprisingly. I think your picture may have actually changed how I view this song.

But anyways, I should hush before I start overanalyzing and turn myself into a hypocrite, so: good job. It's an excellent piece of artwork that touched me very deeply and I apologize if this sounds at all insane or demented, but it's currently 1:51:49 in the morning where I am right now and I'm still up because I thought a cup of tea could help my cold. Adieu.

No no no!! I'm realllllly flattered.

I don't know. Me and Bobby McGee is a really blood, piss, shit, sweat and tears kind of song. It's very raw and real and true, both Janis' and Kristofferson's version, and the kind of emotion i get from it is just what i drew. Raw and angry and hurt and everything all at once.

It's one of my favorite songs that i listen to and i always have the gut-wrenching feeling when i hear it.

To me, whenever I hear this song, it feels very raw like you said, but it also seems almost tired for some reason, although I don't think that's exactly the right word. It's almost like, if she had sung it a few years earlier, than it might have been angry and hurt, but she's more muted or subtle (bleah, still not the right word ). Like (and this is a really horrible explanation, but it's the best I can come up with) her whole life she's wanted freedom and it's been this really fierce, almost desperate, need for her and maybe when Bobby left her, she was pissed off and frantic, but now she's accepted that her freedom won't allow her the luxury of settling down with someone, at least, not when they're looking for a home like Bobby was, and even if she'd be willing to give that up for him now, it's too late and she's accepted that, although if she could, she'd go back to that time with him in a heartbeat. God, if my English teacher saw this, she'd either drop dead or kill me. Probably be the latter. And I think now it's very clear that I overanalyze my music waaay too much, but who cares? It's a gorgeous song, and it leaves this strange ache in my chest, the kind that I can almost physically feel (lol, my friends tried to get me on medication when they heard that ) and those are the most fun to analyze.
